Haven't heard that name in a while. She was really good at Tulsa. I thought she had a real shot at making a team, but it didn't work out for her I guess.

I had not realized until after the game and read an article on PLKK that Jillian Robbins did not play today for CCC-sprained ankle (as well as Pierson). The article said that the team released Pierson and she came home on Friday.

By the way, have you been keeping up with Ramla? They played a 4 game series with Ramat Hen and they are going to the finals.

Cash... I am so happy for the people of Gorzów Wielkopolski.

And I am so exhausted... from celebrating on no sleep. (We closed at 4 a.m. So, I stayed up until game tiime.)

What did I think about the game?

I think some of our players were going where they have never been before... and they were battling their nerves.

But they didn't disintegrate when the game got tight, cash. They fought back.

No one really plays great in playoff games anyway. It's just that some players just don't play as badly as others. They handle their nerves better.

Our players just have to get a good grip on their nerves and fight, fight, fight.

As for the game... KSSSE AZS PWSZ won the game on the boards (48-27). No contest.
js1.live.iskiereczka.pl/plkk_2477.html
live.plkk.pl/plkk/mecz.html?game_id=2480

Aside from the fact that CCC Polkowice shot below its average on the freethrow line (36%)... CCC just didn't have an answer for Lindsay Taylor's 6'8" height on offense.

"The Big Nasty" was fierce on the boards, however, leading all rebounders with 11 (4 of which were offensive) in 25 minutes of play. Being platooned in and out of the game with Lindsay, Nicky scored 6 points off of 5 touches... and blocked two shots.

All and all, it was a very good day, Big Money... a very good day.

Congratulations, Gorzów Wielkopolski!

VICTORY!!!! A sweep!! Now, on to the finals.

Tell me what you thought of the game today? We had 3 or 4 players that looked like they were having an off day...........There seemed to be a lot of turnovers and we didn't get as many steals as CCC. Not a lot of fouls today, that's always a plus.

Bezet, did you get to go to the game? Tell us about it if you did!

Hey, 5 jest najlepsza :)... I hear you selling wolf-cookies for Lotos, my friend. But Nicky and KSSSE AZS PWSZ are not buying. (lol)

We're not even thinking about Lotos right now.

The biggest mistake you can make is to get ahead of yourself.

No, my friend, we are living in the moment.

We have three games to win ONE... to make history... and to advance into the finals... where you and Lotos may or may not be there waiting.

And while you're baking them wolf-cookies, 5 jest najlepsza :)... remember... Anna Breitreiner (#5 is the best = 5 jest najlepsza) is on OUR team... Alana Beard and Monique Currie are on one of the losingest teams in the WNBA... and Nicky Anosike is cut from the same Tennessee fabric that Tamika Catchings is cut from.

So... that Lotos mountain doesn't seem too steep to climb from where I stand, 5 jest najlepsza :). But it's still too far in the distance for me to set my sights on.

After KSSSE AZS PWSZ finishes what is on its plate with CCC Polkowice... then try my appetite for some Lotos wolf-cookies... with alittle caramel and walnuts in 'em. Mmmmm... that would sound real tempting, my friend. (lol)

But we can't concentrate on the dessert before we finish the dinner that's on our plate.

So, I'll see you after dinner, 5 jest najlepsza :). (lol)

Hi everybody,
I went away for a few days on Sunday so I wasn't able to follow the basketball front, but oh it was so sweet to come back yesterday, switch on the computer and see TWO victories for Gorzów! Especially I can't believe what Katarina Zohnova did on Saturday. That girl came back not very fit after two months with a broken arm and yet managed to almost single-handedly lead her team to victory! And Lindsay Taylor, who had a really serious injury, was still able to come off the bench and contribute some vital points. Big cheers for those two!!!
I really want Gorzów to make it to the finals, in my opinion they have a great team who are terrific both as players and as people. And they deserve it more than CCC - over the season as a whole they have played much better, in spite of the hiccups at the end of February.
I was able to see both Gorzów and CCC in Gdynia this season against my beloved Lotos. Naturally, Lotos won both games, but they were completely different. Gorzów came out miles better than CCC. On March 5th, CCC gave up their game in Gdynia practically without a fight. They made some effort early in the third quarter but when Alana Beard shot a couple of 3-pointers at them they just gave up. But when Gorzów came to Gdynia on November 29th... boy, how they fought. It wasn't a pretty game, but it was a nailbiter for 35 minutes of the game. Every Gorzów player fought for every inch of the court and nearly carried away a win. At the very end of the game it was Lotos' skill that decided it: Monique Currie and the Croatian Emilia Podrug were just too good for Gorzów and sealed our win.
I hope that Gorzów will finish it off quickly and easily on Saturday and come to Gdynia for the final. I hope to see an electryfing final with lots of action and fighting on both sides. But my spymathy to Gorzów will end when the final begins on April 14th... sorry guys, but I won't let them beat my Lotos! :)
Of course, it's possible in theory that it'll be Wisla which makes it to the final. But to do that they'd have to win their next three matches, and Lotos is just too good. Last weekend they mashed Wisla in both games in Gdynia. Tamika Catchings and Alana Beard were really on fire, scoring point after point and grabbing some incredible rebounds. Gorzów will have a tough nut to crack with those two. And there are several really talented young Poles in Lotos - Paulina Pawlak, Marta Jujka and Oliwia Tomialowicz. They are real fighters and they made a large contribution to the two victories against Wisla. So Nicky and co. will have to really step up their game if they want to win!

Hey, cash... I saved the play-by-play for you and Bezet saved the photos for you for both games. They weren't very pretty games, but the victories were very sweet.

Big Money, we need this game on April 4th to complete the sweep. We can't get ahead of ourselves. We've managed to daze CCC Polkowice with two good punches. Now, we must deliver the knockout punch.

Cash... I have a real strong feeling that "The Big Nasty" will be in the house on April 4th.

Whenever Big Nick smells gold... get out of her way, Big Money... or pin your next-of-kin information on your jersey so that your bodily remains can be identified by the proper authorities! (lol)

DSL trouble again. That's what you get when you live in the stix. I have been w/o my computer all weekend (why does it happen on weekends when you can't get anything fixed?) and I didn't get to watch either game that was played.X-( But, we won so that makes the frustration a little bit better. What have I missed? Anything interesting?

What happens after we whoop some CCC backside in game 3?

Bezet... Cash... are you guys ready for this third playoff game against CCC Polkowice... in our arena?

There should be no more jitters. Those nervous feelings should now be replaced by a strong hunger and determination to go in for the KILL!

We know how to play the game. Now, we must tune EVERYTHING out... focus... and execute.

In the meantime... we must practice our freethrows... practice blocking out for rebounds... practice our zone defense... and practice knocking down our favorite shots.

CCC Polkowice is a proud team... and they will not go down without a fight.

We must be prepared to fight, fight and fight some more.

This will be a historic game for the fans of Gorzów Wielkopolski. And I am rooting for them.

Funny, deeo'. Love the rhymes. OK, I'll give you McCoughtry for the 4th pick. I'm not too worried about her attitude everyone is commenting on. I think the Lynx players would set her straight in a heartbeat. Did you read the interview with Coach Z on the Lynx website? He wants Seimone to take a leadership role on the team now. And the rest of it is pretty vague. lol He doesnt' want to give away any secrets, I guess he doesn't have the gall, ya'll. ;-)

Well, we'll find out in a little while who we get in the draft.

I haven't had a chance to see the last video that Bezet posted for us. I haven't had a quiet moment lately.

I don't think the Liberty should draft Vaughn at all. I'd be furious. But it all depends on who goes before they hit the clock.

Congratulations, Bezet! Welcome to the finals!

Were you able to get a ticket for the game before they sold out?

The video was great! The fans were AWESOME! They were loud... and proud. They even energized me. (lol)

Bezet, how many people had to watch the huge TV screen outside of the arena?

I hope that a larger arena is in their future... so that all of the faithful fans can attend the games.

But now, we must focus our attention on the finals... and Lotos.

We can defeat them... if we come to play.

We must steal their homecourt advantage by winning one of the first two games on their court.

We must... play some tenacious defense... box-out for good rebounding position and control the boards... and our key scorers are going to have to shake-off their nerves and come out knocking their shots down.

We have nothing to lose.

Cash... queens... flyguy... why can't I just have Angel McCoughtry for the 4th pick in the WNBA Draft? Huh? (lol)

And flyguy, whatever makes you think that your New York Liberty are going to draft Kia Vaughn? (lol) What would they do with her?

What confuses me about DeWanna Bonner is that everyone calls her a point guard... but she has less than 50 assists in 32 games. The only open man she's hitting on her team is herself. I'm not sold on her at all, y'all.

Call me crazy (and I am)... but I like the heck out of Vandy's Jennifer Risper. At 5'9", that kid is tough as nails... and played some small forward for Vanderbilt, too. She does all of the little things that her team needs to win. I like her toughness and her never-give-in attitude. She's a brick wall, y'all.

And Monique McLean from St. John's is another one of my favorites. Aside from being able to put the ball in the basket... Monique has a great disposition and an infectious smile. St. John's just never managed to put a team around her... but that young lady can play ball, y'all.

I like Briann January -- Candice Wiggins (The Sequel). I like her even better than Renee Montgomery at the point. Who wouldn't like 45% from the 3-point arc? She can shoot it from the mall, y'all. (lol)

And if I'm on Minnesota's WNBA Draft selection team... I'd be sending out some tryout invitations to Murray State's Amber Guffey (a real gym rat and natural shooter) and Ashley Hayes (a real scorer and strong rebounding guard)... and if she goes unpicked, Megan Frazee out of Liberty. Give 'em a call, y'all.

Watch out, now... you know I gotta say it. "That's all, y'all." (lol)

She's talented and athletic. This is a young team and Bonner will have no problem keeping up. Drafting Paris means you have to change your enitre outlook. Paris' picture will be posted online holding a Mystics jersey long before that.

Flyguy, I read in one of your other posts that you thought DeWanna would be a good fit for the Lynx. I was just wondering why you thought that? I like DeWanna, I got the opportunity to see Auburn's game opener and then their last game this year, and I watched all their games that were televised. She can make shots that you think "there is no way the ball is going in". She runs the floor well and is so-so on defense and has expanded her 3 point shooting, this year. But I worry about her size, she AIN'T going to get any bigger, she is what she is. lol. She did well in college, but this is the W.

