This conversation has gone from Dirty Diana tackling Seimone, now's she better than Seimone, to justify taking out a world class athlete. Pitiful.

One of the reasons Seimone's one of my favorite players, and I could never be a fan of certain other players...:^O

Whitedude, you keep going on and on about bad coaching keeping the Merc out of the playoffs every year. You act like Paul Westhead suddenly took over in 2007 and then Phoenix won a Championship. That isn't the case. He had been coaching the team 2 seasons prior to that. Did he suddenly go from a bad coach to a good coach in the span of a few seasons, or was it the case (like I've been saying and you've been repeating) that Phoenix's roster improved dramatically.
"Give PHX or MINN a coach like Mike T, and you'll be winning championships every year."
And how many championships has Thibault won? ...exactly.
You give Thibault a team full of allstars (no matter what their names) and they'll lead him to a championship. Detroit has proven this many times over. Heck, the Comets proved it many times over as well...since I think that Van Chancellor is vastly overrated. But can you lose with Swoopes, Cooper, Thompson, ect.?
Look, no one's diminishing Taurasi's talent or her place in the sport, but no one can win a championship anything without help...Help that Seimone is only starting to get in Minny.

That's cute...Unfortunately, neither could win a championship by herself.

Lynxfan89, the Mercury Fans don't listen to reason, they're over here to do damage control for Diana, I want to move on and start talking about our young Lynx, but we're constantly under attack. They have no sympathy or compassion for Seimone, one of the cleanest players in the league, you can't find photo shoots like that of Seimone, you can go all the way back to college, not one clothesline, bone to the back, want find it. Now I see Why Lauren Jackson didn't want to play with her.

The Lynx may have made the playoffs this year if Simone didn't get hurt. They started off good, but they did last year too and then went down the toilet. Same probably would have happened again this year, but who will know. Is SImone as good a player as Taurasi? Not even close, but Simone is still a great player. You don't win 3 titles in college, gold medals in the olympics and a wnba championship if your not one of the best players in the world. Like I said, the only reason the Merc's are not in the playoffs every year is because of bad coaching. The Lynx have had some bad coaching in the past as well, but not as bad as PHX. Taurasi is a tough aggressive force on the court. Simone was always an offensive threat but not as aggressive a player as Taurasi. The reason PHX didn't make the playoffs last year was because (1) Penny Taylor wasn't there, part of their big 3, (2) New head coach after Paul Westhead left, that always impacts a team, (3) Tangela Smith was injured for much of the season, therefore the team lost its main inside presence.
This year, the players are comfortable now with Gaines, Smith is 100%, better point guard and rookie of the year dewanna bonner.
The Lynx have never made the playoffs since Simone arrived. Reasons, bad GM, bad coach in Zierdon, bad support team. Last year, they added Wiggins, Anoskie, Houston to the mix and should have made the playoffs easily. This year, with or without Simone, the team was going to end up at the bottom again. Why? another bad head coach, gillom doesnt have what it takes to be a head coach. My point, you can have all the best players on your team, but have a bad coach and the team is going to go nowhere. Give PHX or MINN a coach like Mike T, and you'll be winning championships every year.
But if any team in the world had to chose either Taurasi or Augustus, it would be Taurasi everyday.

Who knows? Could they have beaten Detroit without Cappie? Penny? Tangela?

As great as Katie Smith is, it took her leaving Minnesota, and being surrounded by a talented group of teammates in Detroit for her to get her 3 rings.

I guess I did make my point
Phoenix/Taurasi didn't make the playoffs and win their championship until Penny was on the team, Cappie was drafted and Tangela was acquired. Coincidentally, Phoenix didn't make the playoffs last year when Penny didn't play, and Tangela was hurt for a large chunk of the season. As stellar as Diana is, she still couldn't get them over the hump.
And unless they're all named Candace Parker, you're reaching if you think that having 3 rookies help lead your team (as Minny did last season) can be compared to having veteran allstars help lead your team. Ever wonder why despite the incredible draft Minny had last year, they were still predicted not to make the playoffs, but now that those same three players had a year under their belt, Minny was expected to make some noise??
And prior to Augustus' injury, the Lynx were also off to a great start...Their only loss being the same team that handed Phoenix an additional loss. So it looks like this year, after being on a team with either rookies or mediocre players at best, she was finally going to lead the Lynx somewhere.

Have the LYnx made the play offs in the past five years?
It honestly doesn't matter how many times you go...bringing home the hardware is the point, and we have a Championship trophy that can never ever be taken away!
