Lior, please accept my apologies for what I agree was not a favorable snipe at your Israeli basketball league.

However, it was not intended to offend you or Safsal (as I was unaware that you were visiting our blog), but it was an insensitive attempt to vent my frustrations regarding being censored on this blog and regarding events that occurred in your Israeli league that made no sense to me... based on the information that your website provided.

Our discussions here tend to be vigorous... and I -- in particular -- tend to be passionate about my opinions and beliefs... as I am sure you are, too.

For instance, in America, our sportsnews sources would have reported on major sponsors withdrawing their support from a team as a news story... especially if it drastically changed the team.

Without this information, it makes no sense that the team would first (on Jan. 4th) drop their second leading scorer in both EuroCup and league play... and then turn around (on Jan. 12th) and drop their leading scorer and rebounder in EuroCup play and their leading rebounder and third leading scorer in league play. And all of this happened after the team got rid of their starting point guard and starting small forward one week prior to your Israeli Cup last month -- despite the team being undefeated in EuroCup play and in a five-way tie for first place in your Israeli league at the time.

That's four of your starting five gone -- poof -- just like that!

In America, successful teams tend to hold on to their leading scorers and rebounders throughout the season. We have a saying... If it's not broken; don't fix it!

As for what is customary for European basketball leagues... this is my first experience with following women's basketball beyond our NCAA Championships... due to Nicky Anosike's emergence into the WNBA and into your Israeli league.

It has been quite a humbling experience... due to language barriers, blocked access to webcasts of games, foreign concepts and approaches to one of our nation's favorite pastimes (basketball), and foreign fans' reactions to our favorite players.

But without Safsal to link me to your Israeli league, it would have been next to impossible for me to follow Nicky's play there.

So, for your website, I am grateful. And for this interaction with you, I am appreciative... of your point of view and your time.

Shalom.

Every league in Europe has a Cup tournament and a Championship. Every league's Championship is held at the end of the season. That is common knowledge for anyone following European basketball. As for the holding the cup in December - we wrote it shouldn't be on Christmas, not that is can't be in December. Holding the cup in December has its pros and cons. I don't know what 40 leagues in Europe do, I only care about a few.

I really don't know what you mean about last season. Last season ended with ramla winning game 4 of the finals series. The cup was weeks before that. Here's the championship game recap.... www.safsal.co.il/earticle.aspx?id=11875
You are confused if you thought the cup is the championship. Safsal obviously covered the cup in March, and then the playoffs and finals in April.

Thanks for the compliments to our site. It sure is a lot better to read than your previous post which stated our leauge belonged in a padded cell. That post was very offensive.

Final line here on Nicky - the financial crisis caused two of Ramla's biggest sponsors to stop supporting the team. Ramla let her go. Simple as that, and it happened in other Eurpean teams as well.

Let's see, Lior... was it... uh... you and your website (Safsal) that strongly protested the Israeli league holding your Israeli Cup through Christmas instead of at the end of the season? I believe it was. So, if I'm misinformed, Lior... that's thanks in large part -- to you.

Is there a league championship?

The Israeli Cup championship was the last thing your website reported on from the prior season... as if it were your league championship. And that was the first article I read on Safsal when I first visited your website back in September 2008.

I saw no mention of a league championship winner... just an Israeli Cup championship winner... Elitzur Ramla.

So, if the Cup is not your league championship... when is your league championship?

Finally, I've always found Safsal to be an informative, proficient, reliable, fan-friendly, up-to-date website to keep me abreast of the women's Israeli league and Nicky Anosike.

What I know about your league, I learned from YOU and Safsal.

It's quite unfortunate -- at this late date -- to find out that I have not been informed as well as I thought I had been.

At any rate... while I have you on the hook... if holding the Israeli Cup during Christmas was such a common practice overseas... why did your website speak out against it... and devote such a lengthy article regarding it?

You only named three or four countries out of over 40 in FIBA EuroCup that hold tournaments through Christmas. Hmm... that seems to support your website's stance against the idea.

In closing, Lior, I would like to thank you, Orli and Safsal for accommodating our many requests and queries in a timely manner throughout the first half of your season... and for keeping us informed (or misinformed, as you may believe). It has truly been a pleasure to enter your domain... and quite an adventure to experience your Israeli basketball.

Shalom.

deeo'rumpshaker, quick advise - stop talking about things you clearly know nothing about.
The Cup is NOT the championship. It is a tournament compeletly unrleated to the championship. Many countries hold it in December, such as Spain, Slovaika and more, Turkey hold it at the start of the season. Saving money has nothing to do with it.

Jeepers, cash... it's 2ºF here... b-r-r-r. Is Jack Frost nipping at your nose, too?

What I had alluded to in my post (before it was mysteriously yanked out of this thread by the censors) is that it was nuts how the Israeli basketball league moved their league championship from the end of the season to the middle of the season. (And I mentioned a few other reasons why Is-__-el belonged in a padded cell. And the rest is history. lol)

But now that I think about it... the Israelis may have moved their championship to save money.

Instead of paying the Americans for the entire season, they could use the Americans for half of a season... to qualify for EuroCup... and then dump them to finish out the season with Israeli players and foreign journeymen.

Look at the money they saved by moving their Israeli Cup Championship to mid-season.

They were only drawing 100 or so spectators per game (280 for the league championship game). So, how much money were they really making off of the league?

Whatever...

I posted Nicky's and Tan White's availability on FIBAeurope.com and eurobasket.com. Maybe some other team in EuroCup will pick them up. Who knows?

No, I didn't get to read your post before it disappeared into thin air. I can't see a thing wrong with anything you just posted. I really am shocked though that they let Big Nick go, especially since she was doing so well in the EuroCup. I wonder if all of this took place before the break, at least that way she could tie up any loose ends while she was still there, apartment etc. But MAINLY, I wonder about her jersey................lol

When I read the article about Tan being let go they put a quote from Eli Rabi that said "I still believe in our team, we'll have to make the right changes", then Safsal put the tag on at the end of that statement--more changes are possible. I thought that letting Nicky go might be what they were referring to, just had a feeling. I hope she gets to play somewhere if she is interested, if not, then I'll see her when the W starts back.

Oh, my goodness, cash... I hope you read my post before it got removed by THE MEN IN BLACK. (lol)

There were no obscenities in it... just facts about the Israeli women's basketball league... and their fans.

Maybe that was obscene enough. (lol)

There was no hatred or anti-Semitism in my post... just honest commentary about the Israeli basketball league and their fans.

What's with the WNBA censorship going overboard? This is still America... isn't it? Home of the free?

I tell you what, Big Money, I agree with you now. Maybe it is a good thing that Nicky doesn't have to go back over there. There's too much going on... even to the point of politicizing the censorship of an American sports blog. Jeepers!

All I was saying was... It's just a shame that Nicky is leading over 500 players in EuroCup play in rebounding (13.3 rebounds per game) and double-doubles (7 double-doubles out of 8 games)... is 8-0 in EuroCup play... is 12th in scoring (18.5 points per game) and freethrow percentage (81.8%)... and she is not going to get the opportunity to continue to play in EuroCup play.

That's typically what happens to Nicky Anosike. She' gets the short end of the stick. And that's not right... and it just ain't fair!

Now, censor that, Will Smith! (lol)

Well, well, well......Ramla let Tan White go back on Jan 4. Now I read where Nicky won't be back either, blaming it on financial difficulties. This came out on Jan 12th. I've been looking at different places to see if anyone has picked either player up, but I haven't seen anything yet. Personally, I'm glad they won't be over there because of the situation with Gaza. Who knows, both may take the next few months off and just enjoy their time off before the W starts.

Happy New Year, cash! May God continue to bless you and yours in all seasons that are to come.

I corrected the link on Nicky's blog. You'll have to help me keep an eye out for any assistance mj23 or RAMLA FAN may need... so that we can navigate them through the access process.

Keep me posted. I'll be extraordinarily busy through the presidential inauguration... with our Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration and our Barack Obama Inauguration viewing party.

Oh... and there's only one thing worse than decorating and stocking up for New Year's Eve... and that's cleaning up on New Year's Day. (lol) What a mess!

I even had confetti in my underwear. Now... how did that get there? (lol)

Happy New Year!!!!!!

The link took me to the NBA Fan Voice (I think--because it was similar to this but blue in color, where ours is orange) and it said "Sorry, the specified topic 1800001671 was not found". So......are you going to give mj23 the correct address? AND, that if he wants to register that you will help if he needs it?

And yes, I read Ramla Fan's plea to Nicky to score more poines. I didn't understand what she was saying when she said "and this year we need the poines of the american players and just ten gide a poines." And what did you make of the ending? I don't know, a friend of mj's perhaps?

There is some information (I hope useful to all of You) about Nicky’s new team.

In the season 2003/2004 AZS Gorzow took the first place in polish 1. league and entered to the highest polish women basketball league (named: ekstraklasa).

AZS Gorzow in polish women basketball ekstraklasa:
Season 2004/2005 – eighth place
Season 2005/2006 – fifth place
Season 2006/2007 – fourth place
Season 2007/2008 – third place (bronze medal – it was the first medal in the history of senior women basketball team Gorzow’s club)

The great (and very, very dificault) goal for the 2008/2009 season is to play final (that means, that ambitious goal is to be at least the second women basketball team in Poland).

In seasons: 2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2006/2007 and 2007/2008, the final play was the matter only between two most known polish clubs:
Wisla Krakow (Cracow)
and
Lotos Gdynia.

In December 2008 our staff was looking for player matching to the specific way of play Gorzow’s team (strong defense and quick attack). Nicky seemed to be a player we need, but only the future will bring the answer, if Nicky matches to Gorzow’s way of play.

P.S.
I’m sorry because of my very poor english.

:^O I'm telling you deeo', eyes and ears are everywhere!! :^O

Now of course, I had to go check it out and I have found a website: www.azspwszgorzow.pl/

But Bezet, is there any more tv stations, websites, live scoreboards, anything that you can give us to maybe watch their games or follow their games live? We would appreciate anything that you can give us.

Nicky has signed with the polish team named:

KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzow Wielkopolski
(KSSSE - short name of the main sponsor of the club; AZS PWSZ - short name of the club; Gorzow Wielkopolski - name of the city in the west part of Poland).

Nicky is coming to Gorzow on Wednesday, the 28-th January and right now she will start training and recognize teammates.

The regular season of the polish women basketball league will end in March 2009. The next play of the Gorzow's team will be on Sunday, the 8-th February

Check this out, cash:
www.fibaeurope.com/cid_KNce8jInH7Qj1EsyH5rjn2.compID_Rn2Om4j3HOcXtTFwJWFsh3.coid_99ukxnjAIOUgNmHk2wg4j2.articleMode...

They say in this article that Nicky is arguably the best player in EuroCup.

It's just a shame that Nicky won't get a chance to finish what she started.

Well, Nicky Anosike is the best in my book... all the dang time!

Oh... and Amen to your Obama-gram, cash. You sound really pumped.

You know, Big Money... despite being a sista, I was a Hillary Clinton supporter.

And I have to admit that I was more excited about Hillary taking over the State Department than I was about Barack Obama taking over the White House.

It was quite a personal accomplishment for President Obama... a black man... to become President of the United States of America. But unfortunately, many black people felt that his inauguration was the end of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream... when it was merely the realization of Barack Obama's dream.

Dr. King's dream was not the basis of a single dream... It was the basis of many dreams... your dream... my dream... anyone who has the audacity to aspire, to work hard, to leap for something that's just slightly out of their reach, to persevere... to dream.

For our King Day celebration, my brother -- an unbelievable artist -- transitioned a black and white photo of Dr. King (alone and pondering to himself) into a full color photo. It looked remarkably like a color photo of Dr.King.

The black and white photo of Dr. King symbolized the black and white struggle in America during the Civil Rights Movement... and the dream of equality being only philosophical.

The color version of the same photo symbolized the evolution of the struggle for equality in America... out of the dark into the light. It also symbolized that the future is bright for all to realize their dreams... just like Barack Obama.

So, inasmush as Pres. Obama has captured his dream... it's now your turn and mine.

I hope that he continues to inspire the people of this nation. And I hope that they realize that their part didn't end at the ballot box.

There is a tremendous amount of work to be done. And we must all pitch in and lend a hand... through public, community and civil service.

There's no pressure on Pres. Obama. He has nowhere to go but up. He can't possibly be worse than the other guy. (lol)

I believe he'll do just fine... at least, I hope so. (lol)

It was good to hear from Lior. I'm glad she signed up, stopped in, and gave us the real scoop of what's going on over there. We never would have known otherwise. I still visit Safsal to see what's going on, several teams have made roster changes. It just amazes me that they make sweeping changes like that to a team.

It has been an adventure trying to follow Nicky overseas hasn't it? I still haven't found any new information if she has joined another team, and that video was done around new year and the one doing the video said that Nicky was playing in Israel (and badly mispronounced Ramla, if I'm not mistaken).

I remember you posting that you would be busy through the inauguration. Well, you made it through all the celebrations in one piece. Now don't think bad of me, but I don't usually get fired up about politics nor inaugurations. But this year was different, I sat there glued to the tv. Wasn't the inauguration amazing? I don't know why I was so moved by all the pomp, but I truly enjoyed the whole thing. I really felt a sense of hope as the President was giving his speech, I had to listen to it again yesterday to see if I missed anything the first time through. Our country is in such a mess, I truly want him to succeed and I hope everyone else in our nation does too. It doesn't matter what color his skin is, he is our leader, he deserves our prayers and our support. I told my husband that I would hate to be in his shoes right now with all the things he is having to deal with. Can you imagine having the weight of the country on your shoulders? It would be hard even when the country is enjoying good times, but harder still when the country is struggling through these hard times. Well, I'm done preaching, did you amen me on any of that? ;-)

I saw where Coach Yow had passed away, and I want to extend my condolences to the Yow family. She will be missed.

Happy King Day, cash! I hope the Day of the Dreamer was a good one for you and yours.

We've been tremendously busy from the Thursday before Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday Holiday through Wednesday of this week... with President Barack Obama's inauguration... and the afterglow. Black folk are tired, Big Money. (lol) I mean... we really celebrated around here.

Yep, it's been a big week in the 'hood... and it seems... the world.

Thanks for the video, cash. I've been neglecting my Nicky these past few days. But I've been peeping in... here and there.

As you can see, we had company last week. (lol) (lol) (lol)

I certainly hope Lior drops by more often... great exchange.

My comments about the Israeli basketball league were insensitive... But for a team that was undefeated in EuroCup and tied for first place in their Israeli league to just get rid of four of their starting five... leading scorers and rebounders... appeared to be an act of INSANITY!

But with the information that she provided to us in this blog (about the sponsors dumping Nicky's team), it turns out that Nicky's team isn't CRAZY, after all... just unfortunate... a victim of circumstances.

Including that information when they reported the original stories would have eliminated a lot of confusion.

But Lior must understand what we do or don't know about her Israeli league is not our faults... but hers and Safsal. They're our biggest source of information.

Big Money, this has truly been a great adventure... to go through all that we have gone through... just to follow Nicky Anosike halfway around the world this past year. (lol)

We both have Homeland Security files now. The FBI knows our usernames... our identities... our addresses... our religious and political affiliations... our friends and families... and... uh... our favorite women's basketball player. (lol) Heck... the government didn't know this much about me when I was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps... over 30 years ago. (lol)

But it's a new year... hopefully, filled with new adventures.

I'm gamed, Big Money... and I know you are. (lol)

Before I go... I want to celebrate the life and legacy of Coach Kay Yow. We just got another angel, Big Money. Rest in peace, Coach.

Hey, cash and Bezet... check this out www.fibaeurope.com/coid_U1rHN-zVHS-PqdWjCLKcb0.articleMode_on.container_frontp...

I gotta run again. I'm getting absolutely no work done... browsing for Nicky news.

We've got to get ready for the Super Bowl... busy... busy... busy.

And it doesn't help that we got around 6-8 inches of snow and rain and snow and rain again... Monday through Wednesday. It's a mess here... every tree is caked with ice... beautiful but dangerous. Power lines and trees are down everywhere. Trees toppling over (by their roots) from the weight of the ice. We're lucky... so far. Just waiting on the sun to pop up and melt some of this ice. How's the weather where you guys are? Better, I hope.

> ......... Bezet, can fans purchase team jerseys?
deeo, I think the best you can do is to write an e-mail to the Gorzow club (write in English). I’m sure they tell you whether you can purchase team jerseys and – if YES - how to do it.

e-mail address is: azs@pwsz.pl

cash, my congratulations because of your very good understanding of a website PLKK (despite of this site is in Polish – a very difficult language).

1. Yes, you’re the right, directly under the words “transmisje live”, links to “live scoreboards” are used to be located.
Nowadays in Gdynia eight polish junior women basketball teams (more exactly: "senior junior" – that means: age less than 21 years) are fighting for championship of Poland. Therefore there is a link to on-line scoreboards of all meetings senior junior teams in Gdynia. By the way, in Gdynia in senior junior AZS Gorzow team play 3 girls who also are members of senior Gorzow team. They are: Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk (19), Justyna Maruszczak (18) and Claudia Trebicka (18).