Deeo, I like either DeWanna B, Marissa C, or Renee M for 4th. It really doesn't matter to me, just not Shavonte Z (ball hog and drama queen) nor Toliver. And what you said about Courtney Paris, I agree. Conditioning will be a big thing for her. I like her game, she has good hands and if she misses shots, she can create enough space to get her own misses. I wouldn't mind the Lynx getting her even.

Ramla lost today in the first of 3 finals match.

Lotos is going to be hard to beat. I hope that Dariusz is coming up with a great game plan. Has Gorzow beat them this year?

If Vaughn is still there after the Liberty pick, I think the Lynx should grab her.

2007. She was a really good rebounder and scorer.

The Mystics invited her to camp, but kept such scrubs on their team as Gillian Goring over her.

Minnesota could be looking to take Dewanna Bonner with the 4th pick. If I had to bet money, that's where I'd put it.

Triple team her. Or play some kind of zone and focus all the help defense on her. But with Beard out there on the perimeter with her, that's tough. Beard might crack a bit under defensive pressure, but she WILL kill you if you let her. Who do they have in the post? You might have to win there, but without Pierson? I don't know.

Even if you couldn't be in Gorzów on the fourth April, you can watch a game and you can feel emotions, so as we felt being in the hall that great day.

A video magazine "A-Zet-eS" about last game in Gorzów (04 April 2009; AZS Gorzów - CCC Polkowice 68:52) is here:

Hey, cash... Hey, flyguy... I've finally recovered from the weekend. Now, I have to get ready for Easter and my sister's birthday on Sunday. My work is never done. (lol)

I read the same article that you read, Big Money, about the Americans getting injured for CCC Polkowice... right before the third playoff game. Tough luck, huh?

And flyguy, how do you know about Jillian Robbins? What year did she come out of Tulsa? I don't recall her.

And cash, LaToya Pringle plays for Ramat Hen. So, if Elitzur Ramla eliminated Ramat Hen, that means that LaToya can come on back to the states and get a little R&R (rest and relaxation) before training camp begins for the MiniLynx.

So, who do you think we'll get with the #4 pick in the WNBA Draft Thursday?

I think Oklahoma's Courtney Parish's stock kinda dropped after seeing her in the Final Four. Conditioning is going to be a real BIG issue with whichever team drafts her. She was dogging it out there... even with being taken out of the game every 3 or 4 minutes for a blow.

Man, I really like Louisville's Angel McCoughtry. But she definitely won't be around for the 4th pick. Her stock has risen even higher in the Final Four... even though she really hasn't had a great offensive game in the NCAA tournament... yet.

But I sure wouldn't shed any tears if Minnesota shags Maryland's Marissa Coleman. Her teammate Kristi Toliver is alittle too passive for me and is easily knocked off of her game. Marissa is a self-motivator who can flat-out score.

I like Renee Montgomery, too. But fat chance she'll be around for the 4th pick. (lol)

And cash, now that KSSSE AZS PWSZ is in the finals, we've got to figure out what to do with Lotos.

Alana Beard is easy. Make her play defense. Stay up in her grill... and limit her touches. She takes crazy shots under pressure... or simply throws the ball away. Alana averaged about 5 or 6 turnovers a game in the WNBA last year.

Now, Tamika Catchings is a different story.

Flyguy, how would you play against Tamika?

I know that she will try to fight over a box-out under the boards. Good, solid box-outs on her could cause her to get into alittle foul trouble. But she's a pest in the passing lanes. We're just going to have to know where she's at at all times.

Tamika will be guarding our leading scorer, so whichever player that is is going to have to keep Tamika busy... running her off of picks and away from the ball movement and the passing lanes.

We have to win 4 games against Lotos. And I think that we can do it!

But this is going to take some real smart preparation.

Yes deeo', you're the right. And we (Gorzów) gonna have 4 babies (leaving Lotos Gdynia with 0 babies ...... o.k. o.k. - let them have 1 or 2, NOT MORE ! :-D)

EuroCup?
Deeo' what are you talking about? We were twice in EuroCup (2007 and 2008).

Now we are fighting for EuroLeague !!!

The winner of playoff PLKK automaticlly plays in EuroLeague. EuroLeague is a higer level than EuroCup. EuroLeague is the highest level of European Women Basketball Tournament.

Bezet... did you see my message to you at the end of my last post?

Thanks for the link to Nicky's interview. I always wonder why she is not interviewed after some games. It was just nice to hear her voice.

Anna Breitreiner stated in her interview that she thought that her team had a "small" chance to win. Well, that chance will enlarge itself if SHE believes in her team more... and in the other team less.

When the finals begin Tuesday, the slates for both teams will be wiped clean. And their entire seasons will be defined by the best-four-out-of-seven games.

The pressure to qualify for EuroCup next year is off of our players' shoulders. They're in!

The pleasure of sitting atop of Poland's basketball elite is theirs... if they play the way we all know that they can... and if they believe... in themselves and in their team.

That's the difference between saying "I would like to win" and "I'm going to win!"

To say that you would like to win... implies that you have no control or say-so in the matter.

To say that you're going to win... shows your belief, conviction and confidence that you can go out there and make it happen.

Don't give Lotos any admiration or credit... until they EARN it... on the court... in the finals!

Otherwise...our chances are just as good as theirs.

Oh, Bezet... please assist me with ordering a Nicky Anosike #21 replica jersey from KSSSEAZS PWSZ. Thanks to my friends in the Gorzów forum, I know that it costs 120 zl or $40. How can I order this online?

So, flyguy, you're alright with New York selecting Kia Vaughn with their first pick?

I like the idea of Kia in New York... if she is aggressive and not passive. She has a tendency to fade in and out.

And as for New York's second pick, Abby Waner, being the latest edition of Microsoft's Becky Hammon 5.0...

> She's a better shooter than Hammon, but doesn't drive.
> They're not that similar. Are you just comparing them
> because they're white guards? It's okay with me, I'm just
> asking.

...it's true that Rebecca and Abigail are two white sisters. (lol) But I was referring to their Rocky-Mountain-high Colorado connection... their girl-nextdoor personas... and how New York was the real launching pad for Becky Hammon -- just as it will be for Abby Waner. And have you seen Abby? They favor each other.

> With Abby Waner, I want Spring Break in Cancun. I just
> hope to meet her before she gets cut.

(lol)
Don't pack for Cancun too soon, flyguy. No one will be more determined to make the Liberty team than Miss Abigail. She's no pushover. She's a tough cookie... just like... Becky Hammon... just taller.

I think Becky was who New York was thinking of when they selected Abby... same software ...different edition. (lol)

As for Rashanda McCants... I'll trade you... Kia for Rashanda.

Naaah... I'd have to get you drunk first for that to sound like a fair trade, flyguy. (lol)

Sooooo... what you drinking, fella? (lol) (lol) (lol)

But believe me when I say that McCants' selection had something to do with her brother and his connections in the Timberwolves' front office... just as Emily Fox's selection was in allegiance to the University Minnesota.

That's just the way they do business... which is okay... if their good intentions don't backfire and hurt the team.

But all too often, their good intentions turn into the shoes that you paid too much for... that you're too proud to admit do not fit... and that absolutely kill your feet when you try to wear them.

But with or without our last two or three picks, I think that the Minnesota Lynx are gonna have a heck of a team... especially with a real heady point guard like Renee Montgomery... Seimone Augustus... and last year's rookie class (Nicky Anosike, Charde Houston, Candice Wiggins AND LaToya Pringle) finding their games and flourishing overseas.

My only true concern is the coaching...

Do you know if they have a coaches draft somewhere? (lol)

And Bezet... winning games and championships is just like birthing a baby.

You may not be the one actually having the baby... but you're there in the delivery room encouraging the mama-to-be to "push"... "push harder"... "C'mon, one last puuuush!"

And in the end... that baby (victory) belongs to you, too.

Like I told all of the fans in Gorzów Wielkopolski, the fans have to work in the stands as the players do on the court... to give their team the advantage... a sixth man on the court.

I'm looking forward to the finals against Lotos. And I'm rooting for more celebrations in our very near future.

Thanks for congratulations, deeo'. But I think congrats should be destinated for our team, not for me. I'm not worth (of) it.
I had no problem to watch the game in the hall. Before the season began, I bought a ticket for all games of 2008/2009 season being played in our hall.

> Bezet, how many people had to watch the huge TV
> screen outside of the arena?
Honestly, I have no idea; I came in the hall one and half an hour before the game started, so I didn't see what is going on out.

Our team is training twice today. Tomorrow is a free day. On Monday morning they go to the hall and then they're leaving to Gdynia,

As someone said, we CAN win, but Gdynia MUST win. That is our chance.

I know this wasn't for me, but I was in the room yesterday and when Hollingsworth name was called, a hush fell over the crowd. I started to clap for a second a realized nobody else did. Of course, it didn't take long for them to figure out they were supposed to clap anyway.

> And reuniting Rashanda McCants with LaToya Pringle at

He probably could have gotten Hollingsworth where he took McCants and could have had Chante Black at 9. The 9th pick was wasted. Not because she isn't good, but because he could have had her anyway and probably done something creative at 9.

He plays for Sacramento now.

They can still have her. Why the hell would you pick her at 15? There's a reason she didn't get drafted.

She's not good either.

Maybe Littles or Paris, but I like McCants. She could surprise you. She had a tough year, but she's been pretty good. Wirth and Bingham aren't even close

Don't worry about this pick. There was nobody left and she'll be a side show at an exhibition game. That's it. Then she'll be sitting home.

> > I don't think the Liberty should draft Vaughn at

I knew they'd pick her. I hoped SHE went before they hit the clock. I was trying to be optimistic.

> Well... Rutgers' Kia Vaughn is New-York-bound...
> along with Duke's Abby Waner (the latest edition of
> Microsoft's Becky Hammon 5.0).

She's a better shooter than Hammon, but doesn't drive. They're not that similar. Are you just comparing them because they're white guards? It's okay with me, I'm just asking.

> What does this do for the Liberty, flyguy?

