Hey, cash... I survived my mother's birthday celebration... just barely. (lol)
But I slept right through Nicky's game. I'm glad her team won... but you seemed to be totally frustrated with the play-by-play... so much so that I'm not even going to check it out.
I think what has happened is that the FIBAeurope.com scoreboard has spoiled the heck out of us. (lol)
That's what I want for Christmas from the WNBA this year... the FIBAeurope.com play-by-play scoreboard... that and a Nicky Anosike replica jersey in an adult size... a Nicky Anosike blog on the WNBA website... more televised games of Nicky and the Minnesota Lynx this coming season... better officiating in WNBA games... a revamped impartial U.S.A. Olympic Team selection committee (to include some non-WNBA influences) to go along with their new training site... national open tryouts (starting now) for the 2012 London Olympics... less of Adam Hirshfield infiltrating the fans' blog... a WNBA e-mail address that actually responds to fans' requests and complaints... WNBA hookups for webcasts of overseas game... the immediate termination or demotion of the person who came up with the "Expect Great" WNBA marketing slogan... an increase in the salary-cap (doubling it) for WNBA players... and... and... world peace. (lol)
Yeah, Big Money... we just have to keep in mind that many of the people behind these overseas websites are volunteers with good intentions...
Now... with that said... I'd be the first one to admit, cash, that that don't mean a dang thing when you're trying to watch the darn game. (lol)
I just hope Nicky appreciates what we have to go through just to love and adore her. (lol) (lol)
And I was very pleased when you reported that Coach Eli rested Nicky in the fourth quarter. How did she do in the other three quarters? How many touches did she get?
The next 10 days are going to be pretty busy for Nicky... dealing with practices, travelling to Portugal and playing in the first round of the EuroCup playoffs. That was very smart of Coach Eli to rest her... and the rest of the starters.
Cash, I slept right through the Houston dispersal draft, too.
Who in the heck is Roneeka Hodges?
Do the Lynx really need ANOTHER indistinctive guard?
The Minnesota front office should have a reality show entitled "The Drips"... featuring Joe the Plumber... and some of your favorite drips.
Why didn't they just pass... like seven other teams did?
Or better yet... why didn't they just hire Houston's coach Karleen Thompson as an assistant coach... a former guard with some actual coaching experience? Imagine that!
Roneeka Hodges... hmmm... I gotta go back to bed on that one. (lol)
Pleasant dreams, Big Money, from my Roxie the porkie to your Roxie the Yorkie. (lol)

I looked at the play by play of the game today, or tried to.......somebody over there don't know what they are doing. At one point, around half time, the scoreboard didn't match the play by play and it remained that way until the end of the game. Rebounds weren't recorded (you would have a missed shot, but no rebound recorded). At the end of the 1st qtr and 2nd qtr. there are things going on with NO TIME left on the clock. You just have to see for yourself. The coach sat all his starters down in the 4th.
Well, what do you think of the Lynx choice from the Comets?
She is not who you were wanting........Roneeka Hodges.
Oh, and you are welcome for the 2008 Woman of the Year video link.

Oh, cash... thank you... thank you... thank you... Your link was the broadcast of the award show for Nicky Anosike. It was beautiful... touching...
I was so anxious to see it that I popped up my laptop and watched it while everyone else was watching the Oscar De La Hoya fight. They're hollering and screaming... I'm crying and sighing... (lol)
Everyone thought that I was crying because Oscar got the gitty-up-deputy-dog beat out of him... so they were consoling me. (lol) (lol)
Yeah... poor Oscar...
And Big Money, I was reading what you were saying about Nicky not liking the way she played during the game she lost.
I think a lot of times Nicky plays the scapegoat to absorb blame that doesn't belong to her... protecting her teammates. She's a team player... but her TEAM isn't giving her the touches that she needs to make an impact on the game. If Nicky can carry them in Europe... she can carry them in Israel... if they give her the dang ball.
A.J. Slaughter's mom Bonita (with family in-tow) came to wish my mom a Happy Birthday today... A.J. is in New Orleans. She and Anthony (A.J.'s dad) wanted to ask my advice regarding people trying to contact A.J. to invite him to CP3's point guard camp this summer and other things. I told her to steer any and all offers and invitations to A.J.'s coach.
Isn't it funny how this kid gets a little attention... and now there's a pile-on effect. They're not used to all of these strangers calling their home... It makes them nervous. I told them -- rule of thumb -- when in doubt... don't! Refer all calls to his coach.
There should be NCAA seminars or something for these parents to attend... to bone-up on things like this.
My other cousin, Jodie Meeks, didn't play well at all today... Kentucky lost to #22 Miami. His coach, Billy Gillespie, needs to sit his drunken behind down somewhere... at least until he dries out.
And cash... it really is eerie that we both have pooches named Roxie. My Roxie is a rottweiler mix.
You see, I used to have two grey-eyed pitbulls (Sebastian and Bandit)... but they were so friendly that someone jumped my fence and stole them... full grown pitbulls. I swore that I would never have another pure-bred dog... and go through all of that again.
So, I rescued Roxie and Quentin (a Labrador-mix). Within the first few weeks they lept my fence... chasing a squirrel. They got locked up. I went to bail them out of the dog pound and spotted Pappino (a Chihuahua-mix) on death row. I just couldn't bear the thought of them killing his little behind... So, I paid to take him home with me. And I've been paying ever since. I mean, NOW, I see why he was on death row... with no chance for parole... bad-S Pappino. (lol)
Pappino actually thinks he's a gangster... He bites at you when you wake him up... growls at you when you walk by while he's eating... raises cane when you change the station on TV... And now that Roxie and Quentin are too fat to jump the fence... even they beg me to keep Pappino in the house. They don't want to be bothered with him. (lol) I can't even take him out of town with me... because I think he may be wanted in two or three other states. (lol) He cracks me up... he's just mean for no reason... except when I take him to the dog-wash or the vet. Then he wants to be held... I'm his best friend then. (lol)
Now... fly, do you see why I'd trade Pappino in a heartbeat (if I thought I wouldn't be sued, that is)? (lol) (lol)
Goodnight you guys... and smooches to your pooches.