2. Shortcut PLKK (sometimes also called FGE) IS CONCERNING polish WOMEN SENIOR BASKETBALL “EKSTRAKLASA” teams (and ONLY for theese teams).

3. Always when PLKK games are played, on www.plkk.pl under the words “transmisje live” appears a link (or several links) to on-line scoreboards of each meeting (link appears 5 – 20 minutes before start of each game). Then, you can watch a scoreboard of each game in its own window.

4. There’s no live scoreboards of practice games.

Man, cash, if Plenette Pierson tries her dirty basketball tricks on Nicky... she just might end up with her arm in a sling... again. Remember Indiana's Ebony Hoffman in the WNBA playoffs against Detroit... the game after Plenette took a cheap shot and slugged Tamika Catchings? Ebony flipped Plenette like a dime. Sometimes, payback is oh so sweet. (lol)

I just hope that Plenette doesn't play dirty overseas.

And I hope that Nicky fits in well with her new team. I know that she can help them win a championship if they take the time to work her into their scheme and use her strengths.

Nicky knows basketball... and she's smart enough to pick up their plays in a hurry. I just hope their point guard makes sure that she gets enough touches to be a scoring threat in the lane.

I'm just too excited right now, Big Money. I'll add more later.

A key to a car. I like that. Does a US driver license work in Poland? I would like to be able to see their practice game Saturday against CCC Polkowice. I read where Plenette Pierson plays for CCC and scored 31 points today. Nicky will have her hands full if she has to guard her.

Bezet, any information on how to watch games online? I see the word LIVE in red on the PLKK website. But it looks like a junior league. PZKosz--they say that they present on-line broadcasts of all meetings. Do you think this is for Nicky's team too?

Cash, did you hear that? Our Nicky is going to be wearing the big blackjack (#21) on her back in Poland!

And she's practicing with the team already! I'm too excited... I may have to be excused, people. (lol)

Bezet, you are our Polish ESPN! I love it!

You guys are going to LOVE Nicky Anosike! And she is ready to lock and load... rock and roll... boogie, baby!

Nicky's exact quote, I bet you, was: "I'll do whatever it takes to help my team win."

That's my Nicky.

Big Money, I have to get one of her jerseys. Bezet, can fans purchase team jerseys?

Nicky today at 01:50 PM has arrived to Germany (to Berlin) and two hours later arrived to Gorzow.

After short greeting, Nicky has got a Gorzow club’s scarf, a jersey with number 21 and a key to the car.
Nicky has said, she always plays for win and to win. Also said, she's arrived to Gorzow to help the team in a battle for championship of Poland.

Nicky has also been on the first training with her new team.

At first I must tell you - I’m not a member of the Gorzow’s club authorities. Also, I’m even not a member of the Fans Club of Gorzow’s team. I’m only simple fan our basket team. So I have not special (“at first hand”) information concering AZS PWSZ Gorzow.

And now, the ANSWERS.

> But just in case... is there an English
> translation button on these websites?
As far as I know - there isn’t.

> And Bezet, how can we view Nicky's upcoming games
> over the internet?
> KSSSE AZS PWSZ - Utex Row Rybnik
> 08.02.09 g. 18:40
> TVP Sport
I don’t know. I watch games using my local cable TV only. But I’ll try to find out about possibility using Internet to watch games PLKK and how to do it.

> And how can we access and view the press conference
> on January 28, 2009, when Nicky arrives in Poland?
If the press conference will take place, I’ll show you link to listen to (to view?) it.

> Do you know what her jersey number will be?
I don’t know. I think Nicky’s jersey number is unknown so far.

> When is the first game Nicky is expected to play in
> with her new team?
I suppose it will be on Saturday the 31-st January. The club is planning to play on Saturday a control game against CCC Polkowice (place and time: Gorzow, 5:30 PM Warsaw time).

P.S.
Notice.
Par example:
New York (NY time - now): 10:30 AM
Gorzow (Warsaw time - now): 04:30 PM.

And how can we access and view the press conference on January 28, 2009, when Nicky arrives in Poland?

Do you know what her jersey number will be?

When is the first game Nicky is expected to play in with her new team?

When we are talking about polish women basketball “ekstraklasa”, the main source of information is internet site:

www.plkk.pl

(Polska Liga Koszykowki Kobiet - that means: Polish Women Basketball League)
Shortcut: PLKK

Being on PLKK site you can reach internet sites most of polish teams playing in PLKK.

On PLKK site you can read:
- rosters of the teams (nowadays and in the past)
- schedules (nowadays and in the past)
- standings (nowadays and in the past)

I think ... no no .... I’m sure you can read and understand site PLKK. I’ll try to help you to do it.

So, let’s start with vocabulary.

On the left site of PLKK site you can see:

Aktualnosci – News
Kluby – Clubs
Zawodniczki – Players
Terminarz i wyniki – Schedule and results
Tabela ligowa – Standings
Statystyki – Stats
Zawodniczka tygodnia – Player of the week
Archiwum – Archives

Liderki - Leaders
wiecej rankingow – more leaders

On the right site of tke PLKK site (beginning with the top) you can see:

Blogi = Blogs
Multimedia – You can listen to players
Galeria zdjec - Photos

Nastepne mecze – Next plays
Ostatnie mecze – Last plays

Tabela PLKK – Standings (to see full Standings push “pelna tabela” at the end of “Tabela PLKK”)

I... uh... uh... I mean... uh... I'm in shock, cash. Give me a minute.

The Ohlde-Pringle trade was actually a great trade. LaToya Pringle has a lot of upside to her... and her wingspan is awesome. But she doesn't take up enough room in the lane to play center. She'll most likely fill Nicole Ohlde's spot at forward.

Great trade, Roger... but you could have left Kelly Miller in the desert. She's a gunner with no really good results. She just likes to shoot... nothingelse. She's energetic and fit... and would be a nice bow on the next trade package.

The Lindsey Harding trade is a great trade for Lindsey. She deserves a team and a coach like The Plank who believes in her. She's a great talent... and will be a great floor general for the Mystics. I'm happy for Sheila Johnson. Great get!

The 9th and 15th picks in the upcoming WNBA Draft may or may not be a good exchange for the MiniLynx. It just depends on how deep this year's draft will be. I sure hope the Lynx got some cash for Lindesy, too. Draft picks are a gamble. Who's going to be around for the 9th and 15th picks?

Vanessa Hayden-Johnson must have been given a choice of which team she wanted to be traded to. She came out on the upside of that deal. I'm happy for her and her family. She will really benefit from a nurturer like Lisa Leslie. But she's going to have to really get herself in good shape in order to keep her job when Candace Parker returns.

But Christi Thomas... why did the Lynx go for her? Why didn't they sweeten the pot with Kristen Rasmussen or Roneeka Hodges or Kelly Miller and get Sidney Spencer instead?

Now, with Lindsey gone... does the Lynx front office think it can get a point guard out of the draft... someone like Maryland's Kristi Toliver?

I wouldn't bank on it. I'd sure be putting a nice little deal together to get a real heady point guard like A'Quonesia Franklin from the Monarchs. They're really guard-heavy. With someone like A'Q at the point, Coach Don Zierden can continue to doze off on the sidelines... she's capable enough to get the job done... without him.

A'Q has a great handle on the ball. She's low to the ground... very few turnovers. She's also an outside threat from behind the three-point arc. And she will be able to get the ball to Seimone Augustus, Candice Wiggins, Charde Houston and Nicky Anosike where they can do the most damage.

A'Q won't allow the offense to be stagnant. She'll keep the motion in the offense.

With Seimone, Candice, Charde and Nicky, the MiniLynx have a helluva racecar... but no driver.

A'Q would be a great driver.

Hey... what happened to Rasmussen? She doesn't appear on the WNBA players' roster anymore. Did she quit? Did the Lynx trade her?

I'm just holding my breath, Big Money. I hope that the Lynx front office makes all the right moves to get a strong supporting cast around their main actors. So far... not so bad, Roger... not so bad.

We got a little sunshine today. I'm thawing out alittle... but more snow on Monday. Pray for me... and the rest of the black eskimos in the 'hood. (lol)

Hey deeo', have you seen all the trading that the Lynx have done today? Vanessa Hayden for Chrisi Thomas, Nicole Ohlde for LaToya Pringle and Kelly Miller? I like Pringle, I liked watching her play at North Carolina, and she's doing really well in Israel. She is a center too. It will be interesting to see how they work Pringle and Big Nick.

cash, in Poland there’s a few websites of basketball fans. One of them is “Forum Koszykowki Kobiet” (Forum Women Basketball) destinated for women basketball fans.
link: kosz.webd.pl/kkforum/index.php

You can see on this site (on the left side):
Aktualnosci – News
Kibice – Fans (I think it’s rather not for fans from USA because it is a “specific” folder, rather for polish fans only)
I liga – First league
Koszykowka mlodziezowa – Youth basketball

And then:
Fora klubowe – Forums club’s (with several subforums)
Inside “Fora klubowe” is subforum destinated for fans of KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzow.

Notice cash, if you are on Gorzow club’s site (http://www.azspwszgorzow.pl/) and if you, being there, push “Forum KK”, you will be moved straight to subforum destinated for fans of KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzow (which is a part of “Forum Koszykowki Kobiet”.

cash, you’ve the right. User of “Forum Koszykowki Kobiet” with nickname “Bezet” doesn’t exist.
I don’t know if you will surely recive the answer for your post in English (placed? put? – I don’t know how to say that) on polish fans Forum, but I think it is very possible you will. Be patient and just wait.

Hey, deeo’ and cash.

At first, there’s a link to the press conference (short version) after Nicky’s arrival to the Gorzow gym hall. Qustions to Nicky and Nicky’s answers you can hear starting with (about) 2:20 of recording.

When you’ll open that site, you should see an article: “Nicky Anosike już w Gorzowie”. There you can see “Multimedia” next to Nicky’s photo.
Then start to replay “Relacja dźwiÄ™kowa z konferencji prasowej”. If recording doesn’t start try to move on (slightly) a microphone picture (located next to “Relacja dzwiekowa ......... “) and then once again try to replay.

P.S.
I remember your questions with no (my) answers. Answers will be done soon sequentially.

Bezet, my fabulous Polish is limited to my handy list of Polish Phrases that I discovered on the internet. (lol)

I am just so appreciative that you are communicating with us in English, that I want to make some attempt to oblige you in your own language.

But beyond Dzień dobry! Miłego dnia! -- and -- Nie panikuj! Chce mi się siusiu!... I know absolutely nothing about how to communicate in Polish. (lol) (lol) (lol)

Cash, sunny and warm? Do you have a spare room... for a frozen friend? I'm on my way! (lol)

Did you see where Tennessee Lady Vols Coach Pat Summitt got victory 999 in a squeaker against Ole Miss?

I just love that lady! Oklahoma is going to be victory 1,000!

Getting back to Nicky... when is the first game we can track on the scoreboard? What is the website for the scoreboard? And when is the first game we can view on a webcast? And what is the website for that?

And cash, you were reading my mind on the Forum link on the PLKK website. Hmmmm... (lol)

And deeo', I saw that article on Nicky yesterday. KSSSE is also in the Eurocup but they did not make it to the final rounds. Such a shame, Nicky could have continued to dominate in the Eurocup--just on another team. I also read an article on the KSSSE team's website that said Nicky had gone through all of the formalities and was cleared to play for her new team.

The weather here is pretty for this time of year. Highs-mid 40's, lows-mid 20's. That's Fahrenheit Bezet!!! And sunny.

Also, deeo', I've been meaning to ask........Are you close enough to attend any WNBA games or are you like a gazillion miles away from a coliseum? It would take me around 3 hours to actually be able to see a game.

I also can see you use correctly polish "Å„" instead "n" and polish "Å‚" instead "l". I'm very impressed.

I'm definitely jealous of your weather there. I'll take alittle fog anyday.

How is our Nicky adjusting to her new team and city?

Please let me know when Nicky makes her first post.

Gotta get some shut-eye. My day starts early on Fridays. So, I'll write more later.

Thomas/Hayden-Johnson trade was a waste of time. I believe both Minnesota and the Sparks will end up waiving these players. Neither on has been given a constract yet, just a sigh-in-trade deal.

yes, cash, I too was shocked by the Harding deal, specailly since all we got was draft choices. I also liked the Ohlde trade too, cause we get a vet point in Miller and a good post in Pringle. and no i don't think the thomas/hayden-johnson trade really help the lynx out in any way.

Thank you Bezet for the articles and the update of the game today, it was a tie with no overtime. Did you go see the game? It said there were about 400 fans, that's pretty good for a practice game. If you were able to see it, how many minutes did Nicky get to play, and how many rebounds did she get? I like the statistics of the games.

Also Bezet, in the article “Mam charakter zwyciÄ™zcy!” when it mentioned the car that Nicky received, did it say that she would be recognized all over the city because her picture would be on the car? It might not have translated that right.

Now, back to the trading.....I'm not sure I understand about Vanessa's trade. Did this make the team better? I liked Ohlde's trade. But I will be honest, I didn't see the Harding trade coming, was this a shock to anyone else? And for draft picks. MORE young and inexperienced players. I liked your idea about the Lynx being a fast team, deeo'. A run and gun style might be just what they are aiming for. Time will tell.

That would be great if the Lynx got Angel with the 4th pick in the draft. I do agree they should run more. But the only thing is will Angel still be around for them to take. I thought she was projected to be 2 or 3 picks (which isn't us)

Bezet! Your video link of Nicky Anosike's press conference upon arriving in Poland has me so excited! I can't go to sleep! I got off at 3:30 a.m. -- in time to help Serena Williams win the Australian Open. Then I read your post. Now, I'm too pumped to close my eyes. I just had to thank you before I nod-out. Thank you, Bezet.

What the rest of these guys are talking about right now are the changes that Nicky's WNBA team (the Minnesota Lynx) has made this week in preparation for the upcoming season that begins in May 2009.

You can check out the players we're talking about by going to the "players" link at the top of this screen. Feel free to jump right in.

Hey, Jumanjijam and Istevie... meet and welcome Bezet... our eyes and ears on the ground in Poland... where Nicky just signed to play.

Jumanjijam... while I agree with you, I certainly hope that Istevie is right. But I just can't bring myself to trust the Minnesota front office until all the dealing is done.

I don't think Kristi Toliver will be around for the 9th pick. But I think she'll be around for the fourth pick.

However, MY preference for the Lynx's 4th pick is Angel McCoughtry out of Louisville (by way of Baltimore).

Angel is about 6"0"... quick as all-get-out, fit, slight of build... and can flat-out fill it up.

She's a primetime scorer from behind the three-point arc and slashing into the lane.

Angel has a great first step... and poof... she's at the rim. I'd compare her speed and quickness to Charde Houston's... lightning fast.

She's a solid rebounder... and a magnet to loose balls and steals. She has a great handle on the ball and loves to run the floor.

Angel McCoughtry would fit in great with the fast-breaking team that opened the season with a 5-0 winning streak for the MiniLynx last season.

Minnesota can't just pick up a lot of players without deciding what kind of team they're going to be.

I think the Lynx should run, run, run... use their quickness on defense to generate turnovers to score in transition... but stack its deck with slashers and sharpshooters who can generate their own offense when their halfcourt sets stall (like their plays were proned to do this past season).

Now, is that asking too much? (lol)

**** update ****

Hey, cash... I must have just missed you.

Thanks for the info on Kristen Rasmussen. I didn't know.

While I hate to see anyone lose their job, I do not think she fits in well with the type of team the Lynx has to reconfigure itself into. But I wish her all the best and hope she gets picked up by another team that suits her style of play.

And now, there’s a link to an article (title: “Mam charakter zwyciÄ™zcy!” – To be a winner, that’s my character!) with a video of press conference.
A man (in a blue blouse), coming in with Nicky, this is a second coach of our team – Mr Janusz Wierzbicki. A bold man this is a vice-President of Gorzow club - Mr Ireneusz Madej and –finally - a man in a white sweater this is a President of KSSSE (main sponsor of the team) - Mr Krzysztof Dolganow.

Teams trade to get instant results .... not to hopefully win a playoff series sometime in 2010-2014.

That's why San Antonio got Becky Hammon in a trade. Phoenix got Tangela Smith in a trade. They made the playoffs that year in 2007.
Phoenix won the Championship thanks to that trade.

Instant results, means not banking on potential.

The 9th pick will be a good pick for the Minnesota Lynx: There are really good players in the first round: They have a chance to get Chante Black, Walker, Toliver, ashly parish, D. Hampton, R. McCants, K, Ellis, T, Starks, and other decent centers or forwards who will be available. Yes, draft picks are a gamble. But every player in the wnba was once a draft pick.

As far the 15th pick, if the lynx play their cards right, they just may find another Charda Houston: How About Aja Mah or another sleeper. So be encouraged. It's looking like a good year for the lynx.