Nothing. Unless Kia Vaughn is as good as they told me she'll be. I'll have to see it to believe it. These are people I know and respect, but if Vaughn doesn't pan out and Zellous does, they should all be fired.

> Who did you want with New York's two picks?

With Kia Vaughn, I want it to work out like I've been lead to believe it will and I want her to make a very strong impact right away. With Abby Waner, I want Spring Break in Cancun. I just hope to meet her before she gets cut.

Indeed, you were right, 5 jest najlepsza :)!

It's your Lotos and my Gorzów in the finals. And while your mind may be focused on Lotos, my friend... your name tells me that your heart belongs to Gorzów. (lol)

So, let the fireworks begin!

And since you're going to the game on Tuesday (April 14th) and will be seeing Nicky Anoiske for the first time... I hope that she and Anna Breitreiner do not disappoint you. I hope they win! (lol)

I'll agree that Lotos is a hard egg to crack... But I believe that Lotos... just like Humpty-Dumpty in the old nursery rhyme... will fall... and crumble into pieces. (lol)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humpty_Dumpty
[It's our Easter holiday... I had to work eggs into the conversation some kind of way. (lol)]

The key to Lotos is Tamika Catchings. If we can contain her... we'll contain Lotos.

We could never completely stop Tamika in every facet of her game. But we can keep her out of the passing lanes and box her out under the boards... this will limit her steals and rebounds. That's where she tends to generate a lot of her offense... off of put-backs and steals

To keep her out of the passing lanes, we'll just run our offense away from her on the opposite side of the floor. If the ball is not near her... she can't steal it.

To keep her off of the boards, whichever player(s) defending her will have to concentrate solely on her. Face her and deny her touches... then turn around and box her off of the boards.

And if that doesn't work...

We'll have to resort to Plan B... Wrap her in cellophane paper and stuff her under the bleachers... until the game is over. (lol)

Alana Beard is what we call a "hotdog"... with mustard. (lol)

If you guard her too tight, she'll do crazy things. And if things don't go her way... Alana will get real pouty.

So, the plan to contain Alana is to guard her tight... don't allow any set shots... make her shoot on the run... and keep her frustrated.

Now... on our side of the ball... we need Anna Breitreiner to swallow her nerves and play the game the way everyone knows she can play it. We need 15-20 points and 7 boards from Anna.

We need our youngest and quickest players to guard Tamika like they're guarding a pot a gold... stay on her... everywhere she goes... even to her bench during timeouts. (lol)

We need Nicky Anosike to introduce Lotos to "The Big Nasty"... to aggress with finesse... to dictate and dominate in the lane. Win the battle on the boards.

Then, my friend... Lotos just might find itself on the outside looking in.

Well, Deeo'Rumpshaker... I told you Lotos and Gorzów would win the semi-finals, didn't I? And so they did! I'm ever so happy, it's the final I was dreaming of :)
I'm going to the game on Tuesday and hope to see a good win by Lotos... sorry, but my support for Gorzów is finished now ;) Of course, I hope to see plenty of spirit from them, and I'd have nothing against the final going to a 7th game - it would provide more excitement and give Gorzów yet more cause to be happy after an extremely successful season. I'm excited because on Tuesday I will see Nicky for the first time... boy, I'm really looking forward to that! And it'll be lovely to see my beloved Breitreiner again :)
But ultimately I have no doubt that Lotos should win... we've been missing the crown here in Gdynia for 3 seasons, each time it's been snatched from us by Wisla when it should have been ours by right. By the way, did you guys see the shot with which Anna De Forge took the title away from Lotos last season? That was unbelievable!!! Here's a link to it:
www.youtube.com/watch?gl=PL&hl=pl&v=ZUqAAhTxDxw
Although I'd rather Gorzów didn't win the championship this year, I would really like them to do well in the coming seasons. Gorzów-Lotos could make an extremely exciting pair leading the Polish table for the coming years. Gorzów will have EuroLeague next year which should be a huge boost for the club. If they have any sense they will keep most of this year's team (above all Nicky and Anne :) ). The team is very good, they have excellent chemistry and I think that if they keep this lot they could have a terrific time next year.
Hope you guys all have a very happy Easter! Unfortunately the girls from Lotos and Gorzów will have a rather busy Easter, but I hope theirs will be happy too :)

Well, Big Money... we didn't get an Angel (McCoughtry) or even a Marissa (Coleman)... But we did get a Renee (Montgomery).

Nicky Anosike is going to be so happy!

But tell me, cash... why Minnesota selected Quanitra Hollingsworth... aside from her being 6'5".

And reuniting Rashanda McCants with LaToya Pringle at Minnesota will be like watching a sword fight under the boards... with all of those sharp knees and elbows flying everywhere. (lol)

But I don't know, cash... I really didn't care for Rashanda's numbers... I think maybe big brother Rashad may have used alittle of his influence in the Minnesota Timberwolves front office to snag this selection for Rashanda.

There was just too much beef left on the table by the 15th pick for Minnesota to opt for Rashanda.

There was St. John's Monique McLean... 40% from the 3-point arc, 84% from the freethrow line, averaging 17 points and 7 rebounds per game...

Baylor's Jennifer Risper... 6 rebounds, 3 assists and almost 3 steals per game... playing guard and small forward... AT 5'9"!... not to mention shooting nearly 50% from the field and 74% from the line.

Then there was Virginia's Lyndra Littles (averaging 20 and 7, shooting 44% from three), Oklahoma's Ashley Paris, Vanderbilt's Christina Wirth or even Louisville's Candyce Bingham.

And as if that wasn't enough to give me a migraine...

I just knew... I just knew... that Minnesota was going to waste their last pick on Emily Fox out of the University of Minnesota.

I just knew it!

Does anyone have an aspirin?

I just knew it, Big Money!

Emily... I'm sure... is a beautiful young lady... but she's not even a hometown product. She's from Colorado!

She's a 5'9" guard who is... awful from the field (38%)... weak at the freethrow line (69%)... below average from behind the 3-point arc (32%)... and who only averaged 3 rebounds and 3 assists per game in her senior year at Minnesota.

Dang! Didn't we just finish cleaning out the garage? Why are we filling it back up?

> I don't think the Liberty should draft Vaughn at all. I'd be

Flyguy... are you alright?

Well... Rutgers' Kia Vaughn is New-York-bound... along with Duke's Abby Waner (the latest edition of Microsoft's Becky Hammon 5.0).

What does this do for the Liberty, flyguy?

Who did you want with New York's two picks?

Look at my mock draft and Nancy Lieberman's. That should give you some insight as to how this will play out. Unless a trade or something changes things. McCoughtry is extremely likely to fall to the Lynx at this point. I will love the Lynx even more should this happen. Especially if you get Paris too.

Renee Montgomery was not my top pick for the Lynx it was Bonner, charde Houston stated how long La was, they're big.
bonner played against Tennessee all the time down in the sec, and played well against them, so she can play. I wanted Bonner and Hollingsworth, or Kia vaughn with the 9th pick. I couldn't sleep for 3 days after the mongomery pick. Renee, is tremendous, don't get me wrong, but why not a hard to guard 6'4 guard, Wiggins can do the same thing as Montogemery, can. I watch North Carolina all the time, Mccants is very athletic, I don't know why you have never seen her play, a defensive demon. Hollingsworth, played very good against North Carolina, had 20 points, also on the USA team, second team

Hi, ninti9. I hear what you're saying... and I definitely don't want to be a slave to the media. So, please tell me what you like about the Lynx's last three picks in the 2009 WNBA Draft.

My stance, ninti9, is that there are only 11 spots on the Lynx team... and there are about 16 active players on their roster.

So... who do you gamble on keeping... and suiting-up?

Your franchise players like Nicky Anosike, Charde Houston, Seimone Augustus, Candice Wiggins?

Your veterans like LaToya Pringle, LaToya Thomas, Anna DeForge, Roneeka Hodges, Noelle Quinn and Navonda Moore who have been posting impressive numbers overseas in the so-called WNBA winter leagues?

Your top 2009 WNBA Draft pick Renee Montgomery?

The not-so-stellar performers like Christi Thomas and Kelly Miller who you picked up during the off-season?

Or the unknown... your last three picks in the 2009 WNBA Draft?

I don't want to discount anyone... unfairly.

But I do want the BEST 11 proven players to be on our team this year.

If the Lynx want to keep these kids around... make them greeters or put them on the telephone to sell season tickets packages... until they earn their wings.

But don't suit them up and put them on the floor if they're not better than the players you already have.

You know, ninti9... there's really nothing wrong with trying to win more games than you lose. And that's something that we need to try real hard to do this year... real hard.

And cash... I'm sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. But I was grieving... over my tax returns. (lol) The new no-smoking laws here have really cut into our businesses. And I'm not a smoker! It's just that bars and smoking kinda go hand-in-hand. Then you pile on all of the expenses to repair damages to my buildings caused by Hurricane Ike, an icestorm and a couple of crazy windstorms... and jeepers... I need one of President Barack Obama's "Bailouts", a "Stimulus Package"... and a cigarette. (lol) (lol) (lol)

Bezet... I haven't had a chance to e-mail KSSSE AZS PWSZ, as of yet. You caused me to pause on the idea when you said that it was against the club's rules. I don't want to appear arrogant or imposing. I'm just a fan... who wants this very special Nicky Anosike keepsake.

I do not want to upend their policies... but I do want a Nicky Anosike jersey. Bezet, what should I do? (lol)

Oh, Bezet... what great news to read this morning! I am so excited that you inquired on my behalf about purchasing a Nicky Anosike KSSSE AZS PWSZ replica jersey!

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, BEZET!

I will e-mail the club immediately.

You are a great negotiator. We need you here in America... in Congress. (lol)

But on a solemn note... the tragedies in Kamieniu Pomorskim were the result of a fire? Oh, my... oh, my... Bezet, my prayers are with the people in this town.

Cash... let me take a closer look at the other new players on the Lynx roster... to see what you're talking about. But I doubt if I'll change my mind.

Gotta run. I'll write more later.

Deeo', regarding your questions:

> Bezet... what happened in Kamieniu Pomorskim?

There was a fire of habitable building.