What kind of a human being would trade their pet? Poor Pappino always has to worry about becoming a hat with you, doesn't he?

No, you're not being paranoid about the play being different in Israel vs. Eurocup. I have noticed it too and I really don't have an answer. Maybe in Israel they have 2 bodies on her, defending her, and lately it has been opening up for Ogorodnikova, who has been having some good games. The coach may have her setting more picks. I did see one photo where she was doing that. That would explain why she's not available for more rebounds. She mentioned in her blog that she didn't like the way she played in the Ramat Hasharon game, so I'm also wondering what's going on. Lack of confidence, fatigue, home sickness? A combination of all three?
I have found a whole page of information on the 2008 Woman of the Year, I haven't looked at it yet, but I believe it has the video of the program. Enjoy! Nicky's mom was great!

Dangit, cash... I missed Nicky Anosike's NCAA Woman of the Year Award show today on ESPN2!
Tell me what I missed. What did she say? I hope I can catch it online somewhere. I really hate that I missed it... especially after you reminded me... twice! Fridays are so hectic for me. I was running all over town dealing with vendors.
Zit... zit zit zit zit ZIT!
About the game Thursday... I don't know, cash... call it intuition, but Nicky's game just didn't feel right to me.
First of all, she only got seven touches(2-7). All of her freethrows (7-8) came from rebound fouls... not off of shot attempts. And if you count the 2 assists she had... she got a total of 9 touches... in 38+ minutes of play.
Then she was taken out of the game for 1:18 minutes in the second quarter while they were down by four points.
And -- get this -- she was taken out for 8 seconds with 5:23 minutes left in the game and her team behind 51-50... 8 seconds!
I don't get it... It seems that every time she plays in the Israel league games, she gets fewer and fewer touches. Now, Big Money... I don't know if that's by coincidence or design.
This is not the first time I've mentioned this to you. In EuroCup games away from Israel, it's a t-total different scenario.
Tell me, cash... am I just being paranoid? Have I turned into a Soccer mom? Help me, Big Money... Call the doctor! (lol)
And fly, my little Pappino is a genuine MUTT... pure-bred. (lol) (lol)
I rescued him from the animal shelter for $143. You'd think since they were going to put him down anyway, they'd GIVE him away to a good home... but no-o-o-o-o-o-o.
I have two other dogs that I rescued from a rescue organization... for FREE! They're Quentin and Roxie... friendly, fat and grateful. (lol) They're outdoor dogs... but Pappino's little behind walks around the house like he's running thangs. Sometimes he forgets that I'm the one who rescued HIM. (lol)
Yep... I'd trade Pappino's little behind in a heartbeat, fly... in a heartbeat! (lol) (lol)

I can't believe you'd trade your dog. What breed is this Pappino? ;-)

You just proved my point. None of those players except Perkins is worth anything.

I'm not sentimental. I'd trade McCarville and a draft pick to get Wauters back guaranteed or a player like Young, Dupree, Fowles or Parker. I'd trade her up, but I wouldn't trade her down. My team is too close to a championship.

Deeo', you were worried about Nicky being taken out of the game, but she played 38:34 hardly sitting at all. What she didn't do was get involved in the game, for whatever reason.
In the first qtr. she had ONE rebound, shot once and made it, and made 2 free throws. The rest of the game wasn't much better.
And don't forget this:

Hopefully she will have a better week next week.

Well, let's sweeten up the pot a little bit, fly. What if I threw in your four Snickers bars and a bag of PEANUT M&Ms, four players (Anna DeForge, Vanessa Hayden-Johnson, Nicole Ohlde and Kristen Rasmussen), a two-for-one Papa John's Pizza coupon AND my trusty dog Pappino? (lol) (lol)
Now, tell me that you could turn this deal down. (lol)
In all honesty -- aside from disliking Rasmussen -- I think what bothers you most about this deal, fly, is the idea of Janel McCarville leaving New York. I'd love for Minnesota to have her, but Janel will never leave New York.
Besides, a third round draft pick is certainly not the blow-off that you say it is.
Charde Houston, Crystal Kelly and A'Quonesia Franklin all came out of the third round of the draft. Heck, even your Cathrine Kraayeveld was a third round pick... along with Jia Perkins and Cathy Joens.
So, don't poo-poo the third round pick. Just admit that you wouldn't give up McCarville for love, money or a Snickers bar. (lol)
Hey, cash... Big Money, Nicky has a game in Israel Monday night... then she's got to hop over to Portugal for the first round of the EuroCup 1/16th Finals on Thursday.
I have two words for her... REST and HYDRATE.

Oh boy, a third round draft pick. The opportunity to bring a player into camp who wouldn't make the team.
> You mean to tell me that... if the Lynx would give up
> Anna DeForge, Nicole Ohlde, Vanessa Hayden-Johnson
> and Kristen Rasmussen AND a third round draft pick

No, that's stupid. Those players suck and a 3rd round pick is worthless. This isn't the NFL. Would you trade a diamond ring for four Snickers bars and a bag of M&Ms? It's a good thing you're not a GM. Honestly, you're terrible at this.