Hey, cash... Hey, Bezet... Jeepers... it was a long busy weekend for me. How was yours?

I did set my alarm to check out Nicky's game Saturday.

I like Coach Dariusz's game-plan for Nicky. He went to her early and often. In fact, Nicky scored the first basket of the game.

I'm wondering if Nicky was attacking the rim or hitting her baby jumper. She shot 64%... with only 3 freethrows... only one offensive board... and only one foul (that's GREAT) in the first half. I'm guessing her jumpers were dropping... because she's not going to the line and she's not in position to get on the offensive boards. I think also that Nicky may have scored off of a couple of steals... I'm just not sure what the Polish stats abbreviations were.

Help us, Bezet! What do these abbreviations stand for: "fw" "s" "p" "bo"?

Nicky did most of her damage in the first half... with about 13 points and 6 rebounds. Coach Dariusz rested her as much as he could... taking her out for the last minute-and-a-half of each quarter. But I think they put the clamps on Nicky in the second half... holding her to about 8 points and 3 boards.

Nicky did a great job getting ready for the game. She never disappoints her teammates and her fans. I just love her!

But cash... I really hate that she didn't get her double-double. Just one more rebound... ooowee! But I can understand Coach Dariusz. Nicky picked up her third foul with 4 minutes left in the game... and her team had blown the game wide open -- over 20 points. Why risk her getting injured? He took her out. Great coaching! Nicky is just going to have to get it done early-on in the game.

And Big Money... Nicky played a pretty smart game... a little soft on the boards but no foul trouble... great concentration to finish her shots... great focus at the freethrow line (100%)... and great awareness to get the ball to the open shooter for her 4 assists. She played a real heady game... a real smart cookie. That's my Nicky!

Will there be a scoreboard for the next game, Bezet? I noticed that it's not listed as a LIVE transmission.

And cash, how did you translate the entire page? I really enjoyed being able to read it. You're just like Christmas, Big Money. Thank you.

Oh, and by the way, cash... Nicky's birthday is coming up on the 27th... You get the cake, Big Money, and I'll take care of the rest. Everybody loves a party! (lol)

Nicky's team won today. I finally found the stats for the game. Nicky must be in pretty good shape because she played 31 minutes.
74.125.47.100/translate_c?hl=en&sl=pl&tl=en&u=http://www.plkk.pl/index.php%3Fp%3Dgames%26id%3D2167&usg=ALkJrhh2eKRpyja96gw8_zF-JI...

21 points and 9 rebounds, and I think 4 assists. I can't be sure what the other columns are.

And Bezet, in that last interview with Nicky, when they asked her the question about Israel, I didn't understand her reply. Could you translate that for me please?

.

Tomorrow Nicky's first league game in polish "Ekstraklasa" (or in "PLKK", or in "FGE" - that means the same).

AZS Gorzow will fight against Utex Row Rybnik. The game will start in Gorzow on Saturday at 06:00 PM (Gorzow time). A link to on-line scoreboard of that game will apear on PLKK site (www.plkk.pl) about 20 minutes before beginning the game. The link will be on the left side of PLKK site, under "Transmisje live".

There are bad news from Gorzow team. Three players of "first 5" (of starters) have healthy troubles. Coach Maciejewski said, that Katerina Zohnova surely won't play tomorrow (something wrong with her hand). But please don't worry, Nicky's health is all right and she will surely play.

Congratulations, Big Money... you've been censored! I'm so proud of you! (lol)

Hey, cash... Big Nick knew what was up. This is a business... and her fitness is part of what pays the rent.

I just hope that she chalks it up as a lesson learned. But now she's going to have to motivate her own self to work inbetween practices in Poland. She needs to hit the pool to walk or swim some laps in the morning and in the evening. She just has to keep hydrated and work herself into game shape.

Nicky is just too lethal when she's fit. She offers so many weapons to her team when she can get out and run the floor on fastbreaks and get into the passing lanes for steals on defense.

She's just going to have to tuck the hype and fanfare under her pillow and set about the business of delivering the goods.

And to be honest with you, cash, I've never ever seen Nicky when she wasn't in game shape. So, I can't imagine her out of breath... or dogging it on the court.

Man, Bezet has been a true blessing for us... keeping us informed, translating the Polish language and explaining the Polish system and customs.

Maybe God took pity on us this time around and sent us a little angel to help us navigate through this overseas venture with Nicky. (lol)

Oh, and the reason why I felt that something was wrong with Nicky only scoring 6 points in that scrimmage game is that I had read in one of the articles where the coach said that Nicky would be in the starting five. And getting only 6 points and starting for Nicky just didn't sound right.

Now, we know.

And don't even mention Super Bowl... Yes, we celebrate Super Bowl like we celebrate Independence Day. Everybody is out and about... signifying with their Pittsburgh Steelers gear on. Plus, we had a huge birthday party that caused our Super Bowl crowd to overflow into our bar across the street... which is normally closed on Sunday evenings. We needed just oooone more bar to catch the overflow from our second bar, too. (lol)

There was a $1,$$$.$$ Jackpot. But I have to admit that I was pulling for the Cardinals... Pittsburgh has got enough championships already.

Next up is St. Valentine's Day... then Sadie Hawkins Day... A bar will turn just about any day into a holiday or event just to draw folks out and make money. (lol) Obama's Stimulus Package Day... Clean Socks Day... Engagement Parties... Wedding Receptions... Divorce Celebrations... (lol)

Hey deeo', I just came from there and was suprised to see it. I thought it was a really good blog. I posted a day or two ago, but I must have had some word in my post that it wouldn't allow because it's not here. In my post, I said that in the practice game, I don't think that Nicky started, I believe that she came in off the bench. Read Bezet's post on the game again.

It's amazing how out of shape a person can get in a short amount of time. In just a month, Nicky is winded at practice. If it was me, I would be winded just walking out on the court. (lol) I think she will be ready to go by game day though!!!

Are you thawed out yet? Did you all have a Super Bowl shindig to prepare for at your place?

Cash... Big Money... I just about peed my pants when I saw Nicky's blog to the fans on the Lynx website! (lol)

Now, I must have really died and gone to heaven. Pinch me, girl, and see if I'm still living! (lol)

I'm looking out of my window, right now, to see if pigs are flying by. (lol)

Oh, my goodness... thank you, Roger!

Bezet... you are a great sports reporter!

I knew something was amiss with Nicky Anosike only scoring 6 points.

Nicky must have binged alittle when she heard Israel dropped her contract. But she has to get acclimatized to Poland and work her fanny off to get into playing shape and give those fans what they want... a championship.

Nicky is not stranger to hard work. So, don't worry, Bezet, she'll get it done.

The coach will see a difference in her fitness by the time she gets to the Feb. 7 game. She won't disappoint him.

Great reporting, Bezet.

Hey, Big Money... what are you thinking about this?

> Also Bezet, in the article “Mam charakter zwyciÄ™zcy!” when it mentioned the car that Nicky received, did it say
> that she would be recognized all over the city because her picture would be on the car?
> It might not have translated that right.

I have seen Nicky’s car (Peugeot silver colour). There’s no “wizerunek zawodniczki” (that means: photo/picture of the player) on that car. So I can say the article in the polish newspaper “Gazeta Lubuska” tells us not truth. The truth is that there is Nicky’s first and last name written four times on the car (on a bonnet, on a boot and on the doors). The logo of Gorzow club and name of sponsor of this car are also on Peugeot.

> But Big Money... it bothers me that Nicky started that scrimmage game against CCC and only scored 6 points.
> There's something with the style of play that she's not catching onto right now. I bet it was foul trouble.

A coach D. Maciejewski said (in an interview BEFORE a practice game with CCC), that he - soon before Nicky’s first training in Gorzow - gave her 10 the most important for him questions (coach didn’t said what the qustions were). A coach said that Nicky answered him sincerely that she “nie robiÅ‚a nic” (she did not anything?) during last weeks before coming in to Gorzow (she didn’t play basketball since her last game in Israel on the 24-th December). A coach also said that Nicky is a little bit too heavy and that during her first training in Gorzow she started lose breath, so coach had to stop her last part of training.

AFTER practice game with CCC Polkowice Maciejewski said that there were the moments when Nicky showed she has basketball skill. Maciejewski reapeted that Nicky is too heavy now and they had to work out over Nicky’s motor preparation strongly.

Cash, my Nicky's picture is on the Peugeot 406 that the team gave her so that everyone can easily recognize her about town. What a clever marketing idea.

I guess a little hit and run action is out of the question for Nicky now... "I didn't get the license plate number, officer, but the car had this rather large face on the side of it." (lol) (lol) (lol)

But Big Money... it bothers me that Nicky started that scrimmage game against CCC and only scored 6 points. There's something with the style of play that she's not catching onto right now. I bet it was foul trouble.

Nicky is going to have to figure out what constitutes a foul over there and adjust her game. She has to settle down, throw all of this hoopla and fanfare out of the window, dig in and focus... relax and let the game come to her... dictate and dominate.

And I can't believe that the Minnesota Lynx website still has Nicky playing in Israel for Elitzur Ramla... instead of with her new team in Poland.

Hey, Bezet, what's new in Poland?

Hey, Istevie and fulda rock... I agree... Vanessa Hayden-Johnson was allowed to be traded to the team of her choice. But Minnesota should have sweetened the pot with a second player to get Sidney Spencer.

L.A. can't seem to figure out how to use her. Sidney's a good rebounder... tough as nails. And her three-point shooting will help spread the defense and open up the lane for higher percentage shots.

It's still not too late to go fishing in L.A.'s pond. We're just going to have to use some LIVE bait this time.

Still... I don't like the idea of fishing a point guard out of the draft. There's too much to learn coming into the league without having to figure out how to steer a team on the floor. And with a team as quick as the Lynx are shaping up to be, this is one instance where the darn cart just might runover the horse.

Again... I'd like to see the Lynx snag A'Quonesia Franklin at the point. A'Q is a real cool customer. She's heady and a great floor general. Her three-point shooting will keep the defense honest and open up the lane so that Minnesota's plays can be alittle more effective. And A'Q is ready right now to lead the team.

But a whole other route that the Lynx could take would be to add a little "salt" to the team... for flavor.

The Lynx could latch onto a "salty dog" to run the point... like Vickie Johnson in San Antonio or Tamecka Dixon with whatever team picked her up during Houston's dispersal draft.

They've got a lot of miles on them but they're experienced, competent, fit and comfortable in the saddle. They would give the young Lynx team what it sorely needs... direction, consistency and a veteran's savvy.

Both Dixon and Johnson are great ballhandlers with nice mid-range jumpers, great board work, and enough quickness to penetrate to the basket.

At any rate, Noelle Quinn should not be the Lynx option to run the point this year. Hopefully, she and Navonda Moore have been working on their post moves in order to move over and play alittle small forward this season. Their quickness and ballhandling skills should make them more effective on the wing than on the point.

And for goodness sake... ENOUGH with Candice Wiggins and Charde Houston coming off of the bench!

Don Zierden needs to take time during one of his commercial breaks and look at some tapes to find out what made Candice Wiggins so effective in the Stanford offense... and implement some of that into the Lynx offensive sets.

Charde has been a scoring dynamo in Israel!

Maybe the Lynx could run sort of a three-guard-type offense with Seimone Augustus, Candice Wiggins and Charde Houston (they're all in that 5'11'-6'0" height range) -- with no point guard. Then have Nicky Anosike and LaToya Pringle play high and low posts... setting high and low screens for three very potent scorers.

Let me let that one marinate for a minute... (lol)

Oh, Bezet... they won't let me access the video at TVP Gorzow. But thanks for trying.

I do, however, like the translation of Nicky's interview. It answered a lot of questions and confirmed a lot of impressions/suspicions that I had when she was with Elitzur Ramla.

I just hope that Nicky knows that her stint in Israel was equally challenging for her fans here in America.

As you may well know by now, Bezet, we love Nicky Anosike! And we are very protective of her... and extremely defensive against any negativity directed toward her.

But as fans... we're on the outside looking in. Most of our perceptions and suspicions are based on statistics and foreign sports reports. It is always nice to hear how Nicky Anosike evaluated her time (on the court) in Israel... and to be able to validate or cancel out the conclusions we had arrived at.

Again, thank you, Bezet... and your daughter for translating this article for us.

Cash... Big Money... what do you think about Nicky's assessment of her time (on the court) in Israel?

I think adrress:

When the site (adrress above) will open, click on " TVP GORZÃ"W " and then, the video will start automaticly.

In Germany it works!

I have just got from my daughter translation of several fragments (parts) of an article: "Za trójkę nie rzuci, jest mocna pod koszem".
The first, second, third and last questions were translated by Katarzyna.

[ Title ]
She won’t score for three but is a strong center player

Rozmawiał Ireneusz Klimczak
2009-02-06, ostatnia aktualizacja 2009-02-06 11:06

During sparing in Polkowice she upset the coach, as he saw her lack of training.- It’s going to get better for sure – assures him the new girl from KSSSE AZS PWSZ. – I can help you a lot at places on the court where you needed support.

Ireneusz Klimczak: The first days in your new team were so so. Coach Dariusz Maciejewski was not happy about the sparing against Polkowice.

Nicki Anosike: After the games in my former club I took some time off. I have also suffered a bit after a 15 hour trip to Poland and a jet lag. Here everything is new for me, I have to recover a bit, get to know people and the rules here, accustom myself. I think that I will show what I’m capable of in the big games. That’s why I came here. In the past, I have always been playing for good teams, and setting high targets.

In fall you played in Israel. Why have you decided to leave in the middle of the season?

- Not everything there suited me, especially on court. I was responsible for too many things, sometimes the opponents were playing two or three players against me. It was difficult for me to make a progress in such a game. I want to be responsible for the score but without such an enormous pressure being put on just one person. I know what I’m good at and this I will show for sure.

Have you known anything about Poland before coming here? Has someone told you about the Polish League?

- I was talking to my agent and I heard that the competition in Poland is very strong, that WNBA stars are playing there, and the team, which wanted me plays for the top targets. What’s more important, they need someone to play in the center, and here I think I can help KSSSE AZS PWSZ the most.

We are happy to have you here and we can’t wait to see your debut in the League. We hope you will score a lot and give us many rebounds.

- I’m happy that you count on my rebounds, as it is my specialty. If, for example, coach wanted me to score for three I wouldn’t be happy. You can count on me under the backboard though. There, I will give my best.

Not to worry, cash, your birthday cake for Nicky Anosike would slip right through Polish customs... They'd be too busy pulling the fried chicken and barbequed ribs out of MY pocketbook... and the bootleg Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wayne and T-Pain CDs and sound system out of my carry-on bag. (lol)

Party over here... Party over there...

Zatańczymy (you wanna dance), Mr. Officer? (lol)

When I hit the dance flo' -- do the stanky leg -- do the stanky leg... B___, I'm wired up -- do the stanky leg -- do the stanky leg... Doopity-doo -- doopity-doo (lol) (lol) (lol)

I know... I know... the lyrics are awful, but "The Stanky Leg" is the latest dance craze around these parts. (lol) And to think... calling somebody "stanky" was fighting words back in my day... (lol) (lol) (lol)

I just can't wait for Nicky's party. It's gonna be off the chain... SOLDOUT!... poppin'-off like Skittles, ba-by!

Nicky might have to bail us out of the Polish jail... but her party would be slamming, Big Money! (lol) Just remind me to put a little bail money in my sock... just in case. (lol)

Ooooo... about that 10 pounds that Nicky dropped in 10 days... that was a lot, but I bet it was water-weight (breast, arms and buttocks, I reckon). As long as she hydrates and eats enough to burn-off... she'll be fine.

But equally important... Nicky has to make sure that she rests properly... to allow her body to recuperate from the impact of all of this concentrated training and conditioning. It's like bootcamp. She needs to linger in her warm baths or showers alittle longer... and gently massage her knees, shoulders, hips, ankles and elbows nightly... to help move the waste out of her joints... to minimize stiffness and soreness.

I'm soooo glad she had an opportunity to rest during the Christmas break. Her body really needed it. But she has to make sure that her rigorous training to get back in game-shape... and her efforts to maintain her quick weightloss... doesn't adversely effect her focus, strength, performance and production on the court.

Nicky has a huge target on her back right now... and she should embrace and relish the challenges she will face on the court... and seize every opportunity to dictate and dominate... impact and attack... whatever it takes... to bring a Cup and the championship to Gorzow Wlkp.

They sound like great fans. And they deserve it.

Cash... I believe it was Andrew Carnegie who once said that all "success" is is "preparation" meeting "opportunity."

Nicky is definitely prepared. And this week, her team has the opportunity to win the Poland Cup. I think that success is on their horizon with Nicky on the court.

By the way, cash, did you see the game photos of Nicky on the team website?

And Bezet, how big is the Poland Cup tournament Feb. 12-14, 2009?

Why isn't there a LIVE transmission of this tournament?