> Bezet... please accept my apology on the EuroCup and EuroLeague confusion. This is my first year following a WNBA player overseas... and I'm still not completely sure of what the cherry on the top is. We don't have Cups here... just championships.
> So, please explain to me how it goes... and what the ultimate goal is... and when it takes place... so that I can absorb it like a sponge... and retain and understand it.

A FIBA Europe teams-ranking decides how many teams from each country can take part in the EuroLeague and how many – in EuroCup. The winner of each national league always can take part in EuroLeague (I’m not sure whether second team is guaranteed to take part in EuroLeague).
More you can read here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EuroLeague_Women
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EuroCup_Women

> Oh, Bezet... please assist me with ordering a Nicky Anosike #21 replica jersey from KSSSEAZS PWSZ. Thanks to my friends in the Gorzów forum, I know that it costs 120 zl or $40. How can I order this online?

I’ve just come back from the club. I talked to PaweÅ‚ KozÅ‚owski about your request. He told me that they don’t sell players’ jersays; it’s a rule.
So I told him that you are a very, very big fan of Nicky and – nowadays – a big fan of our team. And then he said, you should send an e-mail to the club (azs@pwsz.pl) and they’ll try to help you.

P.S. The jersays (game jersays) are white or dark blue.

You're right, deeo', we were very fortunate to have missed the worst of the storms. You were on the highway? Why were you out in weather like that? Were you stranded?

I don't know, deeo', I like some of the Lynx draft picks. I had never heard of Hollingsworth and still haven't seen her play, but I think she could be a pleasant surprise. The Lynx need her size, they don't have Ohlde or Hayden-Johnson anymore. Did you listen to Coach Z's pressers on the Lynx website? I think he actually went to the NCAA tournament to watch her play. Here's an article about her:

www.nj.com/rutgerswomen/index.ssf/2009/03/vcus_quanitra_hollingsworth...

Let's not throw her to the curb just yet. Rashanda McCants shows flashes of greatness, the Lynx need her to be consistent night in and night out. Coach Z likes her because she is defensive minded and rebounds. They also need her to be an offensive threat. I thought she had a better year last year than this year. I don't know that for a fact, haven't checked the stats to see if that is true, it just seems that way to me.

Anyway, they will have to decide who to keep and who not to keep soon.

Donna Orender went to game 2 between Ramla and Ramat Hasharon (see photos of the game). Ramla won game 2, so it is now 1-1. Game 3 is tomorrow.

I'm ready for the finals in Poland, can't wait until Saturday. I hope Gorzow takes their A game with them on the trip to Gydnia.

The story about your dog is so funny. Hair club for men.....too much!!! Our dog, Roxie is doing well, fat and sassy. lol

Bezet... what happened in Kamieniu Pomorskim?

I read where dozens of people died there. But what happened to them? Was it a natural disaster (weather, earthquake, etc)? Or was it an accident (train derailment, etc.)?

My heart goes out to the families and friends of the victims of this tragedy.

It is a good thing that your President called for a 3-day mourning period in the face of this tragedy.

In America... if our President decrees a national period of mourning... the American flag is lowered to half-mast... and a moment of silence is observed before sporting events and major gatherings.

But I believe the delay in the Polish finals will bother Lotos more than it will bother KSSSE AZS PWSZ... I hope.

KSSSE AZS PWSZ has never been to the finals before... so, they didn't even know what to expect. They had no expectations.

On the other hand, Lotos has been to the finals before... and the delay probably threw their finals routine out of whack... I hope.

Cash... the same storm that hit you passed through here Monday, as well. I was caught on the highway... with cars being blown off of the road... hail... a driving rain... strong winds... lightning... thunder... I'm just glad that your DSL is all that you lost, Big Money.

Fulda Rock On... I'm really excited about the Minnesota Lynx this season.

But with Nicky Anosike, Charde Houston, Seimone Augustus, Candice Wiggins, LaToya Pringle, Renee Montgomery... and LaToya Thomas, Roneeka Hodges, Anna DeForge, Noelle Quinn and Navonda Moore sitting on the bubble... you can take Kelly Miller, Christi Thomas and the other three 2009 WNBA Draft picks and pitch 'em in the Chippewa River... for all I care.

The nucleus for an explosive playoff team is in place.

Minnesota fans need not concern themselves with who is on the floor for the Lynx... but rather who is on the sidelines for the Lynx.

My biggest concern is the coaching.

Coach Don Zierden can't sleepwalk through this season (like he did the last season) and then suddenly wake up and decide he wants to make the playoffs with 9 or 10 games left in the season.

Julie Plank is not there to keep the ship afloat while Coach Z is catching some z's. And Jennifer Gillom can only do so much... considering that our new junior assistant coach, Jim Petersen, will be available for the team only when his sportscasting job doesn't need him.

Geez... I was thinking that... maybe we can get Mary J. Blige or Justin Timberlake to sit in for Jim... inbetween concerts... or... Dale Earnhardt, Jr. or Tony Stewart... inbetween races... or... Tiger Woods or Serena Williams... inbetween tournaments.

Hmmm... that sounds like a plan. (lol)

Cash... if our team wasn't so good... I'd be pulling my hair out right about now. (lol)

Speaking of hair, Big Money... Pappeno (the little mixed-breed I rescued from the dog pound) is growing hair... all over. He looks like he joined the Hair Club for Men. I thought that he was a chihuahua. It shocked me so bad that I took him to the vet. It turns out that he has high blood pressure and was bald because he was stressed out. Now that he's got a home (and is off of death row), he's less stressed and he's growing hair... everywhere. I don't know what the heck he is now, cash... Benji or the Taco Bell dog. (lol) (lol) (lol) He's absolutely the ugliest, hairiest thang that you ever did see. He looks like Flav-O-Flav with a body-weave. (lol) How's your pooches?

libertysbiggestfan... now, I'm yourbiggestfan! (lol) Where have you been? I've sure missed you.

Can you believe how "The Big Nasty" is doing overseas... in Poland and Israel?

That's my Nicky!

Oh, my... Bezet... 4 babies?! Wow! That would be a lot of diapers... and early morning feedings. But I'm ready! Let the pushing begin!

Bezet... please accept my apology on the EuroCup and EuroLeague confusion.

Oooooooo... and I can't wait to get my Nicky Anosike jersey!

Thanks for your help, Bezet.

It's a different game in the playoffs. San Antonio is a better team than the Lynx and you'd have seen it if they ever played a game that mattered. The problem was San Antonio had no perimeter defense and couldn't stop Augustus. It's more physical in the playoffs and they'd be able to do some different things. I believe San Antonio would get them though.

A step up for the Lynx is to make the playoffs this year. How for they go depends on experience and belief in themselves and their ability to defy odds.
"
But I disagree with the "San Antonio factor". The San Antonio Silver Stars never had dominance over the Lynx. The Lynx dominating the Silver Stars last year as well as prior years. Do research and read the stats.

San Antonio was lucky that the Lynx didn't make the playoffs last year or they(Silver Stars) would have been knocked out the playoffs much earlier.

Detroit made it look easy. The Lynx ( who has the silver stars's number)would have done likewise.

Two factors kept the lynx out of the playoffs: lack of rebounding and poor coaching. I believe that they have solved one of these problems. Nicky don't have to carry the burden of rebounding by herself.

As far as the west is concerned, the two strongest teams will be L.A. and what ever team LJ decides to sign with. The rest in the west has no better chance than the Lynx at making the playoffs. Just watch and see what I tell you.

No way will the Lynx contend for a championship this year. NO WAY. I told you how last season would unfold and I was right. Now, I'm here to tell you that, no, the Lynx do not have the experience, or the depth, to content for a championship. Teams like San Antonio and LA are going to eat them alive. PHX might be better. Sacramento if DeMya Walker and Brunson stay healthy. Seattle if LJ goes there. The Lynx will have a tough time making the playoffs. They might make the playoffs, but it won't be easy. And they won't get out of the first round. You can respond to this post anyway you want, but that's how it's going to go down.

In response to deeo'rumpshaker-convincing argument...I hope you're right.

The the McCants factor is a different story. I do believe she will make the team. Last year it was doubtful that Charda Houston would make the team due to her inconsistency in college. But she made it. Surprise! Therefore the college game isn't always an indicator of a player's potential in the pros.

Also, I don't see the lynx keeping any of these players:

1.Noelle Quinn,
2.Roneeka Hodges
3.Emily Fox
5.Novonda Moore

These are all guards, not forwards. They will compete for Anna Deforge's job. I don't believe they will beat her out. McCants ,who is a small forward, will be used to back up Augustus, who is a small forward.

Last year after the regular season ended. The Lynx organization stated that none of the players except the core unit (Augustus, wiggins, Niki, and Houston and maybe Deforge) will be back in 2009. Also and recently, Coach Z. stated that players who played last year(Noelle Quinn, Novonda Mooore), and players taking in Despersal Draft(Roneeka Hodges) will likely be cut from the team. To get a better idea, Listen to the Coach Z''s post draft conference.

To repeat myself, it was started last year that Moore and Quinn would not be back in 2009. Hodges and Fox are not small forwards so they cannot back up Augustus. They must compete for a guard spot. They would have to beat out Deforge, because Miller, Wiggins, and Renee are locks.

The only way McCants ( who was one of the fifteen draftees invited to the draft) don't make the team is that the organization would have to invite another small forward (unlikely) into training camp to compete for the job. To do this, they will have to waive someone before Training camp begins because the roster is now at 15-the limit for training camp this year.

Here is how I see the Lynx's roster:

PG-Miller and Montgomery
SG-Wiggins and Deforge
SF-Augustus and McCants
PF-Thomas/Houston
C-Anosike/Pringles/Hollingsworth

This is my case for McCants.

Bezet... does this mean that KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski will be in the EuroLeague playoffs next year? When will you know for sure? If we win the championship in Poland, are we guaranteed one of the 24 spots in EuroLeague?

I sent the e-mail to the club today. Thanks again for going to the club on behalf. I have my fingers crossed... hoping that they grant my request.

Hey, Istevie... you're okay with me, my friend.

But I have only ONE word for you regarding your assertion that the Lynx lack the experience to contend for a WNBA Championship this year: B........ Naaah, I don't want to be censored...

Naw, I'm going to say it anyway...

BALONEY! (lol)

You can downgrade the overseas leagues all you want, Istevie... but that has been the ONLY place that our young Lynx players have been afforded the opportunity to play... to define their games... to hone their skills... and to boost their confidence in their abilities... in competition.

Overseas... Charde Houston didn't have to come off of the bench and fight for playing time.

She was allowed to run her game... full throttle... to see what she's capable of doing. And she's capable of doing a lot, Istevie... a lot more than she was given the opportunity to do for the Lynx in the WNBA in her rookie season. And not because she wasn't capable of performing well in the WNBA... but because of the awful decisions made on the Lynx sidelines... by a coach that didn't quite know how to use her.

Overseas... Nicky Anosike finally got the chance to be the first option in the offense... the go-to-man... the primary scorer.

This is invaluable experience that has opened up her offensive weaponry... to complement her defensive bag of tricks. Now, when Nicky gets the ball... she looks to score. That locks and loads yet another offensive weapon for the Lynx this season.

Overseas... LaToya Pringle exploded to become not only a monster rebounder, but a monster scorer, as well.

So, you can downplay the overseas leagues, Istevie. But they serve their purposes... and they return some well-polished WNBA stars back to the states... ready to hit the ground running.

Yes... overseas, the arenas are smaller... but the fans are no less excited and passionate about their teams.

And yes... overseas, the leagues may have alittle less experience with WNBA-quality basketball... but the players and coaches are no less committed to competing well and winning championships.

In overseas play... the court is no different...

The ball is no different...

The basket is not some peach basket mounted to the side of the building...

The pressure is no different...

And the desire to win is the same.

The only thing that's different overseas are the names on the fronts of these ladies' jerseys.

So, stop short-changing the overseas leagues... and start giving them their due for what they do do. (lol... Wait a minute... that didn't come out right... But you know what I mean. lol)

While it is evident that you have really invested your time and attention to off-season player movement and blog chatter, Istevie... it is equally apparent that your basketball logic is badly distorted... when it comes to the Minnesota Lynx.

A "lack of experience" will not keep the Lynx out of the WNBA finals this year... but poor coaching will.

It was poor coaching... not rebounding that derailed the Lynx last season.

Listen and learn, my friend.

Your Connecticut Sun was the first team that the Lynx defeated last year in the pre-season... by 11 points. Rebounding didn't seem to be a problem then.

They went on to defeat the Indiana Fever by 14 points... before losing to L.A.... by ONE point.

The Lynx went on to win their first 5 games of the regular season quite handily... before losing to Connecticut... by ONE point.

Then they smashed San Antonio by 12 points... before they hit a 5-game losing streak... losing by 9 points to the Sun... 4 points to Sacramento... ONE point to New York... 5 points to Detroit... and 7 points to Houston.

There were no less than 7 games that Coach Zierden cost the Lynx last season due to ineffective instructions or NO instructions at all to his players on the court.

These were games where the Lynx had the final possession with ample time to score... and pull out a victory. These were the kinds of games that good coaches win.

Games like the one against Chicago... when Coach Z NEVER called a timeout while his team was losing a huge lead in the waning minutes of the game... only to call a timeout in the final seconds to rescue Chicago from his own team's backcourt pressure.

And who could ever forget the game that the Lynx had in the bag (up by 9 points with 30 seconds to go) against Detroit in Detroit... only to allow Detroit to extend the game with fouls and win in overtime.

So, if you're going to write a prescription for the Lynx, Istevie, make sure your diagnosis is correct.

The fact is that the Lynx finished in the upper half of the league in rebounding. But that's not what spurred their winning streak, anyway.

If you will recall, Istevie, the Lynx were leading the league in forcing turnovers. They were knocking their opponents back on their heels with takeaways... and scoring most of their points in transition. That was Plan A.

But when Plan A didn't work... there was no Plan B.

Their halfcourt offense was stagnant... anemic. They struggled to score in a halfcourt set.

So, stand corrected, Istevie.

The Lynx will contend for the WNBA title... this year.

Poor coaching was the difference between a 23-11 season last year and the 16-18 season that the Lynx ended the season with.

And the only "surprise" Rashanda McCants will produce this year is if she makes the team.

But don't get me wrong... I'm a MiniLynx kitty-cat through and through...

I want the best players to make the team... because I don't just want to contend... I want to win!

Well, it's gameday, cash. The first game in the finals is at 10 a.m. ET. today.

I sure hope that "The Big Nasty" is in the house tonight.

In response to deeo'rumpshaker-the lynx will keep the three draft picks. In fact, Didn't you read last year that the LaToya Thomas, Navonda Moore, Noelle Quinn wasn't expected to be on the lynx roster this season.

Roneeka Hodges will be waived as well. Anna Deforge just might stay if she isn't traded for a more consistant scorer behind wiggins.

Reshanda McCants will suprise this year. Wiggins and Renee have a magical way of making the players around them look great.

Moreover, don't put too much trust in overseas games. It is not the same game. The wnba is more physical and competative than overseas games.

If Novonda Moore or Noelle Quinn can beat out Anna Deforge(I don't thank so ) for a spot, than maybe the organization will change their minds, but I doubt it.

That is the reason she(Novonda Moore only have a training camp contract . As far as LaToya Thomas , she won't even be signed to camp this year. She is a free agent. I heard she was looking to get with any team, but without success.

Ye, Renn M. was the best pick for the lynx. She was the prize. And Q. H. was also a good pick, a sleeper BIG.

Therefore look forward to a ligit playoff run this year. Renee M. falling to the Lynx was no accident; it was for a reason-to capture the glory of what was started in the first five games last season.

But the Lynx lack of rebounding caught up with them in Connecticut in 2008 and was a problem for the remainder of last season. But by bringing in Pringle, and the 6'5 Q. H., Nicky A. don't have to worry about being overwelmed by other bigs night after night. I believe Minnesota has formed a winning team that will be awesome and ready to contend for a championship in a few years.

Hey, ninti9... Renee Montgomery was not my "top pick" for the Lynx, either. Angel McCoughtry was! (lol) Then... maybe Marissa Coleman.

We don't always get what we want, ninti9. But we do have what we've got... a dilemma... so many players... and so few spots on the team roster.

Here's the facts, my friend...

Two of the biggest mistakes that the Lynx made last season was not starting Candice Wiggins and Charde Houston.

The next big mistake was MAKING Candice fill the point guard position whenever she entered the game.

It was awful!

Candice was a shooting guard relegated to penetrating the lane and dishing the ball (or getting fouled). That's how she got injured... playing out of position... doing things that weren't a part of her game.

The Lynx clearly needed a point guard.

One huge reason why DeWanna Bonner was not a great fit for the Lynx is that she had less than 50 assists in 32 games. The only open man she was hitting at Auburn... was herself.

I'm sorry, ninti9... but those are not good point guard numbers.

Heck... we've got plenty of scorers. We just need someone who can get them the ball when and where they can do the most damage.

And ninti9... Renee is no slouch!

She has a great handle on the ball. She plays extremely well on both ends of the court. She's dangerous from three... two and one. (lol) And she had GREAT point guard numbers... 170 assists in 33 games.

Now... I'll suspend my judgment on Quanitra Hollingsworth... only because she's 6'5"... and her name is about as long as she is tall.

But Rashanda McCants... If she's so good defensively... how did Quanitra score 20 points on her?

And ninti9... 6 rebounds, 1.2 steals and half of a block per game are not "defensive demon" numbers.

There was nothing that stood out about Rashanda... no All-ACC Team first team or all-defensive honors. And she's only 6'1. We have a bushel of players at that height.

Besides, the Lynx had a pretty good defense last season averaging 33 rebounds, 17 forced turnovers (9 steals), 4 blocks per games... while leading the league with the fewest turnovers per game. We just couldn't score enough points to win our games... even though we ranked 2nd in the WNBA in points per game (81).

Tell me this... do you think Rashanda is better than LaToya Pringle?

That's the kind of player she is going to have to knock off of the block to get a spot on the Lynx. I wish her all of the best, but... I just wouldn't have picked her.

Heck... out of the 430 Lynx fans polled on the Lynx website regarding which one of their 2009 WNBA Draft picks would have the "biggest impact" this season... Rashanda McCants came in dead last with 5% of the vote... even behind Emily Fox with 7% of the vote. (And we all know that that was a wasted pick.)

So... for Quanitra Hollingsworth, I'll wait and see. But for McCants...I'm just not buying it, my friend.

All right... all right, 5 jest najlepsza :)... Lotos may have won two games on THEIR own homecourt... but believe it or not... we've got them right where we want them. (lol)

Today's game was a game that we should have won... but it was a game that you HAD to win (in order to keep your homecourt advantage).

We were down by 2-4 points forever in the final quarter... and couldn't score a point. Go figure! Our veterans didn't come through.

Even with that said... I don't think Lotos wins another game, 5 jest najlepsza :).

And I want you to notice that I have no "ha-ha's" after that statement.

Now, that our players have figured out that they CAN stay on the court with Lotos and compete... it's on... like Donkey Kong!

Today's game was like feeding spinach to the famous cartoon character, Popeye the Sailorman.

Watch out Pluto (Popeye's arch rival)... you're in for one heck of a fight!

And everyone knows that there is only one way to conquer a bully like Pluto... fight him back!

The first two games were a learning process for KSSSE AZS PWSZ. They didn't know what to expect. Now they do.

They had prepared for everything... which spreads our focus... in too many directions.

Now, we can throw out what didn't work... and focus on what did.

I hope that Coach Dariusz has realized that he can't continue to platoon his players. That's too mechanical... and ineffective.

Lindsay Taylor is not strong enough defensively... and on the boards... to replace Nicky Anosike for 4 minutes out of every quarter. And it disrupts the flow and focus of Nicky... your best rebounder and defender on the floor.

And like you said, 5 jest najlepsza :)... if Coach Dariusz is not platooning Katarina Zohnova with Anna Breitreiner... then Tamika Catchings would not have been able to contain both of them.

The same is true with platooning Justyna Żurowska with Edyta Koryzna... or Samantha Richards with Katarzyna Czubak.

That's why Samantha and Edyta did not start today... platooning... and Samantha even has the better numbers.

We have to realize that rebounding and defense wins championships!

So... priority #1 is rebounding. We need to keep our best rebounders on the floor.