Hey, Big Money... Nicky's game is at 6 a.m. ET Thursday. Are you ready for this?

4.5 kg is about 9.9 lbs. To me, that's a pretty good bit. I wonder if they have her with a nutritionist or if they've just worked her to death? Or she may not can find anything in English in the grocery store. (lol) Hot pockets may be hard to come by in Poland!!! (lol)

And I guess you read my post that I couldn't view the video either. What a shame. And you are welcome for the help with the translator. It's been a lifesaver this winter trying to follow women's basketball.

And thanks to Bezet and her help with the letters on the stats, did you notice that they even keep track of how many times each player is fouled? And not only how many shots a player blocked but how many of that players shots were blocked also. That is really cool. I don't think I've ever seen those before. Those are good stats to know too.

Feb 27.....Are we gonna grab our pocketbooks and give Nicky a surprise birthday party over there? :^O Would my cake make it through customs you reckon??:|

I was denied access to the video on your Sports Weekend link. It would not download the video to allow me to view it. What do you suggest?

Cash, did you have the same problem?

Oh, and you webpage translator is thunder, Big Money. That's how I was able to read that access to Bezet's video was forbidden. Thanks again, cash... I'm translating all kinds of stuff now. (lol)

Bezet... what can we do to access the TV video? And how can cash view the play-by-play from Saturday's game? And what did Nicky say about playing in Israel in the article you linked us to before the game?

I know that it's around midnight in Poland right now, Bezet... but we will wait anxiously to hear from you tomorrow.

****** updated ******

Hey, cash... we must have been posting at the same time... cha cha cha... (lol)

Coach Dariusz said in the article on plkk.pl that Nicky lost 4.5 kg during the week prior to the game. Is that a lot, you think?

You are up late Bezet. Thank you for the all of the information, it's good to know what all of the letters mean when we look at her stats. I tried to look at the video you gave us but I can't view it, probably because I am in the U S. I was in that website last week trying to figure out if we could watch the game on Saturday and it would not let me see a video then either.

Do you know if their next game will have the live scoreboard?

I asked my daughter Katarzyna - living in Germany (Munchen) - to translate to English an article "Za trójkę nie rzuci, jest mocna pod koszem". She promissed to do it tomorrow.

Here is the link to TV-magazine "Sport weekend" (05 Feb. 2009), where you can see and hear Nicky:
1) between 4:40 and 6:12
2) at the end of recording (11:42).

Edit:
I'm so sorry. I've forgotten about link.
Here it is:

ww6.tvp.pl/6479.dzialy

Then site: TVP GORZÃ"W
then look for "Serwisy specjalne" (on the right side of this site)
then look for: "Sport weekend VIDEO 05 II 2009"
and - finally - push "play" to enjoy Your Nicky.

Man deeo', I missed her game, wasn't around the computer that day! Is there anywhere to go to see a play by play now? I couldn't find anything but the stats.....

Did you see the last article that Bezet posted for us? She will not throw for the three.....my translator did not translate some of the words for me, so I couldn't understand her reply to the question they asked about her playing in Israel, hence me asking Bezet to translate for me.

(and deeo', the way to translate an ENTIRE website is to copy and paste the entire web address at the top of the website onto the "Translate a web page" line on the google translator--given below--and choose your language)
www.google.ca/language_tools?hl=en

Here is the plkk.pl website translated--http://translate.google.ca/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.plkk.pl%2F&sl=pl&tl=en&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

If you need more help, just let me know.

Thanks for filling me in on the game. It sounded like the other team adjusted their game plan at half time to take care of Nicky. They didn't clamp her down completely though. She is just going to get better the more comfortable she gets with her team and their system. I thought she did an excellent job for her first game.

Hey cash, The games of PLKK 2008/2009 won't finish on 14 March 2009.
Now there is a regular season PLKK. It finishes on 14 March 2009. Then first eight teams (teams 1-8 after regular season) begin first round of play-off games [1. team play against 8. team, 2. play against 7., 3. against 6., 4. against 5.; ( they play until 3 wins) ]. Then teams 1-4 begin second round of play-off games (they play until 3 wins). At the end, winers of second round play-off games play in a third round (they play until 4 wins). The team which wins at third round of play-offs is Poland Champion. The third round play-off games will finish in a second half of April.

Hey, deeo'. I've been checking in with Ramla too and noticed that they haven't been doing well. I read an article today where they have replaced their point guard again.

And you are right about Nicky's production in the second half, I hadn't thought about it until now. In the 1/4 game against Leszno, she had 11 free throws in the first half, none in the second half. Same thing in the next game too. All of the free throws in the first half. And she didn't try many 2 pt fg in the second half. It looks like they have only 6 more games left, they will finish up on March 14. She can have another small rest, then CAMP. I can't wait until the WNBA begins!

Happy Valentine's, cash and Bezet!

Great weekend... even with Friday the 13th being thrown in there!

Big Money... I saw where Elitzur Ramla got eliminated from the FIBA EuroCup playoffs on Feb. 4th by Athinaikos BC, 91-72. And their team is really struggling in the Israeli league without their American players. I hope that they get a major sponsor to replace the one that they lost. I don't know why, but I still feel connected to them.

And did you see the photos from the Poland Cup? Nicky looks paper-thin to me... around the ankles and arms.

Her production goes down in the second half. I'm wondering if she's eating enough to burn-off... especially late in the game. She may need to eat a banana and an energy bar during halftime to fuel-up for the second half... and hydrate.

Yikes! Any team that has Candice Dupree and Chamique Holdsclaw coming off of the bench has got to be awesome. And it was!

Nicky Anosike (18 points and 8 rebounds) and her KSSSE teammates fought valiantly, but Wisla Can Pack just had too much fire-power.

The first two points of the game came off of Nicky's 15-foot jumper. But Nicky's jumper just wasn't dropping enough to hold off Wisla.

It was unfortunate that Edyta Korynza was whistled for four fouls in the first half. But Anna Breitreiner had a real solid game.

Wisla was just too big and too deep.

With that said, cash...

You know that Nicky is fired-up to play Wisla again. Her team got scalped... and she don't like that one bit! Heck... she would have played them all over again that night if she could have it her way. (lol)

The next time these two teams meet-up, Wisla had better bring its lunch... because it just might be on the court for awhile. (lol)

By then, Nicky will have learned enough Polish to pump her teammates up and get them stoked.

One good thing that came out of this loss was that Nicky got real aggressive in the fourth quarter. I like that. Good things happen when she channels her aggression.

Good Morning, ladies.

That was a good game, you guys. Who do they play next?

Again, KSSSE AZS kept pounding the ball into the lane... very few outside jumpers.

And Nicky was taking it to the rim... 11 freethrows tell the story.

That's where she's supposed to be... in that lane... drawing the contact... shooting a high percentage shot and going to the freethrow line. That's my Nicky!

And she had excellent focus at the freethrow line to knock down 11-11!

From what I could tell, Nicky only shot about 4 jumpers and hit 2 of them. All the rest of her shots were going strong to the rim... where she was 3-3... and drawing the contact and going to the line.

Again, Nicky did all of her damage in the first half... 17 points and 3 boards... even though she was being double- and triple-teamed.

The double- and triple-downs on Nicky were evident by the first 3 quick turnovers she had at the beginning of the first quarter. The ball was stripped from Nicky by three different players... making it obvious that she was being teamed-up on.

Seven turnovers for Nicky is more than she does in 6 or 7 games.

What Nicky has got to do is recognize the double-team coming in on her... and pass the ball in the direction from which the double-teamer is coming from. The double-teamer's man should be wide open.

Or Nicky can even fake the pass out to the open man to make the double-teamer hesitate coming in.

And while I'd like to see more rebounds out of Nicky... her team is an excellent rebounding team. Everyone hits the bounds. Outstanding!

Now, Nicky needs to eat, hydrate and rest in preparation for the semi-finals tomorrow.

Oh... and did you guys see where CCC got knocked out of the tournament? Plenette Pierson was injured and didn't play. She should be back in their lineup in a week.

Gotta run now. We had a windstorm yesterday that blew part of the roof off of our restaurant... which missed my car but knocked down the cable TV wires for our bar across the street... which happens to be reserved for a basketball-game-viewing party tonight... a game which is shown -- of course -- only on cable TV.

Now, if you guys hear a loud thump... it's probably me... either falling off of the roof or the cable TV pole. (lol) (lol) (lol)

********** update **********

Hey, cash... Nicky has to play Wilsa Can Pack (the #1 team) in the semi-finals tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET.

Our Nicky is going to need us tomorrow. So, get your rest, cash. We've got another early day tomorrow.

cash, on PLKK site there is an access to the other kind of live transmition. Under "Transmisje live" click on "Zobacz wszystkie mecze live w jednym oknie!" and then wait few seconds until applet loading. There are available statistics: f, fa, b, bo. Nicky was fauled 6 times so far.

Edit:
There is also throws topography there.

cash, you’ve asked “is it live?”.
Yes, there will be on-line scoreboard on www.plkk.pl. I can find it out now, when I look at “Transmisje live”. Under it, there is written at the moment: “Do najbliższego meczu
zostaÅ‚o: 01 dzieÅ„ 01 g. 01 min” (it works like a countdown). That means: “there is left one day, one hour, 01 minutes to the next game”. When I look at “NastÄ™pne mecze”, I can see that the next game is PKM Duda Super Pol (Leszno) – KSSSE AZS PWSZ (Gorzow) in Eventim Cup on Thursday at 12:00 AM Polish time.

There’s no doubt. All games PLKK (Ekstraklasa koszykówki kobiet) are transmitted as on-line scoreboard and also – parallel - are transmitted as on-line play-by-play of the game.

But, notice. After ending the game you can see theese “on-lines” only next 20-40 (sometimes 60) minutes, then “on-lines” disappear. There is NO ACCESS (not only for you, but also for all fans in Poland) to the play-by-play for past games. We all (fans) have access to stats of past games (PLKK and Eventim Cup) only.

[ Edit ]:
1) ___ It seems it will be very interesting game tomorrow. Yesterday there was a very sensational score in “Ekstraklasa” in Leszno city: Leszno team beat Kraków team 86:80 (in Krakow team played: Chamique Holdsclaw, Dominique Canty, Jelena Skerovic, Marta Fernandez, Candice Dupree). Yesterday score in Leszno makes that a score of tomorrow game Gorzow team against Leszno team is unpredictable.

2) ___ On PLKK you (we) can't see the whole play-by-play (from beginning to the end of the game). We can see only 5-10 last actions (last plays?). But on FIBA EUROPE site we can see a whole play-by-play all games (including past games). Don't ask me why on PLKK it;s impossible, becasue I don't know.

Dziękuję, (thank you) Bezet (and to your daughter) for the translation of that article. I thought that was what her reply was but some of the words didn't translate and I wanted to be sure, so again, thank you.

Cash... Big Money... what do you think about Nicky's assessment of her time (on the court) in Israel? I knew they were depending on the foreigners to score a lot of points, so you know that had to be a lot of pressure on her to perform. So now, what do you make of the story about financial trouble of the team? Probably true.........

By the way, cash, did you see the game photos of Nicky on the team website? Yes, I did. And did you see the ones where some of the team went to the school to speak. There are more of Nicky on the PLKK website. And speaking of photos, you said you wanted copies of the Holiday Hoopla photos (the Lynx with the Santa caps on). Look in the Lynx website, Facebook, and it is under Photos-10 albums. Just view all 10, click on Candice with the Santa cap and they all will come up.

Nicky's game is at 6 a.m. ET Thursday. Are you ready for this? I will have to set my alarm, you DID say 6 A.M. It will be 5:00 here. Is it live?

BEZET! Thank you... thank you... Dziękuję!

BZ... you have been biz-zy! (lol)

The photo links are fabulous! I'm not going to be able to get anything done today. I'll be too busy browsing for Nicky's photos.

Thanks, Bezet!

But TVP Gorzów still doesn't allow me to download the video to watch it.

A blank (black) video screen appears when I click the small square with the triangle in it.

When I press the "play" button, the "download video" button appears in the upper righthand corner atop the video screen.

When I press the "download video" button, it indicates that the download will not be permitted.

But I'm so happy you shared the other links with us... it doesn't matter that our access is blocked to the video at TVP Gorzów.

I'm just so excited!

I've dropped everything and cleared my schedule for the next couple of hours. I have my big glass of sweet tea... and it's on, baby!

If anyone wants to reach me, I'll be in Poland for the rest of the day. (lol)

Do widzenia, do zobaczenia (bye, see you later). Przyjemnego dnia (have a great day), Bezet!

Thank you deeo’ for your advices. I follow them (I used hyphens ( “-“ ) inside “dangerous” words).

> Oh, Bezet... they won't let me access the video at
> TVP Gorzow. But thanks for trying.

deeo, the matter above doesn’t allow me to sleep for several days. I do don’t like unsolved problems. Well, I don’t think someone is watching what you do in Web.
So, let’s try again. Please open the site TVP Gorzów: ww6.tvp.pl/6479.dzialy
Then look for: “SERWISY SPECJALNE” (white letters – on the right side of the site).
Then look for:
“Lubuskie Informacje Sportowe 22 II 2009”

And now, VERY IMPORTANT.
DON'T CLICK on “Lubuskie Informacje Sportowe”.
Click on the litle square shape (with a triangle inside) next to „22 II 2009”.
After a few seconds record should start. At the beginning of it you can hear and see some information concering last game AZS Gorzów-Duda Leszno (on 21-II-2009).
Please, let me know how do you manage the access to recording above.

Here, there are links to the p-h-o-t-o-s of last game (21-02-2009, with Leszno):

As I can see, the result is O.K.
Good job, deeo'! Well done.

deeo', cash, I'm not sure you have seen on PLKK site (2009-02-22): "Rafał Sroka: Polsko-angielski słownik koszykówki" (Polish-English dctionary of basketball). Mr Rafał Sroka is the basketball coach.

Good morning, Bezet.

The problem that you are having posting photos is because of the WNBA censor. It tries to discourage photos because their files are so large.

So, what this website does is prevent you from using words like... i-m-a-g-e... or... b-a-c-k-g-r-o-u-n-d. So, if either of these words are in your link, this website would censor it and treat it as though it were profanity.

But there are ways to get around this censor.

Now, you may be able to delete the part of your link that says i-m-a-g-e (or whatever the censored word is) and give us directions the rest of the way to reach the webpage.

Or you may just put hyphens inbetween each letter of the word (as I have done here) so that we can type the link directly into our browser windows.

I know it's a hassle... but I sure would like to see those photos, Bezet.

I'm no computer expert. But maybe cash will log-on and offer some suggestions.

Big Money, where are you? (lol)

Have you been able to attend any of Nicky's games?

I'm trying to post some links to photos of the last game, but I can't do it because of the red message I can see:

I don't know, what's the reason of this situation.

Evening deeo', I didn't get to follow the game today, but as soon as I got to a computer I pulled up the boxscore to see how they did, then I went into the play by play and broke Nicky's game down. She was a little slow to get started, but once she got warmed up, she was awesome. I finally figured out what the words meant, but I sure didn't catch the part where she dove after a ball. How did you get all of the information, (ie. score, player, and time) since play by play is no longer there? I tried gorzow24.pl and couldn't find it there either.

It was a good win for them today, especially since the coach didn't know if they could pull it off with a couple of their players injured.

Did you look on the Lynx website and see the poll on who you would like to see the Lynx draft at #4? What are your thoughts on this? I like all 4, but what do you think is their greatest need? My thoughts are a big at #4. Or possibly a really good p g.

Oh, my... what an exciting game! A nail-biter... with Nicky Anosike and KSSSE AZS PWSZ sneaking pass Duda Leszno, 67-63.

Cash... Big Money... Bezet... did you see Big Nick just dictate and dominate in the lane today for 14 rebounds, 17 points, 2 blocks and a steal?

Now... that's Nicky bringing her complete game... for four full quarters.

With 6 points and 7 boards at the half, look how Nicky just locked, loaded and exploded to dominate the third quarter. Here's Gorzow24's play-by-play for the third quarter (score - play - time):

[The end of the second quarter. KSSSE AZS PWSZ trails Duda Super Pol Leszna 35:38
For the most points won Duda Super Pol Leszna: Shields, Koc and Krysiewicz - 8
For the most points won KSSSE AZS PWSZ: Breitreiner 9 and Anosike 6]

We start the game after the break!
37:38 Koryzna 9.40
Anosike 1os 8.38
38:40 Czarnecka 8.20
40:40 Kaczmarczyk 2 1 OS 7.19
41:42 Koc 6.29
Richards 1os 5.32
Czubak three !!!!!!! 4.51
45:44 Krysiewicz 4.35
Anosike dive after a ball into advertising
47:44 Anosike 3.20
Time for a trainer Krysiewicz
49:44 Anosike 2.20
49:46 NAWROTEK 2.00
51:46 Anosike 1.42
53:46 Richards 0.50
Krężel 0.30 for the three
55:49 Anosike 0.13
57:49 Breitreiner equally siren!

Big Money, did you see where Nicky dove into the advertising for the ball?

Nicky came to play, baby. She came to WIN!

Anna Breitreiner had an excellent game, too! She scored the clutch freethrows to ice the game.

Did you get to follow the game, cash?

Hey, cash... remember what Lior Klinger said about each country having both a Cup and a league championship?

I'm excited that Nicky gets another chance to bring a crown to the fans in Gorzow Wlkp.

Bezet, keep the faith. My Nicky is hitting her stride.

Once she gets her energy level up where she needs it to be... it's going to get real exciting in Poland.

And Big Money, you're right about the freethrows going down in the second half for Nicky. She's settling for jumpers instead of sealing-off her defender in the lane and drawing the contact going to the rim.

But I got to see alittle of Nicky playing on the court in that yearlong video interview on the KSSSE website. They showed the game in the b-a-c-k-g-r-o-u-n-d of one interview and some whole excerpts inbetween interviews.

The footage showed Samantha Richards hitting Nicky in the open court, but she's missing the opportunity to get Nicky the ball when Nicky has sealed her defender off at the rim.

The point guard has got to get the ball to Nicky where and when she can do the most damage.

What I saw was Nicky sealing her defender off on her backside -- with no one between her and the rim -- and the ballhandler failing to feed the ball to her. Then Nicky had to release from her position and go to the high post at the freethrow line to get the pass.

Their point guards have got to learn how to feed the low post.

Katarzyna Czubak seems to do a decent job getting inside to Nicky. But Samantha Richards' game has really changed from what I remember... more turnovers than assists... and her shots are not dropping. She needs to slow down and get a better handle on the ball... and square-up to the basket when she shoots.

But other than that, Gorzow Wlkp. has a really solid team. Anna Breitreiner and Edyta Koryzna are real warriors. I really like Justyna Żurowska, too. I wonder when she'll be back in the lineup.

And as for Elitzur Ramla, cash... I guess we'll always be emotionally linked to our Israeli compadres... thanks to mj23, Lior and others.

Hey, Bezet, we must have been posting at the same time.

Do you guys have an All-Star game in Poland or is the All-Star game in Paris, France, the only one for overseas players?

Every season in "Polish women basketball" exist (there are) two kinds of tournaments:
1) ___ first kind , it's an "Ekstraklasa",
2) ___ second kind, it's a "Poland Cup".
Notice, "Ekstraklasa" and "Poland Cup" are independent tournaments.

Ekstraklasa beginns September/October and it consists of:
a) regular season (2 rounds),
b) play-off (it concerns teams 1-8 after regular season),
c) play-out (it concerns teams 9-13 after regular season).

Poland Cup games are usually played during Ekstraklasa regular season. This year (this season) Poland Cup is called (named) "Eventim Cup" (because of the name of the sponsor firm). The games were being from 03 December 2008 to 14 February 2009 (final: Wisła - Lotos 72:61).

In a common opinion coaches, players and fans, Poland Cup (Eventim Cup) is a less important tournament than Ekstraklasa.
Ekstraklasa (also called "FGE") is more important than Eventim Cup.
To be a Poland Champion (to win final Ekstraklasa game), that means to get gold medal and it is much more appreciated in Poland than to reach (to be an owner) Poland Cup.
The team which wins Poland Championship gets the right (gets posibility) to play in Euroleague FIBA EUROPE. Sometimes the second team (I mean a team-loser of Final Game Poland Championship) can (may) also start in Euroleague games.

So, that is what Gorzow team fights for during this "Ekstraklasa" season. They want to be at least the second team in Poland.

Bezet... now, let me see if I've got this straight.

KSSSE AZS PWSZ is 16-3.

KSSSE AZS PWSZ has already defeated Wisła Can Pack twice.

So, why is Wisła Can Pack ranked #1 ahead of KSSSE AZS PWSZ?

KSSSE AZS PWSZ's three losses came to Energa Toruń (74-70), Lotos PKO BP (72-61) and CCC (65-63).

Lotos is 18-2 with one loss to KSSSE AZS PWSZ (83-76).

CCC and Wisła Can Pack are 16-4. How are they ranked higher than KSSSE AZS PWSZ?

I don't get it.

It doesn't seem fair.

Now Gorzów is in fourth place because our team has less Points (35) then Wisła (36), CCC (36) and Lotos (36). What is going on when two or more teams have the same number of Points? In such a case ............. oh no, it"s too complicated for me (to me?) to explain it in English.
The most important thing for Gorzów team is do their best to win upcoming 5 games and to take a good place at the end of regular season.. Specially, to win with INEA AZS Poznań and CCC Polkowice. The last game of regular season we will play against CCC. They are our everlasting enemy. So, on Saturday, the 14-th March it should be expected we'll see the blood on the court in Gorzów.

Standing chart (Tabela PLKK / pełna tabela ), explanation.

PKT (Punkty) ____ Points
mecze ____ games (played so far)

Yes, I do. However because I am short in my English, I don't discuss about games and players.

Yes, they are. I think there is a quite good mood at Gorzow basketball arena. There is a lot of noise, lately.

Hey, cash... Bezet, I'm sorry I didn't get to check-in with you yesterday. I had a pretty rough day... Be sure to pray for me.

Thanks for the link, Bezet. All of the links were great!

But please explain to me why Gorzów is in third place. I do not understand the ranking system.

What do all of those numbers mean on the team standings chart?

What is Gorzów's record... how many wins and losses this season?

Down there is a link to the v-i-d-e-o on web portal "gorzow24".
It's almost as a whole about Gorzów-Leszno game (21-02-2009). You can see Nicky (playing) and the other players of Gorzow team and Leszno team (coches D.Maciejewski from Gorzow and J.Krysiewicz from Leszno are too).

Title: Magazyn koszykarski „A-Zet-eS”

I hope v-i-d-e-o will start without problems.

deeo', I'm sorry that I'm interrupting you your wonderful journey to Poland, but I've just found something interesting.
Here's the link to Forum TVP (subject: "Wymagania techniczne")
forum.tvp.pl/index.php?topic=22277.0
There are a lot of angry (bad) words about what TVP, Microsoft and Mr Gates are doing, but I don't know if viewers (fans) have the right (reason) to write it.

I'm not good at computers, but if I can understand, to use recording TVP - it needs:

1) operating system Windows XP (or Vista)
AND "Windows Media Player" v.10 (or higher?/upper?)

______ or __

2) operating system Linux
AND "Mplayer"

On my computer I have Windows XP, Windows Media Player and I use web-viewers: Opera or/and Mozilla Firefox.

Edited:
Almost everything about MPlayer you can find here (in English):

No, I haven't met "5 jest najlepsza" (I don't know her at all).

Tomorrow our team will play with PTK Pabianice. The whole staff and the players left Gorzów today by club-bus and they are in Pabianice now.

I've just heard an interview with coach D. Maciejewski on portal Gorzow24. He said we have a lot of healthy problems in our team.
Katerina Zohnova probably won't play to end of playoffs (her left hand is broken).
Lindsay Taylor has a pain in her back and surely won't play at least next 1-2 weeks. But it is an optimistic version. In pessimistic - Lindsay won't play at all this season and will come back to the USA.
Justyna Żurowska, Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk, Aleksandra Pietraszek and Anne Breitreiner also had some healthy problems lately.

We should belive and we belive they manage to win against Pabianice, but situation is really difficult.

Oh, my goodness, 5 jest najlepsza :).

In my thank-you-note to my new Polish basketball friends... I managed to paint Nicky Anosike as a rocket scientist and a nun... and my friend cash as a "Nicky Anosike ventilator." (lol)

Just thank goodness that I'm not a translator for the United Nations. (lol) (lol) (lol)

And Big Money, that is so funny about Nicky's braids being translated as staples.

Bezet, where have you been? I've missed you. Have you met, 5 jest najlepsza :)?

Polish is such a complex language. There are so many words that do not translate into English. English must seem like child's play to you guys, 5 jest najlepsza :).

I definitely agree with cash. What I like about Nicky playing in Poland is that we can kinda figure stuff out.

When Nicky was in Israel, the Hebrew language was extremely hard to translate or navigate through. I was SO thankful for the Safsal Israeli basketball website... because it had an "English" button to translate for us.

Thank goodness we have Bezet and 5 jest najlepsza :) to help us with our translations.

And 5 jest najlepsza :), you do not have to thank me for my assessment of Anna Breitreiner. I had never heard of her until I noticed her stats in Nicky's games with KSSSE AZS PWSZ. She's active on both ends of the court. Anna has definitely earned all the praises she gets.

And the way you describe Anna's work ethic... she reminds me of Nicky Anosike.

Nicky works hard at everything she does.

For example... Nicky received a full scholarship to play basketball at the University of Tennessee... where she won back-to-back NCAA Championships (in 2007 and 2008).

Nicky didn't just loaf around and play basketball at Tennessee. She used her scholarship to earn THREE academic degrees. That's what we call a triple scholar.

She's just a hard worker who takes advantage of every opportunity that comes her way. And then... she still finds time to help others through various charities and mentoring programs.

That's why it's so easy to be her fan. Nicky just gives us so much to cheer about. That's "our" Nicky! And we love her!

Hey cash!
If an article says (concerns) about women basketball, the word "koszykarki" means basketball players, but only WOMEN (when we talk about MEN playing basketball, we should say in Polish "koszykarze").

Polish language uses different endings of nouns.
To show you a difficulty of Polish, there are all possible endings of the words.

IN SINGULAR: ___ 1) KOSZYKARKA (one woman or girl)
(a woman or a girl playing basketball)
2) ___ koszykarki
3) ___ koszykarce
4) ___ koszykarkÄ™
5) ___ koszykarkÄ...
6) ___ o koszykarce
7) ___ koszykarko

And now IN PLURAL: ___ 1) KOSZYKARKI (two or more women or girls)
(women or girls playing basketball)
2) ___ koszykarek
3) ___ koszykarkom
4) ___ koszykarki
5) ___ koszykarkami
6) ___ o koszykarkach
7) ___ koszykarki

5 jest najlepsza, the auto translator gives us some funny translations but it helps to understand SOME of what is being written. For example, in one article, it was describing Nicky's hair and it said that she was distinguished by her hair, that it was stapled. :^O And some words, it doesn't even bother translating (Koszykarki)--what is that? It calls free throws, free kicks, and a basket (the goal), trash. In another article, it called basketball players, housekeepers. Just funny stuff.

Thanks for the nice words about Anne Breitreiner. I was taken by her from her very first game in Gdynia, she's young and looks quite placid and sweet, not at all threatening, but she's incredibly athletic. And her shots are just lethal for opponents, she's capable of drilling one three-pointer after another. But what's best about her is that she works so hard and is always making every effort to improve. She often spends extra hours practicing her shooting long after her team-mates have ended their training sessions. Sometimes she even stays on court during half-time of a match and practices her three-pointers then, when the rest of the team are resting!

Don't worry about the translations, nobody minds what you said, it's just funny :) I won't quote it all because some doesn't make sense, but if you like I'll quote the funniest bits (what they would mean if they were translated literally back into English):
"genius scientist, humanitarian and inspiration for everyone, who are her Road of the Cross" (better be careful not to offend any Pole's religious feelings there, LOL)
"I'd also like to lead on to another Nicky Anosike ventilator in America"
So yeah, better avoid Google translations :)

5 jest najlepsza :), thanks for the head's up.

But you don't get off of the hook that easily, 5 jest najlepsza :). (lol)

Now, you have to tell me what I said. I hope I didn't insult anyone. Am I going to need alittle diplomatic immunity? (lol) (lol) (lol)

No more Google-translating for me, my friend.

And by the way, I like Anna Breitreiner, too. She's a real hard worker... a real scrapper. She's offensive-minded... and does a good job on the boards. I've mentioned her a couple of times on this blog.

All I can say, 5 jest najlepsza :), is that Nicky goes straight for the gold... and Anna and Edyta Korynza are going to be two great players to have on her side.

Deeo'rumpshaker, my screen-name means "5 is the best". The origin of this screen-name comes from the fact that I'm a fan of Lotos Gdynia and last year my favourite player in the team was Anne Breitreiner (now Nicky's team-mate), who had that number.
The screen-name was also meant to poke fun at another Lotos fan who has the screen-name "14 jest najlepsza" on Fan Voice because he is a devoted fan of Tan White, number 14 in Lotos during the 2006/7 season.
By the way, I'm afraid that what you wrote using the auto-translator sounds absolutely hilarious in Polish - it sure gives us a good laugh, but doesn't make much sense ;) So I suggest that if you write on the Gorzów forum again, don't bother to translate into Polish (unless you want to give us more amusement, which is quite welcome as far as we are concerned). Most people understand English here, and anyway somebody should be able to translate your comments soon after you write. On the Lotos forum there are several people who write only in English and we all understand them fine :)

Welcome, 5 jest najlepsza :), and let me echo what cash said in her post regarding the gratitude we have for your visit here and your assistance.

Thank you for the wonderful translation of the beautiful words that were written by Visitor-1147 on the Gorzów fans' forum.

Our computer translate tools only gives us an idea of what is being said in Polish. Your translation revealed to me the warmth and beauty of the words that were written.

Thank you very much, 5 jest najlepsza :). And also many thanks to Aniuh for giving a better translation of my message for the Gorzów fans on the forum.

Now that I understand clearly what was written, I will have confidence to respond to the great Gorzów fans there.

We are so excited to be able to meet so many new friends. And we will always be grateful to Bezet in Poland for guiding us through this great experience.

But I have just followed the KSSSE AZS PWSZ game today... and I am sad that we lost.

But more importantly, Cukierki Odra played an unbelievable game... 50% from 3-point-land (15-30) and 65% from 2-point range. WOW!

And even though they had 24 turnovers, it really didn't matter. They were shooting the lights out!

I pray that Nicky's Birthday yesterday was great... for she was well-contained by the defense today. Although Nicky was aggressive on defense with 3 steals and 6 boards, Cukierki Odra was just too much for her team today.

But if I know Nicky, the next team she plays against had better watch out! (lol)

Edyta Koryzna had an excellent game... and kept KSSSE AZS PWSZ in the game. And Samantha Richards is looking real sharp at the point.

Our team had 17 steals and only 8 turnovers... but the 6% shooting from the 3-point line (1-18) sealed our fate.

We're just a great team who had a bad day, my friends.

But we'll be ready for Wednesday night. PTK Aflofarm Vicard Pabianice... we're coming for you!

And 5 jest najlepsza :)... what is your screen-name in English? I am so curious... and nosy. (lol)

Thank you for the translation 5 jest najlepsza. I got some of the meaning from guest 1147's post but some of it doesn't translate well into English, so thank YOU. But I couldn't translate Dawcio's post on the forum.

And yes, deeo' and I think Nicky is a great person, a hard worker on the court, and a great role model for others. Just look back at some of our posts and we have links to different things about Nicky if you would like to know more about her.

I have to tell you though that Bezet from Gorzow helped us follow Nicky to Poland by giving us links to websites and explaining Polish league basketball and we thank Bezet for that.

If you need any help, let us know.

Hi Nicky Fans,
I wanted to say that the fans in Gorzów really appreciated your devotion to Nicky which you showed writing on their forum yesterday! I can quote translations of some of their replies to the thread deeo'rumpshaker started there:
"I'm impressed. Really impressed. A fan of Minnesota Lynx remembered Nicky's birthday and made the effort to find our Gorzow sub-forum. This is certainly huge support - from the heart - for Nicky. We should take that example and derive conclusion for the future, what faithful fans of a team and their players should be like. "Our" Nicky ("our" meaning of Minnesota Lynx and AZS Gorzów) must have something in her that makes fans remember her. I think Nicky has that something. Nicky, Happy Birthday to you!"
"Well done. That's a real fan. We should follow that example, it's worth it."
So you see, that gesture was really appreciated. We hope that you'll visit our forum again soon :)

Deeo', thank you for words of support. You know ...., when your team instead to win with 20 or more points, is losing with 24 points - some silly thoughts are coming.

You have the right. We must win and we'll win tonight! And we'll win at least two of three last games of regular season.

Bezet, I just won't accept all of those injury reports as a reason to lose against PTK Pabianice!

Nicky Anosike, Edyta Korynza and Samantha Richards are going to have to pick up the slack and get the job done.

Coach Dariusz is going to have to go to a 3-2 matchup zone instead of the 1-3-1 zone (or man-to-man) I saw on one of the videos.

The 1-3-1 zone (or man-to-man) pulls his rebounders out of rebounding position to cover the wings.

The 3-2 matchup zone keeps the rebounders under the boards... so that they can limit their opposition to one shot.

Nicky's like a human vacuum cleaner on the boards when she's allowed to stay in the lane.

And since their bench is depleted, the guards are going to have to control the tempo of the game and slow it down.

I certainly hope that Anna Breitreiner is able to play. That will make this game a lot easier for KSSSE AZS PWSZ.

If not, we'll win with whomever we have!