Lotos is not shooting better than Gorzów Wielkopolski... they're just getting more shots... second and third chances.

Check this out...

Lotos took 19 shots in each quarter. They got 10 offensive rebounds... 1 in the first... 4 in the second... 2 in the third... and 3 in the fourth.

In contrast...

Gorzów Wielkopolski shot 16 shots in the first quarter... 11 shots in the second... 17 shots in the third... and 15 shots in the fourth. And they got only 4 offensive rebounds... 1 in the first... 0 in the second... 2 in the third... and 1 in the fourth.

Both teams had 14 turnovers apiece... and Lotos committed 4 shooting fouls (which accounts for 4 extra possessions for Gorzów Wielkopolski) while Gorzów Wielkopolski committed 2 fouls against a shooter (accounting for 2 extra Lotos possessions).

Lotos got off 17 more shots than Gorzów Wielkopolski (15... if you deduct the shooting fouls).

Why?

Well... 10 offensive rebounds account for 6 of those extra shots... while Lotos' 14 forced turnovers accounted for the remainder of Lotos' extra shots.

We must concentrate on boxing-out and rebounding... to cut out Lotos' second-chance points.

Priority #2 is defense. We need to have our best defenders on Tamika and Paulina Pawlak. They are the heart of this Lotos team.

We contained Tamika... EXCELLENT JOB... only 4 points in the first half... 11 points for the game... But we let Paulina run wild to get 5 assists and FOUR (4) offensive rebounds.

We're gonna have to lock BOTH of these players down -- with or without Alana Beard -- and make someoneelse on their roster beat us.

Prioty #3 is putting the ball in the basket.

It's gut check time!

Coach Dariusz is gonna have to grab his veterans in the collar and tell them that they need to show up!

They can't just walk onto the court... They have to put the ball in the basket... score. They're not doing their part... and he needs to let them know... in no uncertain terms!

Nicky knows what I'm talking about. As co-captain, she did it to her Tennessee Lady Vols team in 2007... and they went on to win the first of their back-to-back NCAA Championships.

It's a simple game... We just allow our emotions to complicate it.

We need to check our gut... swallow our nerves... and just play the game.

5 jest najlepsza :)... my friend, I will see you on Thursday. That's when this championship final will really begin... on our turf. The Lotos mystique has evaporated... their force field has malfunctioned... and we're gonna zero-in for the kill.

In game #2 of the finals... Nicky led her team in rebounding with 8 rebounds and scoring with 16 points off of 7-13 shooting... and tacked on 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. That's my Nicky!

But that's just a taste of what you can expect for the rest of this trip, my friend. So, get a good grip... and hold on tight... you're in for a bumpy ride... the rest of the way, 5 jest najlepsza :). (lol)

Now... Istevie!... flyguy!... benji23_32!... I just can't believe that you guys are bickering back and forth on Sunday morning... with company watching! (lol)

And of course, you know that you're ALL wrong! (lol)

My MiniLynx are aligned to rip up the Western Conference THIS year, fellas.

Only one team in the West really dominated the Lynx last season... and that was the Seattle Storm (0-3).

We split with Houston (2-2)... and wore the eventual Western Conference Champion San Antonio Silver Stars like a Sunday hat (3-1).

The rest of the matchups in the West were toss-ups. We bounced the L.A. Sparks (1-2) in L.A. by 18 points, 88-70... the Sacramento Monarchs (1-2), 80-76... and the Phoenix Mercury (1-2), 94-83.

So, this kitty-cat is ready to roar... about what the Lynx are going to do in the West this year.

And flyguy... I'm certainly surprised that you have conceded the East to Detroit... Already?! Before the season even starts?!

I'll tell you one thing, flyguy... the Shock may be the reigning WNBA Champions... but they bet' not hiccup, buddy. (lol)

They bet' not hiccup... because the rest of the East... in Atlanta, Chicago and Washington... just got a whole lot better, my friend.

And you can best believe that none of the new rookies in the East (like Angel McCoughtry, Marissa Coleman, Kristi Toliver, Briann January, Kia Vaughn or Chante Black) want any of the Detroit Shocks' autographs... They want their crowns, baby! (lol) (lol) Just like my MiniLynx.

"Experience," my p-tootie! Desire, talent and confidence in yourself and your teammates will beat out "experience" any day of the week... any day of week, fellas.

But I can show you better than I can tell you. Just watch my MiniLynx this season. Just you wait and see.

Flyguy-The Fact is that you are only speculating. You feel these things in your heart. The are not fact. Furthermore, You can't underestiimate the heart and will of the Lynx players. You are not them. You can only guess based on the passed. You are not the Lynx. So There is no reality. The season hasn't even started. For there to be a reality, A thing must be in the here and now. So don't go there with me. Ony God knows who will actually win the wnba championship. And You are not God. And that's what I mean.

Well, Cash, here are my comments fresh from the game... Mind you, I only saw the 2nd half, so I have no idea how the 1st one went.
Whilst yesterday both teams played well in attack, today defense played a larger role. And of course the players' tiredness took its toll. They had barely 18 hour's break between matches - not a good idea. Why they had to stage today's game so early in the day I don't know.
The reason for the low score in the 4th quarter was the combination of both those factors. It was an extremely intensive game, very strong defense, and the players were worn out. Added to this all was nerves - with a close score and lots at stake, players of both teams missed several 100% chances to score in the 4th quarter.
Nicky played really well today. Much more aggressive, made some very good moves in attack. Also she was very tough in defense, making it a hard job for the Lotos centers to make their way to tha basket. The main Lotos center, Ivana Matovic, apparently scored 14 points before the break; but I didn't see her score a single point after I arrived, in the 2nd half. This was due to Nicky's good defense.
Lindsay Taylor probably didn't play much because of poor defense. She had a brief episode during the 3rd quarter, and from what I remember during that period Magda Leciejewska from Lotos was left uncovered to score several easy points from under the basket.
Gorzów sure did a good job in defense today against Catchings, but she had her revenge by limiting Breitreiner and Zohnova to 3 points between the two of them. That was almost entirely thanks to Catchings' terrific defense. I don't think I've ever seen anyone defend so well as Catchings against those two today. Given that, I can't understand why the Gorzów coach didn't play Breitreiner and Zohnova more together. If he'd done that, Catchings would only have been able to focus on one of them which would have left room for the other.
You're right, Gorzów has to win their next two games on Thursday and Friday if they want to get the championship. If they win only one, it'll be 3-1 after Friday and it'll be pretty hard to catch up. And if they lose both, it's all over. But to tell the truth, in my opinion it'll be 4-1 at the end of the series. Gorzów is too good to let it end as 4-0, but Lotos is too good to let both games in Gorzów slip :) Of course, that's just my opinion, anything can happen :) Gorzów has a chance in Alana Beard's injury, we were considerably weakened by her absence today. And Currie had another terrible game... I can't understand what's the matter with her. After doing something like 3 fouls in 3 minutes during the 3rd quarter she got terribly aggressive, I thought she was going to have a technical foul for sure.

Congrats 5, on your team's 2 wins. Like you, I was a little disappointed (and concerned) with Nicky's performance yesterday. She has been struggling with free throws in her last few games. I think the turning point yesterday may have been the block, then a steal that gave her confidence on offense.

And I missed today's game, it was too early here, but I saw the recap, and it was very close. What happened in the 4th quarter? There was hardly any scoring, were the players tired? And I noticed the Lindsay Taylor didn't play but a few minutes, while Nicky played the rest (she looked like she had a better game today). Is Lindsay hurt? And Breitreiner and Zohnova did not have a good shooting day at all. Breitreiner 0 points, Zohnova only hit a 3. And Gorzow was out-rebounded, especially offensive rebounds, that hurt them. It looked like they played better defense on Catchings, limiting her to 11 points. Not as many 3s went in today, like yesterday. (They shot the same amount of 3s, they just didn't go in-fatigue, I guess).

Tell us what you thought of the game today............
Gorzow has got to win the next 2 at home to stay alive, right?

lstevie, where are the words, "I am God" in this quote? You just don't like the harsh reality that the Lynx were not and probably still are not a playoff team. Stop being so emotional.

Well, my friends, to go back to Nicky's current adventures in Poland... Yesterday I was finally able to see her live :)
I must admit that for the first 2.75 quarters I was bitterly disappointed with her. She seemed slow in defence and ineffective in attack, and whilst the rest of the team was playing with great ambition Nicky seemed sluggish. Added to that was her atrocious missing of free throws (only 2 out of 8 went in). But I guess Nicky was just a little slow getting into her stride. Once she did... boy, there was no way of stopping her. Near the end of the 3rd quarter AZS caught up to only a 3-point deficit (55:58) and had a real chance of winning. At this point Nicky went on fire, and started to fight really hard under both baskets. In the last quarter she grabbed a lot of rebounds and most of Gorzów's points in that quarter were done by her - a really impressive accuracy from a distance of about 3-4 metres from the basket. So overall Nicky made quite a good impression on me in the end. I reckon she still has a lot of potential which she didn't show yesterday but will today :)

Generally it was a terrific game. Lots of nice moves in attack and sweet three-pointers. The outcome was just what I had hoped for - a Lotos win, but after a tough game and plenty of spirit from AZS. You could see that AZS really wanted the victory and were fighting every inch of the court to get it. Only at the very beginning of the game they were obviously nervous, they made lots of mistakes and were hopeless in defence, allowing Lotos to quickly establish an 11:0 lead. AZS did not score until five minutes into the 1st quarter, when Justyna Zurowska did just what a good captain does - took the responsibility on her shoulders and scored a brilliant 3-pointer which sparked hope into her team. During the 2nd quarter they consistently fought back, decreasing Lotos' lead to only 4 at half-tine. During this period Lindsay Taylor was especially effective under the basket and Katarina Zohnova managed to swallow her nerves and score some clutch points. And Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk's 3-pointer with the buzzer to end the first half was phenomenal!

In the third quarter Lotos streaked ahead but Gorzów never gave up. At 56:45, my beloved Breitreiner showed just what she is capable of by scoring two 3-pointers in a row. Mainly thanks to her and Katarzyna Czubak, who distributed the ball really well, they brought the margin down to three. At this point the aforementioned "Nicky show" started. But Lotos was just too good :)

Sorry guys, but AZS isn't good enough to beat a team which has Tamika Catchings. All right, you might say Catchings is just one player. But she is a team player. That's what she does. She plays for the team and works extremely well with every single member, even the reserves. And when things get dangerous (like it did yesterday at 58:55), she steps up into her scoring mode and settles the matter. No matter how well she is covered, she is so good that she will always bring in an immense contribution into her team's play, whether through points or rebounds or terrific defense.

Basically Gorzów had no answer to Catchings yesterday. But that was to be expected. The player who made the difference was Lotos playmaker, Paulina Pawlak. We've had her in Gdynia for like 6 seasons now and know her very well. Pawlak isn't the best playmaker in the world, she has plenty of faults. But she makes up for it with huge ambition. She always plays her heart out on the court. And she did just that yesterday. She played with such determination, it was wonderful to watch. 6 lovely three-pointers and sweet defense - and above all very good fulfilment of her roles as playmaker and captain of the team: good communication and understanding with her team, and mobilising her temmates at every step. That's the Paulina I like :) On April 1st the Lotos website put in an April Fools' joke that Paulina Pawlak, on Catchings' recommendation, had been accepted for WNBA. Well, maybe not this season, but if she continues playing like this she sure will be in a year or two :)

What is bad news for Lotos but good news for Gorzów is the situation with Lotos' other two Americans. Alana Beard played very well at the beginning of the match but then got injured and might be out to the end of the season. And Monique Currie, who was sidelined to the bench in the semi-finals against Wisla, seems to have really lost her confidence. Yesterday she did not score a single point and got fouled out in 9 minutes! In spite of Catchings' skill, her task of leading the team to the championship will be much more difficult if she loses her support from Beard and Currie continues not to give hers.

Anyway, I'm going back today, unfortunately only for the 2nd half but I hope to see a lot of terrific action again and a nailbiter to the very end! I'll try to give an account here afterwards.

Sorry Lynx fans...another slow year.
Too many titans in the west.
LA, San Antonio, Phoenix, Sacramento.
The possibility on them making the playoffs are a maybe,
but they won't get past the first round.
You can quote me on that! ;)

Emotions? My entire response was based on the game and the way it played out and why it would be different. I don't have emotions about it. I would actually root for Minnesota. If you'd been here any reasonable amount of time you would know that I love all of the teams in the midwest and HATE Becky Hammon. It IS a different game in the playoffs. You've never attended a live playoff game, I'm sure. The Liberty win those close games against Detroit during the season. During the playoffs they lose them. The Lynx are in a pretty similar situation. It's all about experience in the playoffs. San Antonio is ready to be there and the Lynx are not. You're the one being emotional about this. "If the Lynx made the playoffs..." If the Lynx made the playoffs, it would have meant they were a better team. A better team might have had a chance, but the Lynx didn't. That's why they missed the playoffs. They match up well against, San Antonio, but they were not a playoff team. No way would Minesota have beaten LA either, so let's not even talk about getting to Detroit. LA has a little defense on the perimeter.

Now you are talking in terms of emotions and instead of logic. Check out the stats. The playoffs is not always a different game for some teams. No Way! Some teams that have been dominated in the regular season have also been dominated in the playoffs. So don't pull that Bull ??? I have seen it too many times. San Antonio would have been knocked out of the playoffs by Minnesota Last year if the encounter had occurred.
Plus the Lynx would have giving Detroit a better game instead of being swept like San Antonio.

Oh... hello, Cloppy. Uh... did you lose your way?

Are you lost? You must be lost... or else you'd know that YOU have wandered into MY thread, my friend. And I will talk about what I-I-I want to talk about... for as long as I-I-I want to... whenever I-I-I get good-and-dang ready to.

Capiche?

Now... if that doesn't sit well with you, Cloppy... then you can see your way out like you saw your way in, my friend.

And flyguy... geez, this is like cutting up your meat for you. (lol)

Try my April 11th post... It's only about 6-and-half miles long. (lol)

Wow Cloppy, sheath your claws dear. I'll be short and sweet here whereas deeo' can give you miles of dialogue on why you shouldn't use the word stupid...........This topic which says "Nicky Anosike" is a topic started by deeo' months ago. Nicky is playing in Poland at the moment, so we like to "talk" about our favorite player, Nicky. If you would go back and read the miles and miles of posts in this particular topic, you will see that we followed her to Israel too. Don't read it, if it doesn't interest you, but don't call other people's posts stupid.

I read other posts, but don't comment on them if I think they're a little silly, I simply ignore them.

Indeed, lack of experience did lose this game. The Lynx did not know how to execute down the stretch and missed their free throws and Detroit did everything right. You don't go hurling the ball downcourt and risk a turnover when you can hand it in and be guaranteed 2 free throws. Then you have to play defense, which they didn't do.

Your posts are 7 miles long. I'm not interested in the Polish league, so I skim over them looking for things addressed to me. Sometimes I miss them, I guess. How about 1 post with all your questions to me? Don't make it 7 miles long either. ;)

Hey, smartiess(rule!!!)... I hear ya... Deanna Nolan really had a great game.

But by about the 35-second mark in the game, she only had 27 points... and Detroit was losing on their home court. I was watching the webcast.

Then Detroit started fouling to extend the game. The Lynx were just handing the ball in on the baseline and accepting the fouls. They did not try to throw the ball down the court to burn precious time before each foul. They played right into Detroit's hand... and allowed them to conserve time. And they did!

Heck... by the time Detroit had committed THREE (3) fouls and converted on offense twice... they still had 18 seconds left on the clock.

That's awful!

That's just bad coaching, smarties(rule!!!)!

In 27 seconds... Detroit was allowed to commit FOUR (4) fouls to extend the game... the Lynx went 6-8 from the freethrow line... and Detroit knocked down two 3-pointers and a layup to make the score, 84-81.

Then came the Lindsay Harding foul on Deanna from behind the three-point arc with 4 seconds left in the game. And Deanna nailed the three freethrows to send it into overtime. And the rest is history.

But even at the end of regulation, the Lynx had 4 seconds and the ball taken out at halfcourt for the last shot.

While I didn't mean to diminish the game that Deanna had... because she did have to knock down the shots to win... but Coach Zierden should have been kicked dead in his gazoo for letting that game slip away!

And it was clear that Deanna was Detroit's only option. How do 5 people let one person score 11 points in 35 seconds? When you figure that out... let me know.

Deanna started the 4th quarter with 16 points... finished regulation with 36... and the game with 44. (She scored 11 points in 9 minutes and 25 seconds. Then she scored 9 points in 35 seconds.)

My intentions were to single out examples of poor coaching for MiniLynx... not to downplay Deanna's heroics, smarties(rule!!!).

Updated********************

And flyguy, it wasn't a lack of experience that lost this game against Detroit... unless, of course, you're referring to Coach Zierden.

And by the way flyguy... you seem to answer everybody's questions... but mine. (lol) I'm jealous. Why haven't you answered my questions to you in the past 10 days? I really want to know what you think.

Experience beat desrie that night, didn't it Dee? Let's not go back to former stupidities. Look at who wins championships. Teams full of rookies and young players do not get it done when it matters. I've been watching the Liberty similarly not get it done for years.

Stop being stupid and pretentious. I think those things with my brain, idiot. My heart has nothing to do with it. Let's really be logical here. Do you really feel things in your heart? Your heart pumps blood. It's all in your head. Emotions are cause by chemicals and such, but leave that out of this. These are thoughts and opinions backed by how things went last year. The Lynx are probably not a playoff team until Montgomery is ready to run the offense. Kelly Miller couldn't get Cappie and Taurasi into the playoffs with mediocre post play. I don't think she's getting Wiggins and Augustus there with mediocre post play either. Seems you're getting too emotional about this.

(lol) Cash! "Puke" is not a curse word. (lol) But it does get your point across. In fact... you took the words right out of my mouth. And that goes for Kelly Miller, too.

If they're paying 'em too much to warm the pines... let 'em park cars or sell hotdogs or do the team's laundry or something. Just don't play 'em.

And Istevie... what is it with you and flyguy? You guys just don't play well together. (lol)

And it's after midnight... I know that I'm working... but what are all of you guys doing up?

I'm really enjoying your company. You're getting me through the night.

What do you think, cash?

Deeo', at this point, I can't even make an educated guess what the Lynx will do. I'm not big on either one that you mentioned, and if Coach Z keeps DeForge and starts her, I believe I will just puke. Excuse the language. lol

Oh, really? You think that the Liberty will cut Erlana Larkins or Jessica Davenport... to make room for Kia Vaughn?

Why wouldn't they just cut Lisa Willis and Ashley Battle... and be done with it?

Why are you so protective of Lisa. I mean... Lisa doesn't even average one point or a single assist. And Ashley is not much better. Why not clean house and give your two rookies a shot?

I don't know who I'd keep on the Lynx roster beyond Nicky Anosike, Charde Houston, Seimone Augustus, Candice Wiggins, LaToya Pringle and Renee Montgomery.

I'm just bracing myself... waiting to see if they don't make a deal and get rid of Kelly Miller AND Anna DeForge... and their fat contracts (if that's the case).

deeo'rumpshaker, ok now i see what you were saying, and im glad that was clarified!!!!!!! i totally agree though, we shouldnt have won that game we had been outplayed and got very lucky there in the end that minnesota could not put it away

i also think they could use a different coach like brian winters, besides being a very good coach i think he would know how to utilize the defensive players that are on the lynx roster, renee has great pressure D, same with candice, nicky is a good defender, and latoya is a great shot blocker

still hope they can make a splash and get into the playoffs this year!!!!!

L-Mo/Lei
E/WIllis
Shameka/AB
Cat/Tiff/Big E (I'd start Tiff if she was healthy, but they're paying Cat too much money now)
J-Mac/Jess

But I think Kia Vaughn will make it. I don't know for sure who will get cut, but it's between Big E and Jess.

I don't really care, I just want the best team on the floor. If Vaughn doesn't pan out and Zellous does, they should all be fired. Whether they're friendly acquaintences of mine or not. That's my opinion and most people know it.

If she makes the team over Willis, I'll be upset. She better pan out if they cut a former first round pick to keep her. Especially after her less than stellar junior and senior seasons.