Nicky is going to have to dictate and dominate!

She's going to have to box out and sweep the boards... work to seal-off her defender and dominate the lane... and play smart to steer clear of foul trouble.

But most importantly, Big Nick is going to have to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate...

She's gotta keep her energy level up... stow away a couple of energy bars to refuel during halftime for the second half... and be prepared to play the entire game.

Losing is not an option, Bezet... especially against the last place team in the league.

If we run out of players, you and I may have to suit-up and go into the game. But losing is unacceptable, my friend.

Hey deeo'!!! Man, I'm just worn out from pulling Auburn through their game with Tennessee tonight. (52 second half points) That and softball practice, we're supposed to play next weekend in a tourney, I don't know if this old body is ready, I may need to consider retirement.

I saw the pictures from the game that you posted, it looked like it was really physical. And Britreiner said that it was good defense. I still haven't figured out about Nicky's quick 6 points. It seemed that the refs considered one of the fouls intentional. Then it seemed there was a technical on top of that for a player arguing with the ref. Does that seem about right?

I looked on the forum for Dawcio's pictures, but he/she must have sent them to you privately. Is that right? I've seen the private word button on the forum. How does it work?

As far as getting them posted, ummmmm, I really don't know. I would love to see them though.

Are you going to be watching KSSSE's game in the morning? I would also like to see Euroleague All Star game tomorrow too. You can watch that game online.

Bezet, I saw where Lotos clobbered CCC. I don't know if that's good news or bad news.

Finally, they describe the 6-point-play by Nicky Anosike. But Bezet... you have to translate this for me:

The third quarter was very even. Enduring severe struggle for every ball, and dealt with the fate of the match in 28 minutes. Powerful Anosike first gained two points, then standing back to the basket, much rozpychajÄ...ca to Å‚okciami American, fought for position podkoszowÄ... with PiestrzyÅ„skÄ.... In bezpardonowej fight faulujÄ...cÄ... think the judge was PiestrzyÅ„skÄ... that during the fight nadepnęła Anosike. The judges further treated as a behavior and punished niesportowe Traffic offenses technical team. Anosike seized the opportunity and won in "one of the" 6 points (4 +2). Clearly precipitated the strike housekeepers could not longer after that to raise ciosie want to continue losing the fight. Point contact with the rival proved to be too much longer (43:60) so strong and experienced team has the personality snatch victory.
www.plkk.pl

And cash, Big Money... check out these photos of Big Nick, blocking out, taking it to the rim, defending and just all out hustling in yesterday's game. She makes me so proud. Not one photo where she's out of position... proof that she came to play, ba-by!

I see that Nicky Anosike finished with 21 points, 5 boards, 1 assist and 1 steal. Her 7 freethrows indicates to me that she was drawing the contact in the lane. (That's my Nicky!) But, cash, I wonder if Nicky was injured when she was "on the floor dying?"

Samantha Richards played an excellent game... 11 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

Edyta Koryzna picked up a lot of the offensive slack with 17 points. And Anna Breitreiner had a good game (with 14 points), despite her injuries.

It seems like Coach Dariusz got the maximum effort out of his players yesterday.

But our team is still getting out-rebounded. This will not work against the better teams. We have to fix it. We have to employ a defense that will not pull our key rebounders out of rebounding position. Then our rebounders have to block out their opponents and get the job done.

Otherwise, it was nice to hear Anna Breitrainer's comments about the game and the team's great defensive effort.

KSSSE AZS PWSZ forced 19 turnovers... 12 of them were steals. Now, that's intense defense. (lol)

It also doesn't hurt that we shot 63% from the field... 57% from the 3-point arc (much better than the 6% we shot from 3-point land in the last game).

Now, if only we can get some folks healthy for our next game Sunday against INEA AZS Poznań.

Hey, Big Money... that game is at 7:15 a.m. ET. Are you ready for this? (lol)

Not often. Sometimes.

I really don't know. We have to wait until "Transmisje live" disapears and then we'll look at "Ostatnie mecze"

I have listened to the radio that Nicky was fouling by player from Pabianice and then opponent player discussed with referee, so recived technical foul.

You (referee) should work in the circus, but never on the basketball court - that was from Pabianice fans, to the referee of course.

What the heck happened?

I counted 21 points for Nicky Anosike before she was taken out of the game with 4:37 to go in the game.

PLKK still shows the score as being 21-25 in KSSSE AZS PWSZ's favor... and the game is over.

How often does this happen, Bezet?

Will PLKK post the full stats later?

I really would like to see those stats.

PLKK had the score 21-0 in the other team's favor to start the game. Then 21-5.

It must have been an exciting game for the fans at PTK Pabianice... intentional fouls... Gorzów24 ragging on the referees.

What really happen for Nicky to get a 6-point play?

Then came the "43:62 Anosike throws on floor dying!" to make it 8 straight points for Nicky.

Then Gorzów24 makes the comment: "Ty sie nadajesz do cyrku nie do sedziowania - tyle od kibicow z Pabianic, do sedziego oczywiscie You are not suited to the circus to sedziowania - as many of the fans from Pabianice, of course, to judge"

Bezet, please explain what happened.

Yeah... second in the WNBA in picks, I present to you Big Nick... Chairman of the Boards... the Secretary of Defense... so, so wicked, but oh, so goooood! LOL deeo'.

It was a good game, Breitreiner came out shooting 3's. I believe Koryzna was shooting around 100% in the first half. And you can SEE by the stats that they were very active on defense, 16 steals, wow! I caught the last few minutes of the CCC-Wisla Can Pack game. CCC pulled ahead right at the very end of the game. So this leaves KSSSE at #2?

NOW... THAT'S "THE BIG NASTY!"

Hello, Finepharm AZS KK Jelenia Góra... Nicky Anosike is calling.

Yeah... second in the WNBA in picks, I present to you Big Nick... Chairman of the Boards... the Secretary of Defense... so, so wicked, but oh, so goooood!

Haa-cha-cha-cha-cha! The mother ship has landed! "All A-board!"

In the immortal words of the King of Soul, James Brown, "Jump back! I wanna kiss myself... Hey!"

A big double-double... 17 points... 10 rebounds... FOUR steals... 2 assists... 1 block... NO turnovers... and Nicky Anosike has left the building, y'all!

Great game, Nicky! You make me want to shout... and do my happy dance... again! (lol)

Coach Dariusz has really got his team on track... not to take second place... but to take FIRST place in the league.
js1.live.iskiereczka.pl/plkk_2201.html
live.plkk.pl/plkk/mecz.html?game_id=2198

KSSSE AZS PWSZ is dominating the boards (36-24 today).

The Gorzów players have their heads up on offense looking for the open man (14 assists)... and their hands active on defense forcing turnovers (20... 16 of which were steals).

Anna Breitreiner (23 points, 55% from the 3-point arc (5-9), 6 boards), Edyta Koryzna (17 points, 3 steals), Justyna Żurowska ( 3 steals, 6 boards), Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk (10 points, 3 steals)... all played a great game.

But I have to tip my hat to Samantha Richards with SEVEN assists and NO turnovers... an excellent effort!

Now... I would like to take this opportunity to thank CCC for thumping Wisła Can Pack out of second place for us today, (70-66). We're now, #2... and counting!

But Sunday against CCC... I sure hope "The Big Nasty" is in the house... and as my friend, Bezet says, "there's blood on the floor!" CCC's blood, I hope! (lol)

Just after our last game (against AZS Poznań) captain of Poznań team - 33 years old, very experienced (practiced) player - Monika Sibora said at local Radio Zachód:
"They (in meanning Gorzów team) have "rewelacyjnÄ..." (sensational, excellent) rebounder Anosike, who has showed us how we should play (how a play should looks like).

Deeo', dribble drunk, :^O. It sounds like you have a very athletic family, awesome. I like this time of year too, I try to catch as many women's tournament games as I can. Did you get to watch the AU/TN game last night? DeWanna Bonner and Whitney Boddie are absolutely fun to watch.

Did you see 5 jest najlepsza's topic about the 04-05 game by game schedule? I'll try to help him/her. And I'll get in touch with Dawcio, see if he/she will share those pictures with me.

Later.......B-)

Hey, Bezet... first, I'd like to wish you a Happy Women's Day!

That sounds like a fabulous holiday you have there. And I certainly hope you enjoy this special day.

But oh, my goodness..... KSSSE AZS PWSZ completely scalped INEA AZS Poznań. Mercy!
209.85.133.132/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=pl&tl=en&u=http://js1.live.iskiereczka.pl/plkk_2193.html&prev=_t&usg=ALkJrhjG_vYFfl3DRzgIGHvt8M...
live.plkk.pl/plkk/mecz.html?game_id=2193

We dominated the boards, 38 to 29.

We forced 23 turnovers... and 19 of them were steals.

And the 17 assists indicates three things... good ball movement, a high shooting percentage (50%) and great teamwork.

That's how you win ball games... by winning the battle of the boards... by playing good defense... and by being unselfish and hitting the open man on offense.

Everyone was involved in the offense and put together an awesome offensive assault.

Although Nicky Anosike didn't have a great day shooting (33% for 12 points), I absolutely LOVED her energy and aggressiveness on defense.

"The Big Nasty" showed up and nabbed FIVE offensive boards, 3 defensive boards and 2 steals... and smacked away two shots.

Oh how I love "The Big Nasty!"

Anna Breitreiner (24 points), Edyta Koryzna (20 points and 3 steals), Justyna Żurowska (11 points, 9 boards and 3 steals), Samantha Richards (7 points, 4 assists, 4 steals and 4 boards), Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk and Katarzyna Czubak... all played fantastic!

Fifteen turnovers was kinda high for KSSSE AZS PWSZ... but it was understandable since the back-up players played a significant portion of the game.

This calls for some P&P... Pasta tonight and Practice tomorrow. (lol)

Next up is Finepharm AZS KK on Wednesday. Bring 'em on! (lol)

Just after our last winning game with Pabianice coach D.Maciejewski said - in interview for "A-Zet-eS" webmagazine - that there were bad moments in our play (in Pabianice) when no one had gone to a board; Nicky had throwed and then nobody had helped her on the board. Also said that every girl in our team (because of short bench now) should (must) play maximum herself possibility.

And now I'm going out to the Arena. to watch AZS Gorzów - AZS Poznań game.

Cash... so, that was YOU pulling on the other end of the rope... against my Tennessee Lady Vols! (lol) (lol) (lol)

Big Money, I've been watching basketball since noon... and it's well after midnight right now. I'm dribble-drunk. (lol)

I love this time of season when the NCAA winds down to March Madness.

I watched my cousin Jodie Meeks' team go down in defeat to Florida. He looks so frustrated. I think Coach Billy Gillispie has finally broken his spirit. Despite being one of the top 3 or 4 scorers in the country, Jodie has been benched a couple of times for no apparent reason in nationally-televised games.

Jodie just needs to tune Gillispie out and find his "joy" spot... that place inside himself that just enjoys playing the game. And just play. Kentucky may not rate an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament right now, but they could still have a nice run in the SEC tournament and play their way in.

My other little cousin, A.J. Slaughter, plays for Western Kentucky in the Sun Belt Conference and has a bye in the first round of their tournament.

My nephew attends Morehead State University... and I just watched them win the Ohio Valley Conference in double overtime tonight.

My niece attends the University of Louisville... and I just watched them hold off West Virginia to win the Big East regular season title tonight.

Now, after we close at 4 a.m., I'll have to eat alittle breakfast and wait for Nicky's game at 7:15 a.m. ET.

Nicky is getting real close to her natural game. She's real active... aggressive...

I just can't wait for the "The Big Nasty" to rear her head for Gorzów Wielkopolski... and just snatch-up the backboards and put 'em in her back pocket. Then... throw in a few steals, a couple assists and about 20 or 30 points against INEA AZS Poznań this morning. Now... THAT would melt the butter on my waffle! (lol)

But getting back to the Dawcio's photos of Nicky...

Dawcio had posted one great photo of Nicky in the PLKK forum under the Nicky Anosike Birthday post. Then he sent me a private message requesting my e-mail address to send other Nicky photos to me. But I want to share them with everyone... especially you.

So, pleeeease contact Dawcio by clicking on his username and choosing the private message button to contact Dawcio directly. I know that if you get the photos you'd know how to create a link to post them.

And as for you and softball, cash... don't retire... catch fire! And have a ball!

P.S. -- Walgreens' has Ben-G-a-y and ice-packs on sale this week. (lol) Hang in there, Big Money.

*************** update ***************

Jeepers... I just read in the paper where yet another one of my cousins (A.J.'s little sister) Antonita Slaughter scored 34 points and nabbed 13 boards to go to the girls' state championships.

The most important game, ending PLKK regular season, will take a place not in Kraków (Wisła Kraków - Lotos Gdynia), but in Gorzów (KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski - CCC Polkowice).

"Oczy caÅ‚ej Polski bÄ™dÄ... wiÄ™c zwrócone na Gorzów. Tam odbÄ™dzie siÄ™ spotkanie sezonu decydujÄ...ce o kolejnoÅ›ci miejsc po sesji zasadniczej a jakie bÄ™dÄ... rozstrzygniÄ™cia przekonamy siÄ™ już w najbliższy weekend. Emocji z pewnoÅ›ciÄ... nie zabraknie."
The whole article, here: www.plkk.pl/index.php?id=3943

Before our game with AZS Poznań there was a brochure (a folder?) in the basket-hall with an interview with Nicky.
[ Please forgive me my non-perfect translation ]

Q. - How do you like Gorzów?
N.A. – I haven’t enough time to see the town because or we go to the games or we practice two times a day, so the rest of time I must destinate for a rest. But I like very much the people's ambience. People are kind, often are talking, asking how is going on. When a lived and grew up in New York, it was impossible; no one was interested in other people's lives there.
...............................................................................................
Q. – Do you miss your family in the USA?
N.A. – Oh, yes. I have four brothers an three sisters and one of them has one-month child and I’m looking forward to see a little baby.

Q. How do you find a level of Polish Leage?
N.A. – I only can compare with Israel and American league. As compared with Israel, level in Poland is much higher. In Israel I couldn’t show all my skills and I wasn’t forced to work (effort) as such in Poland I am. In Poland, to reach a win - no matter with which team – I must to give (to do?) my best, ... and I like it (I’m glad?), because that is the way I can develope my skills and make them better.

I saw that post on the forum today. Visitor is writing about Nicky's stats that the Lynx website posted in the article "Regular Season Play Winding Down Overseas", how they are a little different from what the PLKK has.

And yes, I e-mailed Dawcio a couple of days ago, but haven't heard from him/her yet.

And Bezet, after the Coach talked to the team at halftime, (or yelled at the team) they did not lose their concentration at all. They got most of the steals in the 2nd half and only allowed the other team to score 5 points in the 4th quarter. I hope A-Zet-Es will show some of the game on their next edition.

I'm happy about being in second place, Bezet.... but I'm not satisfied with it. I want to be in first place! And so does Nicky!

It's very possible to move into first place Sunday... if we defeat CCC... and if Wisła Can Pack thumps Lotos PKO BP out of the first place spot for us.

You have to believe, Bezet! I do!

Deeo', I like the way you express your enjoy because of our win and Nicky's very good play today.

> Hey, Bezet... how did you like the game?
I think it was very important game for us and its result mostly determines standings table.

To show you real emotions which were during that game, here is what just after today's game Coach Darek said (http://www.gorzow24.pl/sport/19-koszykowka/news/6067/latwe-zwyciestwo-koszykarek-pewne-minimum-trzecie-miejsce.html):

"PrzyjechaliÅ›my ten mecz wygrać, zapewnić sobie minimum 3 miejsce przed rundÄ... playoff, .............. o czym do tej pory marzyliÅ›my. ........... Momentami brakowaÅ‚o tej koncentracji, szczególnie w koÅ„cówce 2. kwarty, gdzie jÄ... przegraliÅ›my 7:0, no i troszeczkÄ™ mi siÄ™ ciÅ›nienie podniosÅ‚o - w szatni to byÅ‚o chyba widać i sÅ‚ychać - i wróciliÅ›my już do swojego rytmu grania ........."

[ "We went (to Jelenia Góra) to win that game, to take minimum third place before playoffs round, ........ it was that we dreamt about so far. ......... There were moments we have lost our concentration, specially at the end of second quarter, when we losed seven:zero, (and then) MY PRESSURE OF BLOOD WENT UP A LITTLE BIT - WHAT IN A CHANGES ROOM MAYBE YOU CAN SEE AND HEAR - (and then) we came back to our rhythm of play ....... " ]

There is a "Nicky Anosike" post on the PLKK forum by Visitor-1147. I plan to post later today. I've got to make sure that I'm translating it correctly.

Did you ever contact, Dawcio, cash? I would forward the photos from my e-mail to yours, but each photo is an individual e-mail. And there are many of them. If we could only figure out how to consolidate everything and create a link, that would be great.

We really miss Nicky's tenacious defense and work ethic right now in TN, deeo. We always knew Nicky would be a star down here but that it never would matter to her either way b/c she's all about the team and working hard. Glad to see she's continuing her exceptional play overseas and looking forward to seeing her in the league for her soph year.

Hey, thanks... spark90!

I agree with everything you said.

And what's really exciting for Nicky Anosike fans like me is watching Nicky step out of Candace Parker's HUGE shadow... and into the spotlight... where Nicky is casting a pretty large shadow herself.

"The Big Nasty" is currently in Poland... where she scored 20 points, snagged 8 boards (FOUR offensive boards), dished out 2 assists, swatted 2 blocks and swiped SEVEN steals to help her team advance to the semi-final round of the playoffs there today.

So, as you can see, spark90, Nicky's kicking into her NCAA-tournament-run mode... just like she has been accustomed to doing around this time of the year for the past four years at Tennessee. And oh, how she loves to collect championships! (lol)

"There is no doubt, in that game, team Polkowice was much better than our team."

BEZET! I can't believe that these words came out of your mouth!

CCC is not better than KSSSE AZS PWSZ!

CCC just handled the moment better than KSSSE AZS PWSZ.

Their game Sunday was hyped-up so high by the media, the league, the clubs and the fans... that the players on BOTH teams struggled to live up to the hype... and the pressure.

CCC managed to handle the hype and pressure better than KSSSE AZS PWSZ. That's all!

Is it normal for Anna Breitreiner to go scoreless in a game... or for Nicky to miss 7 freethrows... or for both Edyta Koryzna and Justyna Żurowska to foul out of a game in less than 18 to 26 minutes?

NO!

We normally shoot 74% from the freethrow line. But that day, we shot 57%.

We stole the ball ELEVEN times (7 more than CCC). How is it that we didn't convert these steals into points?

CCC shot 58% from the line and coughed up 19 turnovers. So, you see... they were nervous, too.

But CCC had 12 more rebounds than KSSSE AZS PWSZ. And that means that CCC had TWELVE MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO SCORE than KSSSE AZS PWSZ had.

That's why we have to control the boards to win the championship.

You have to limit your opponent's opportunities to score... while increasing your team's opportunities to score.

No team in Poland practices as much or as hard as our players practice.

So, no one is more prepared than our team.

And when our players focus and execute, no team is better than our team.

So, what it comes down to is... FOCUS and EXECUTION!

We have to give ourselves more opportunities to score by REBOUNDING and forcing turnovers.

We have to tune everything out and FOCUS... at the freethrow line... on defense to blanket our opponents and not allow any open shots... and under the boards to block out and control the boards.

Then we have to EXECUTE. Square-up on our shots and knock 'em down. Take good care of the ball and limit our turnovers.

That's it... in a nutshell!

Bezet, you can never say that another team is better than your team... if you believe that your team can win the championship.

I believe KSSSE AZS PWSZ CAN win the championship!

To do that, we must go through CCC.

So be it!

Bring 'em on!

But this time, we'll be ready... and steady with the macheté, Betty... to mow CCC down... on our way to the crown! (lol)

Pleeeeaase stop me... before I rhyme again! (lol) (lol) (lol)

I got the time right today and it was a close game. Inea Azs Poznan was trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. Kssse won by 3 points. Samantha Richards got in foul trouble and had to sit a while, so did Nicky. 3 of Kssse players were playing with 4 fouls late in the game. So, it looks like their next game will be on the 28th against CCC, then again on the 29th and if needed on 04/04, in a best 2 out of 3 semi-final.

On the 3. March on PLKK site was published the news:

"Mecze ostatniej kolejki o godz. 16.00
____ [ 2009-03-03 11:52 ] ____
Polska Liga Koszykówki Kobiet informuje, że wszystkie mecze ostatniej kolejki rundy zasadniczej Ford Germaz Ekstraklasy zostanÄ... rozegrane w dniu 15 marca (niedziela) o godzinie 16.00."

Also, on PLKK website in "Następne mecze" all games had got (on Saturday 14. and on Sunday 15.) information, that all games will start at 16:00 (Warsaw time).

There is no doubt, in that game, team Polkowice was much better than our team.

Coach D. Maciejewski said, that Anne Breitreiner had got a cold, so she didn't practice a couple of days before the 15. March; in Jelenia Góra Anne scored 23 points because she played there "na świeżości" [ on freschness? ] although she didn't practice, but last Sunday in Gorzów Anne was "almost dead" (no practice = no good phisical shape).

I thought that game time was posted for 18:00, but I just happened to be in the website browsing around a couple of hours early and I pulled up the game!!!! I don't know if I misread game time or they didn't post it correctly but I just accidently got to see the game. It was not a good game for KSSSE. From what I can read and understand, the hall was packed, sold out and very noisy. I think some higher officials were there, but it seemed that KSSSE got off to a very shaky start. In the first half, Nicky was only 3-11 and FT were only 2-7.

And Breitreiner was not shooting well and was on the bench a lot. I think I read that she and Richards were both sick. But Zurowska had a better game yesterday than her last outing. And if you read the play by play in Gorzow24.pl there seemed to be some problem with the officiating, I think. And in the photos from Gorzow24.pl, Nicky did seem to be guarding Plenette.

Maybe Bezet can help explain Sunday's game to us.

What happened, Bezet?!

I miscalculated the time and missed the entire game. (I had to stay open late Saturday night because Louisville captured the Big East title... and eventually the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Boy, did they celebrate around here!)

When I went to the PLKK website, it listed the playoff pairings.

I was so upset to find out that I not only missed the game... but that we had lost!

I read all that I could on the game... Gorzów24.pl's stats are different from PLKK.pl's stats.

What happened to Anna Breitreiner? Was she injured? We definitely missed her 16-20 points and her help on the boards. She was listed as playing 23 minutes... taking only 5 shots for no points... and only one rebound. Is she okay?

Other than a dismal day at the freethrow line (2-9) and a so-so day from the field (38%), Nicky Anosike played a helluva game... racking up a double-double with 16 or 17 points, 12 rebounds (SIX offensive boards), 2 steals, 2 assists and 3 blocks.

I can see where she fought hard on both ends of the court. And she only had one turnover... despite playing the entire game (38:32 minutes)!

I also see where Samantha Richards picked up some of the slack in the scoring column. But losing both Edyta Koryzna and Justyna Żurowska to fouls after only 18 minutes for Justyna and 26 minutes for Edyta was a sure recipe for disaster.

Any attempt to stay afloat beyond the point of KSSSE AZS PWSZ losing Anna's scoring and losing Justyna and Edyta to disqualification (fouling out)... was like rearranging chairs on a ship going down.

It was a valiant effort on the part of Nicky, Samantha and Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk to try to keep the KSSSE AZS PWSZ ship afloat with such a gaping hole in it's hull... it's offense.

Okay... so, now we're the #3 seed in the playoffs.

We have to take one game at a time.

Keep it simple.

And don't over practice.

I have a feeling that our players are leaving their best performances on the practice court.

Nicky is a good freethrow shooter. When she misses that many freethrows in a game, she's not getting the time she needs before the game to warmup on the freethrow line... alone. Also she needs to take a little more time on the freethrow line during the game to gather her focus and execute.

CCC murdered us on the boards (39-27).

We have to block out our opponents and rebound. We have to win the battle of the boards.

KSSSE AZS PWSZ forced 19 turnovers against CCC -- 11 of them were steals. But we obviously didn't convert them into points.

So, when INEA AZS Poznań throws the ball away... we have to make them pay... by converting turnovers into points.

One bright point about Sunday's game with CCC was that KSSSE AZS PWSZ took great care of the ball when it was in their possession... only 9 turnovers.

But our players have to play with a little more control... to keep from fouling out of the game.

Oh, and cash... I'll bet you a dime to a donut that Nicky WAS guarding Plenette Pierson in that game!

Nicky... "The Big Nasty" had 3 blocks... and Plenette got her shot blocked 3 times! No coincident there. (lol)

It looks like "The Big Nasty" gave Plenette quite a few problems. In addition to stuffing her shot THREE times, Nicky held Plenette below her average (14 points) with 11 points and forced her to turn over the ball SIX times.

That's our Nicky, Big Money!

********** update **********

Hey, cash... I was right!

Dawcio just sent me some fabulous pictures of Nicky! And one of them is of Nicky guarding Plenette.

Yep... that's my Nicky!

Hey, deeo’. Hey, cash.

Today, I don’t worry about Anosike, Breitreiner, Czubak, Koryzna, Richards. They all are in a good shape (physical and psychological).
The “key-player” is Justyna Å»urowska (=”a lot depends on how Justyna will play today”). Å»urowska is a very good player, but she’s got a little (psychological) problem lately – she’s not effective (against AZS PoznaÅ„: 0/3 for 2; 0/2 for 3; 0/2 for 1). So, if Å»urowska will play today on her normal good level (10–14 points; 8–12 rebounds; 4-6 steals) we surely will win today. But if she won’t - ?????? (I’m not sure we’ll win; rather not).

Coach Dariusz Maciejewski said yesterday: “we not calculate a result of tomorrow’s game [whether better for our team is to win? or whether to lose?]. We will play to gain a victory over CCC Polkowice”.

And “Let it be”.

That's the game-plan... WIN! (lol) Block out... control the boards... seal-off her defender... score or look for the open man... stay busy on defense... and WIN!

Geno didn't take a shot at TN or Coach Summitt. He was complimenting his players in his mini interview last night during the game. He nowhere said anything about TN and didnt refer to TN in any way. Yes Uconn and TN fans don't like each other but like I said before, I am a huge Uconn fan and have been for the past 3 years, yes only the past 3 years. I wasn't a fan of Womens college ball at all before that and I haven't been a fan when the two teams played each other so I have no reason to dislike TN. I only watch Uconn games, I dont watch any other teams when theyre on tv, so basically, I dont hate any other team. Geno is a good guy, just like Pat is a good gal. Like i said, I met Geno and talked to him a few times. So when people, who havent met the man, say hes a jerk, that just speaks volumes about the person who disrespects a coach whom they never met. It makes the person who called him a jerk, a jerk.

Sorry for the delinquent response, deeo. I've been rippin' and runnin' with not a lot of time to get back on the board. That loss was tough and the natives are losing their minds down here in TN. They're sayin' the kids aren't any good, Coach can't recruit, hit the JUCO again; everything in the book. It's pandemonium and a complete meltdown and a complete overreaction. Hopefully, this will serve as motivation for the team and they've already begun the offseason process of getting better. They were young and inexperienced and it showed up in the form of inconsistency and a lack of mental toughness more so in the 2nd half of the year. They've got the talent (they weren't HS AAs for nothing) but really need to adjust their attitudes to that of the "TN Way" to fully realize their potential. Ball's in their court and it'll be interesting to see how they respond.

I would hope Geno wouldn't take a pot shot at TN or Coach with the many issues (injuries, youth, inexperience, etc.) this year's team had as TN didn't take shots when 2 key players went down for UConn last year. To even take shots at these kids would be really low but since I don't know that he did, I won't say he was wrong for that. TN and UConn don't like each other so it will always be a neverending battle between them and their fanbases. They are the Yankees/Red Sox, Lakers/Celtics or Lakers/Pistons, Cowboys/Redskins of WBB. Ironically, the two are forever tied with one another and actually were helped by each other. TN gave an up and coming UConn a shot back in 1995 and when they beat TN, they instantly became a power. In return, TN instantly got a bonafide rivalry and even more respect. Out of that, the women's game got a great rivalry that spans time and brings recognition and nation wide hype anytime the superpowers meet. It's one of the few sure things: TN and UConn respect each other but are lifelong sworn enemies even if their players don't dislike each other. They have both put more players (TN-14-15, UConn-13) in the league than any other collegiate teams and players that play for them normally become better players under the coaches' tutelage. I'm a TN person to the heart, born and raised in K-town, and do not like UConn but do respect them and what their program has accomplished.

How is Geno a jerk? What he said about his players and why people come to play at UConn was right. I don't dislike Pat Summitt just because I am a Uconn fan but you don't know Geno, he is not a jerk. He is a very nice person and a great coach who coaches the best team in the country. He is also the BEST coach in the country who has the winningest percentage of all womens basketball coaches. I have met Geno several times and can honestly say he is a very nice and caring individual so unless you have met him in person and he was a smug jerk to you, then you have no right calling anyone a jerk that you don't know. Very stupid comment on your part.

And even if he was a jerk (which he's not), who cares. His school loves him, Uconn's fans love him, his players who come to Uconn love him, his coaching staff loves him and he really knows how to make good high school players outstanding college players. What other school has graduated as many great players that have gone onto stellar pro careers as Uconn did? None. Tennessee is a very close 2nd. The best players usually either go to Uconn or Tenneessee to play because of the head coaches at those schools and because they know they will become better players for it. If Geno was such a jerk as you call him, high school players wouldn't be clammering to go to Uconn to play for the best coach in the country now would they?

As usual, people like you bash Geno for making a comment that you didn't even understand. He was saying that he doesn't recruit players who don't understand the 'team' concept. Well DUH. Why would he want to recruit a bunch of players that he knows can't play well together?? His comment was also a compliment to the incredible team he is coaching this year.

Former Uconn players come back to Uconn all the time to see the Huskies play and to hang out with their old coach because even though he may have been a bit hard on some of them at times during their college years, they know that he did that because he seen the potential in them for greatness and made them better players.

I've seen Pat Summitt make some pretty smug sounding comments at times in the past but you don't see people calling her a jerk or inhuman. Grow up.

Well, cash... if the young Lady Vols thought that their season was over when they got knocked out of the NCAA tournament... they were sadly mistaken. (lol)

Did you see the video of Coach Pat Summitt holding practice -- as usual -- when they returned to Tennessee?

You say that this young Lady Vols team has to learn, Big Money? I have a feeling that they will... or else. (lol)

The sports analysts on ESPN tried to hint that Coach Summitt didn't take her early ouster from the NCAA tournament well.

To be honest with you, cash... I think that Coach Summitt was more relieved than anythingelse. She no longer had to shoulder the heavy load of extemely high expectations... all of her own NCAA records. She has adsorbed the impact. Now, she can let her hair down... regroup... and seize every opportunity to get her young team ready to start a new NCAA winning streak next year.

And did you see the mural with Nicky Anosike (wearing the big double-nickels) and Coach Summitt overlooking the Lady Vols' practice court?

And did you hear Geno Auriemma's smug remarks about how he recruits players who don't have a problem with dealing with their NCAA traditions... they have the character to accept their roles... it's not pressure to them... that's why they come to UConn?

He's such a jerk. The concept of humility completely escapes him. Geno had better hope that what goes around doesn't come back around... to bite him on his hair-moussed gazoo. (lol) (lol) (lol)

Wow, that was a tough loss last night. It would have been a different story had Kelly Cain not gone out of the game. You could tell it was heartbreaking to Pat. As for next year, the talent is there, they are just going to have to learn how to play as a team.

Tonight... the howl of a lone Tennessee Volunteer hounddog echoes in the mountains of Good Ol' Rocky Top...

This is the first time the Tennessee Lady Vols -- under Coach Pat Summitt -- has EVER left the Big Dance in the first round. What... in 30 years?

The fact that Coach Summitt was even able to muster her young roster into a #5 seed in the NCAA tournament is quite an achievement in itself... and a true testament to how really great she is... especially after losing her entire starting five from her back-to-back NCAA Championship team.

This just makes Lady Vols fans like me realize how special Coach Summitt is... and how really spoiled we've been... basking in her wonderful winning tradition.

But as I put head to pillow tonight... and close the chapter on this year's season... I can rest assured that Coach Summitt's infamous steely blue-eyed stare is fixed firmly on next year... and the NCAA crown that she left behind this year.

Bezet, my friend... we have joined the battle... it's playoff time... and I will defer or concede very little to our opponents.

You'll find that I am very passionate about winning.

My passion to win is like the water that Papusza spoke of in her poem... "...The water does not look behind... It flees, runs farther away...".

My passion to win looks only forward... never behind.

That same passion to win is why I stare stoically into a computer screen at play-by-play transmissions printed in a language I do not understand at odd hours of the day when I should be asleep.

That same passion to win is one of the main reasons why I am a Nicky Anosike fan. She shares my insatiable desire to win.

Bezet... Gorzów Wielkopolski is The City of Many Possibilities... at least that is its official motto.

But there is only one possibility that concerns me in Gorzów Wielkopolski right now... and that's the possibility of winning the best 3 out of 5 games against CCC to advance to the championship finals.

I know that is what Nicky wants... no matter who she's playing for... Gorzów Wielkopolski's KSSSE AZS PWSZ... Israel's Elitzur Ramla... the Minnesota Lynx... or the Tennessee Lady Vols.

"The Big Nasty" will concede nothing. She will fight until the bitter end... the final buzzer... to defeat the best... so that she can be considered among the best... so that she can be called Champion.

I guess I'm just hopeless, Bezet. Here in America, when we root against someone... we don't like anything about them... their dog, their cat or anyone who even resembles them. (lol)

So, please forgive me if I misunderstood what you said. It's just that CCC Polkowice gets NO love from me until this playoff series is won... and done.

deeo', I didn't said: "CCC Polkowice is better than our team".

I only said: " ........., in that game, team Polkowice was much better .......... ". And that is the truth, they were much better that day.

I really DO want our team to be the best team in Poland. But I also respect every opposite team. I think that we all together (coaches, players and fans) ought to have a deference to our opponents, no matter whether we win or we lose.

And yes, our Tennessee Lady Vols are struggling this year without Nicky, Candace and the rest.

But don't count 'em out. This is a magical part of the year for Coach Pat Summitt and her Lady Vols. Strange things have been known to happen. (lol)

Just to end the Pat/Geno discussion, I agree neither is perfect and both can and have made mistakes before. The one thing that everyone can agree on is that both are brilliant coaches and have kept their programs consistently great and on top for many years. That's a testament to both's ability to lead and get results and the best from their players. Their players love them and always come back to see them and that's what really is most important: the player-coach relationship during and after their careers. UConn/TN is still a great rivalry and if they ever do meet again, WCBB will get a huge viewership from that game. It is what it is and all of us should move on from that. Geno didn't say anything about Pat and Pat hasn't said anything uncomplimentary about Geno. Done deal.

i never said pat didnt have class. of course she does. she's well loved in the world of women's basketball. a few comments by geno over the years makes him a jerk? your rediculous. pat and geno are different personalities. they are like fire and ice. for years they have played off each other and they both loved it. they both took jabs at each other over the years but they both loved it and loved when it was time to play each other. the only thing i find disrespectful about pat summitt is when she called off the series because she said she was tired of their playful banter that they both enjoyed for years. not only did she do a disservice to womens ball in general, she did a disservice to all the fans that loved and went to the uconn/tenn games, and to the tv networks that relied on the uconn/tenn games for ratings. the uconn/tenn games were really the only high rated games on tv and when she called it off, a lot of people lost a lot of money because of it and the most famous rivalry in basketball was cut off for fans everywhere. to me, that makes patty summitt a jerk. neither coach is perfect, but neither are saints as well. so please, get over yourself

Cash... (lol) (lol) did I say something wrong? (lol)

To be honest with you, Big Money... Geno Auriemma being a jerk was an insignificant part of what I was saying to you. It was a given... to me. I thought everyone accepted the fact that he was a jerk.

But I really do appreciate ronb711 being honest about it. And I even accept ronb711's reasoning for Geno's crass behavior.

Geno is an Italian transplant who grew up outside of Philly. But the only reason he decided to become an American citizen after 33 years in a country that has been very good to him (according to his own book) is because he was taking his UConn team to Italy one summer and he feared problems with his visa due to his failure to comply with Italian visa requirements over the years.

So, I think ronb711 explained Geno's type of mentality very well.

And trevor... explain away as you may... but Geno has earned the title of jerk.

Steal a page from ronb711... and accept the facts.

And the reason you haven't trashed Coach Pat Summitt in your posts is because Coach Summitt hasn't given you any reason to trash her. She's a class act... and a winner. Geno is a crass act... but he is a winner, also.

Now, trevor... I've given you a pass TWICE on your attempts to snipe at me.

The next time, you take a snipe at me... it'll be my turn... and you're going to walk away with a slight limp, suga'. (lol) (lol) (lol)

And cash, the video from the Lady Vols' practice session was on ESPN. The mural extends along the baseline overlooking one end of the court. Nicky Anosike is in the center... passing the ball... Coach Pat Summitt is off to the right in the mural... there's another player in the upper lefthand corner of the mural.

I wonder if there is another mural on the other baseline.

Check out ESPN.com to see if they have this video on their website.

Ok first off, Geno's comments about the 'offering a ride'' was just his sense of humor, he likes to joke around and he likes to keep it real and not put on a phoney persona like Summitt. Yes Summitt says all the right things to the media, which is, to me, phoney. Geno tells it like it is which in my book, makes him more of a human being than someone who just puts on a front for the media. If people always said what they felt instead of putting on a front for the camera, the world would be a better place.

Geno is not a jerk at all. He just tells it like it is and I have a lot of respect for people like that. And he has an actual sense of humor to boot.

And of course Pat is the winningest coach in womens ball. She's been around 30 years. Geno hasn't been around as long as her but yes, Geno has a higher percentage of wins than Pat. I wasn't talking about the number of games won, I'm talking about the percentage, which is the number that really counts. It means that Geno has won more games than Pat on average of the amount of games both coaches have been involved with.

And Dee dear, you were the one who started the Geno bash in a thread about Anosike, not me, I am just defending the great coach and person that is Geno. I guess I have more class than you do since not once in any of my other threads in other topics have I dissed Pat Summitt for no reason in a thread about someone else.

Wow deeo', did you open a can of worms or what with your comment about good ol' Geno?!?

About the Lady Vols and practice....I had heard that they were having practice as soon as they got back to campus, but I didn't see the clip that you saw. Is it available online do you think? I checked on the LV website and didn't see a video. I read a couple of articles on Go Vols Xtra that were pretty good but didn't see a video.

And did you see the mural with Nicky Anosike (wearing the big double-nickels) and Coach Summitt overlooking the Lady Vols' practice court?

No I didn't see this, was this on the video too? I would really like to see the mural......How cool is that?

Gino did not take a 'pot shot' at Pat or TN. As far as his personality - hey he's from New Jersey. Many form NJ are 'brash'. He's good for the game just as Pat is. His players love him and that's all that counts. I can understand how some outside of CT see him as a jerk but he is what he is and he's actually quite funny if you really listen to what he has to say. Hey - you need characters in the game to bring attention to women's basketball. Even a CT fan like myself can appreciate that Lambier also is good foe the game. Don't take everything that is said or done too seriously when it comes to some of the characters of the game.

Trevor... trevor... trevor... please be advised that I'm neither "a jerk" nor misinformed.

Since you are a fairly new -- and young -- UConn fan, I will give you the benefit of the doubt... in regards to your Geno Auriemma.

Any coach who would sit in the stands behind the Stanford bench and urge the Stanford players to go for Candace Parker's badly-dislocated shoulder in the NCAA Championship game last year.... IS A JERK!

When ESPN asked Coach Pat Summitt if she was driving down the road and she saw Geno (and his car) broke down on the side of the road... would she offer him a ride... she responded that she would.

When ESPN approached Geno with the same scenario... if he was broke down on the side of the road and Coach Summitt came along and offered him a ride... would he accept the ride... Geno responded, "Naw... I'd rather walk!"

Trevor... THAT'S A JERK... plain and simple. He's earned that title on his own. I didn't put his foot in his big mouth. He did.

The ESPN commentators went on to say that Coach Summitt is a class act who almost always says the right things... and Geno is the fresh-mouthed punk who almost never says the right things.

While I'm glad that all of your experiences with Geno have been pleasant ones... that does not negate Geno's very public ill-behavior... It just doesn't... dearie.

Geno IS a jerk. He's brash... crass... lacks humility... and class.

Now, trevor... as I am accustomed to giving MY opinions on MY thread... it's puzzling -- to me -- why YOU would expect to find pleasantries about Geno Auriemma on a thread entitled "Nicky Anosike" -- a TENNESSEE Lady Vol from its back-to-back NCAA Championship teams in 2007 and 2008... when it's quite obvious that these two entities are fierce rivals. Hmmmm....

And the fact that Geno is nice to young UConn fans like you does not validate him as a nice person. Even a rat cares for its own.

No, trevor... Geno is what he is... a WINNER... and a jerk!

And as for Geno having the highest winning percentage in WOMEN'S collegiate basketball...

Talk to me in about 15 years when Geno hits the 30-year mark... like... uh... Coach Pat Summitt... the WINNINGEST coach in ALL of collegiate basketball -- men's and women's.

Make no mistake, deputy... Coach Summitt is still the Queen atop that hill. And no one is her equal.

no, you didnt come across that you were accusing him, i was just letting you know what he said and how he said it since you didnt see it for yourself. every coach i've seen, except for bill lambeer (lol) has more class than to put down any of their peers. geno and pat are the best two coaches in college and people who dis either one of them are just buying into the two teams rivalry, which i dont. i like and respect all teams, but if it comes to uconn and tenn playing together, im going to root for uconn every time.

I was hoping he didn't, trevor, and I hope it didn't come across like I was accusing him of doing so. I'm glad he didn't do that and if what he said is what you wrote, I have no problem with that. Thanks for the clarification.

Queens, Geno said nothing about TN in his remarks. He was complimenting his players for being the great team they are. He was commenting on his recruiting process by saying that he doesnt recruit players that he does not believe will be team players or who he does not believe has the desire to be great and want to win every game they play in.

Thats the way every coach recruits. He made no mention of TN and said that players want to come to play for Uconn because Uconn has a great tradition and they want to be a part of that and he said that uconns winning tradition doesn't faze his new players when they come, that they just come to be a part of it and want to play to win every game. He never made any remarks about Pat or TN or any other team so what the original poster of this thread said was just plain stupid and childish.

ive been watching uconn games on tv the past 3 years, every single game and i have seen geno whine to refs very very little. way less than every wnba coach and way less than pat summitt has the past 2 years. besides, why would he whine at all when he has the best team in the country winning games by over 30 points on average.

flyguy, everyone here is totally 'over' you. post again when you have something intelligent to say, otherwise go 'fly' a kite. i realize you just like to argue with people because you like to stir the pot, and im down with that, i like doing that too now and then, but please please, go back to posting intelligent things like you used to last year. i dont know if your getting senile or what it is but its really quite sad.

I doubt that I would see Pat Summit kick a dog, but if it would guarantee a win for her team she might ;) Honestly I've never met Geno, but I appreciate his skills as a recruiting coach. He doesn't seem to have the best personality while coaching, but I can't really comment on him otherwise. I have met Pat and I was shocked and appalled at how she treated her players. I realize that some people play better when they're told how horrible they are, but my gosh....I was embarrassed for them (and I wasn't the only one). Maybe it was a bad weekend for her, I don't know, but my opinion of her as a coach was slightly tarnished by the event.

I'm in left field? Your coach's name is Geno. To be fair, I haven't been to a UConn game since last year. I will attend two this weekend, unless something ridiculous happens against Cal. Every game I've been to, he's stomping around, whining and complaining. I've been to a lot of Rutgers games, yes and Vivian Stringer does make faces and get irritated with calls a lot, but she doesn't yell at the refs as often. She kind of just inquires and disagrees. I'd hardly call her a crybaby. Pat Summitt isn't as bad either. Geno is a very good coach and an excellent recruiter, but he's been irritating to watch over the years. Is it his old age this year, or the fact that his team is going to win anyway?

Yup. Like I said, you'd come on here and make excuses for Geno if he kicked your dog. You don't teach a kid to act that way. You'd never see Pat Summitt, Vivian Stringer or Andy Landers behaving that way.

Hey easy56... I see that you're your old cheery self. (lol)

But queens... I know you're trying to be a peacemaker... but you know the truth... about Geno Auriemma... and why Coach Pat Summitt ended their rivalry game. She was sick of Geno's public comments and behavior. Like she said, "I don't need this."

But I am pleased that trevor has "gracefully ended the subject"... especially since trevor's grasp of the topic is extremely limited and not substantiated by REALITY. (lol)

Geno did urge the Stanford bench to go after Candace Parker's badly-injured shoulder during last year's NCAA Championship game... to get Candace out of the game.

Never mind the countless times Geno has opened his mouth and inserted his foot.

He's one of those characters in the game that ronb711 alluded to. A character -- unfortunately -- who lacks character by most standards.

Geno is a jerk... a great coach... but a jerk. His unsavory exploits are well-documented. Geno's jerk tag is undisputed... by anyone who is in touch with REALITY.

So, let there be peace... but not based on a smooth-over... Let peace be based on the truth.

Yes deeo', that's truth. We won two battles.
But we didn't win THE WAR as yet. The ball is still in the game (play?).

Yes, no prisoners. Our players, our caches and our staff, they altogether think the same way: "Go ahead and never give up".

You were absolutely right, flyguy... Plenette Pierson did not play in today's second playoff game against Nicky Anosike and her KSSSE AZS PWSZ teammates.

Nicky's team won, 76-67.
live.plkk.pl/plkk/mecz.html?game_id=2479
js1.live.iskiereczka.pl/plkk_2479.html

This is like the second injury Plenette has had that has sidelined her since she arrived in Poland in January. I hope it's not serious. The Detroit Shock wouldn't be the same without her.

Just as CCC Polkowice is not the same without Plenette.

KSSSE AZS PWSZ won the battle of the boards today against CCC (34-29).

And welcome back, Anna Breitreiner (5 threes and 7 boards).

Nicky had 11 points, 8 boards and 1 assist... despite her 4 fouls. But Lindsay Taylor was great coming off of the bench to back up Nicky in the center slot with 8 points and 5 boards.

Samantha Richards was sparkling at the point with 9 assists and only one turnover. Justyna Żurowska finally put her signature on the series with 21 points and 5 boards... And she didn't foul out of the game.

Bezet... our team is only one win away from the finals!

Are the people of Gorzów Wielkopolski ready for this?

That's the way you play the game... fight, fight, fight... concede nothing... and take no prisoners, my friend.

Indeed, Dee, Pierson did suffer a knee injury in the beginning of the 4th quarter. Word is her season in Poland is likely over. Not much is apparently known at this time and I haven't yet heard whether this will affect her into the summer.

Now, that's the way you play basketball in the playoffs!

You fight... and you fight some more!

Hot-diggety-dog, Bezet! We handled the moment! We handled our nerves... and we prevailed!

Nicky Anosike and her KSSSE AZS PWSZ teammates waltzed into CCC Polkowice's arena and stole their homecourt advantage.

It was a dogfight for the entire 40 minutes, but Gorzów Wielkopolski pawed and gnawed its way to a victory.

The game was ugly, but the victory was oh so sweet.
js1.live.iskiereczka.pl/plkk_2478.html
live.plkk.pl/plkk/mecz.html?game_id=2478

Now KSSSE AZS PWSZ has the homecourt advantage. And this is where their fans have to be the sixth man on the court, Bezet.

You guys have really got to come out to the home games in this series played in Gorzów Wielkopolski... yell and cheer... and push KSSSE AZS PWSZ over the top.

I hope that Coach Dariusz realized how CCC made Plenette Pierson play around the perimeter to pull Nicky out of the lane... and out of rebounding position. Plenette's first two shots were three-point attempts.

But I noticed that Plenette disappeared in the second half. Did she get injured?

Nicky finished with 12 points, 5 boards, 1 assist and 4 steals. A good day at the office, Big Nick.

Katarina Zohnova had a great offensive game with 24 points, but what happened to Anna Breitreiner? Is Anna still ill?

Justyna Żurowska had a good defensive game with 5 steals and 5 boards.

Again... CCC dominated the boards (40-22)... especially on the offensive boards (19-3).

We need to do a better job of getting into rebounding position and boxing out for a clear shot at the rebound.

We can't just continue to give CCC all of these second and third chances on offense that their offensive rebounding gives them. We have to limit their second chance shots.

But where we won this game is at the freethrow line.

Like I said, CCC is a poor freethrow-shooting team. Today, they shot BELOW their average (44%, 12-27).

Well, tomorrow is a new battle, Bezet.

So, we have to rest and hydrate tonight... and get ready to fight, fight, fight in game #2 tomorrow.

P.S. -- flyguy... I see you've got your hands full with this season's rookie class of bloggers. (lol) One of them has posted about 80 times in a couple of weeks. Heck, at that rate... they'll catch up with your 1,800 posts... by next Thursday. (lol) (lol) (lol)

No other people haven't. They have respectfully disagreed with me. But even so, people always did. Some people don't like my style. It doesn't take away that I know more than they do and more than you do about women's basketball.

He's one coach. He does whine all the time. Name another who whines incessantly and throws tantrums. Patty never does. She has raised her voice once after a call yelling, "you suck, Darryl" to the ref who everybody knows is the worst in the league. He was in the opposite corner of the court and the crowd was booing wildly and she knew she would not be heard. I've never seen any W coach whine like Laimbeer does. Tell me who else does.

That's motivation. Her players aren't children. If they played horribly, she should tell them. My HS used to have a coach that did that and her players were children. You'd know because she'd tell all the bench players to gather around the huddle of her and the players on the court when they sat in the chairs and clap as hard as they could so she could scream at them. They came back to win a lot of games after those timeouts.

Most WNBA coaches don't whine at all. And I'm sorry, but I know I watch far more WNBA ball than anybody anywhere. I attend more games too. I said he might be whining less this year because he's going to win anyway. In years past, in close games, all he did was whine. You're just biased, so you have a selective memory. It's perfectly underdstandable.

Yeah, it is sad. What's sad is that you think that you and one other CT fan are "everybody." I'm the same poster with the same style and nobody else has said a negative thing to me.