I agree about Fox. She's a sideshow at a preseason game. That's all. But McCants is a good pick. I really like her and I believe she can be a solid player. She's also amazing at the arcade pop-a-shot game. Beat me by 30 points.

The Lynx may compete, but they're paying DeForge and Miller too much money. I'd hate to see them start the wrong players at the wrong time. It's going to be tough setting the rotation and it'll drive you crazy at first, but don't fault the coaching staff. There are only so many minutes to go around.

> My only true concern is the coaching...

Zierden is fine. He's a great guy and he knows the Xs and Os. Some of my most respected connections know him and have nothing but good things to say.

cheryl ford won't be ready to play at the start of the season will she? a torn acl takes a while to come back from and it was kind of late last season when she got injured. i think they should start who you said but in ford's place (until she comes back) they should start braxton or zellous.

deeo'rumpshaker, for the shocks roster i would say starting are alexis hornbuckle, deanna nolan, katie smith, taj mcwilliams franklin, and cheryl ford...on the bench plenette pierson, kara braxton, shavonte zellous, then 4 players fighting for 3 spots...britany miller, olayinka sanni, tanae davis cain, and tiera delahoussaye most likely tiera will get cut but we will see

this is also barring any more free agent signings

Cash... thanks for the congrats... And isn't Bezet a blessing?

But there is absolutely no way that I would obtain this jersey and not share it with you.

If all goes well... I would like for Nicky Anosike to autograph both sides of the jersey... so that I can share it with you. If that's alright with you.

I had planned to have the jersey mounted and framed with her picture. Now, you can do the same. Yes?

Besides... what's the joy in receiving a blessing that you can't share with your friend?

I'm just so amazed that Bezet and AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski have been so gracious in accommodating my request.

Bezet is absolutely unbelievable!

And I hope that all goes well.

Big Money, I'm so excited 'til I'm just throwing stuff off of my wall to make a special place for this very special keepsake.

Ain't God good?

Bezet! Bezet! Bezet! You are an angel!

This is like Christmas morning! I am so happy!

Oh... and that big thump you heard five minutes ago when I first read your message? That was me... fainting! (lol)

I'm so excited! I must take my heart medication... before you hear another thump. (lol) And that won't be so good. (lol)

A Nicky Anosike replica KSSSE AZS PWSZ jersey?! Oh, my! Autographed by Nicky?! Oh, my!

Yes... Yes... to everything, Bezet!

What do I do next... besides breathe?! (lol)

Bezet, how can I ever thank you enough?!

You have definitely made my day!

And please extend my gratitude to Mr. Paweł Kozłowski and the club for their favorable response to my request. I am extremely grateful.

But please explain to the club that I do not want to impose on Nicky... if she should want to keep all of her jerseys. I will understand.

Here... replicas of the players' jerseys are sold to the fans. I did not understand that it was not the same there. But to receive an actual Nicky Anosike jersey... is much more than I could have ever imagined. I am truly humbled... and moved beyond words.

Thank you, again and again, my friend.

It is raining here... but I am beaming like the sun! Something very special has happened to me today!

Deeo', on Saturday (the 18-th) I went to the club once again. They told me that they had received your e-mail.

They said that sending you a Nicky's jersey will be possible, if Nicky will not take all her game-jerseys to the USA. If she'll want to take all - there will be a little problem (they aren't sure whether they have a spare one).

I also suggested, that would be nice if - before sending a jersey to you - Nicky signed the jersey. They said it is possible if only you'd want it and if Nicky wouldn't mind to sign.

Jeepers, flyguy, I sure hope that you are wrong about Kelly Miller and Anna DeForge.

If Minnesota was gonna get some veterans... why didn't they get some good ones.

It's more than my thought. It's what I hear. Only other possibility, really, is that one will be traded, which brings me to...

> Why wouldn't they just cut Lisa Willis and Ashley
> Battle... and be done with it?

If you cut AB, you have no back up SF and no perimeter defense off the bench. The only way you can cut AB is if you trade one of those posts (and maybe a pick) for a better back up at the 3 position.

> Why are you so protective of Lisa. I mean... Lisa
> doesn't even average one point or a single assist.
> And Ashley is not much better. Why not clean house
> e and give your two rookies a shot?

Lisa Willis is good. She's had some really good games for us, but didn't always get the minutes. With ET gone, she'll have to get them and I'm sure she'll produce. The way she played for a while, I'd have started her early last season if it was up to me. Same as with AB though, if you can trade for a better 2, or if Waner should somehow beat her out. Cut her. I'm not protective of anybody.

No team wants Anna DeForge at what they're paying her. Kelly Miller should start at the beginning of the season too. That's your veteran leadership. Without both of them, the team goes nowhere. DeForge is the one you'd like to get rid of, but she's not tradable.

Did I say that? I can't find it. A lot of things have to happen for them to lose it, I remember saying that. I'm not inclined to believe that all of those things will happen, but that's why we play the games. Detroit is the overwhelming favorite, but I'd like to see Atlanta do well. Obviously, I'm rooting for the Liberty though. Chicago isn't gonna do it with that coaching, but they might make the playoffs. Washington sucks and will suck for a long time. Connecticut is somewhere in the middle. They're the big question mark.

Read my post. It answers all the other questions. As far as WHY Miller was picked: she just may have been the best available in Laimbeer's eyes. More likely she was brought in to motivate Braxton who is on an enormous contract and has been known to slack off as much as she can get away with. With another player trying to steal her minutes (at least in theory) she can be made to believe that she has to work harder.

really we are gonna get kristin haynie!?!?!?!?!?! that is awesome!!!!!!!!! i was hoping we'd go after her since she played at michigan state but i didnt know we would, i definitely like her over tiera and tanae lol, although i still like them and have no problem with them:-)

this definitely makes a lot of sense though...and im also glad pierson is gonna play during training camp!!!!!!!!

unfortunately im not sure what is going on with pierson, but it sounds like cheryl should be ready for training camp, but we will see...ya i like the look of tiera's stats(havent seen her play though) but i just like the fact that tanae can hit the 3ball while it seems that tiera cant, trust me id love to have either, to be honest id love to have both but i dont see that happening

britany miller is just like kara and while we needed guards i dont think bill liked the production from shields, although i was hoping she could help us out this season...but i think miller might be insurance in case pierson isnt able to play for a while or if cheryl gets hurt again, hope it doesnt happen, knock on wood!!!!! lol

if cheryl isnt ready by the start of the season though, i see kara starting and hopefully she will keep progressing from last year and be way more consistent!!!! im hoping we will be fully healthy and dominant this year though!!!!!!! GO SHOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a part of something bigger. Detroit is going to sign Kristin Haynie. They made Atlanta take Shields off their hands and give them the 18th pick, so that Atlanta could cut Haynie and Detroit would pick her up. They did this because Haynie was vastly overpaid and on a guaranteed contract. Atlanta just could not afford to keep her and pay their newly acquired players the max salary. If you cut a player on a guaranteed contract and nobody signs her, you still have to pay her and it doesn't do you any good. They worked something out with San Antonio about Katie Feenstra too, but nothing's happened yet.

Don't worry about either one of them. Bill isn't done.

She'll practice the first day of training camp. This is straight from Laimbeer.

Why would Bill Laimbeer trade away a guard (Ashley Shields) to get an extra draft pick so that he can draft a center (Brittany Miller) who is a carbon copy of a center they already have (Kara Braxton)?

And to be honest with you, smarties(rule!!!)... Tiera Delahoussaye looks a lot better than Tanae Davis-Cain. Tiera sounds like a pack of dynamite! Tanae's numbers are not impressive at all.

How is Plenette Pierson? If you've been reading our thread... you know the Plenette suffered a knee injury in the playoffs in Poland a couple of weeks ago.

You can only see one side, true, but it's not going to look right if you cut it in half. I bet that if she knew you were going to cut it in half, she wouldn't give it to you. She'd be more likely to send you two so that you didn't do that. If cash is trying to talk you out of it, that's even more reason not to do it. I would try to talk you out of it too. We'll all be very happy for you, but you don't need to cut it in half. We're talking about a real game worn jersey. She wore this all season and poured her blood, sweat and tears into this every game. If she's good enough to give you one, you don't wanna ruin it. Sherill Baker gave me her warm up shirt (straight off her back, still all sweaty) at the end of the '06 season. I'd never dream of taking scissors to it. Share it with all of us by sending pictures and telling us how happy you are. That's how I would want you to share it and I bet cash feels the same way..

Yes, flyguy, I've been trying to talk her out of it. Without much luck, I might add. She's wanting to frame it (which is what I would do with it too) and she says that you can only see one side. lol

Hello, Bezet... I haven't received any e-mails from the Gorzów Wielkopolski club. But I'm waiting with great anticipation!

But I must admit that I'm just this minute checking my messages... because I've been alittle under the weather today, my friend. So, keep me in your prayers... as you are in mine.

Bezet, again... I thank you so very much for your assistance and persistence on my behalf. I cannot even begin to express what that means to me, my friend. Thank you!

If I am permitted to obtain Nicky Anosike's jersey from the club, it is my wish to share this jersey with my dear friend and Nicky Anosike fan on this thread, cash. So, do you think it is possible to have both the front and back of the jersey autographed by Nicky (should she agree to do so), Bezet?

Cash... what a huge exclamation point this would be on a very exciting overseas adventure... following Nicky to Israel... through EuroCup... and on to wonderful Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland.

This WNBA off-season, we scaled every obstacle (foreign and domestic) to show our support for Nicky and the teams she played for this winter. And yet... we still have FOUR MORE GAMES AND A POLISH CHAMPIONSHIP TO WIN!

Did you hear that, 5 jest najlepsza :)! (lol)

It's our turn to hold court... and wait 'til you see and hear our great fans in Gorzów Wielkopolski, my friend.

And thanks to both you and Bezet for the video of the game. I see a lot of things that we can exploit to gain an advantage over Lotos.

But the biggest obstacle -- FEAR -- has already been conquered.

I'm more than optimistic about the rest of the games in this championship series... I'm PUMPED... exploding with enthusiasm!

Bezet and 5 jest najlepsza :)... to you both, I extend my apologies for ANY insensitive comments that ANY fan may have posted on this thread of the WNBA forum.

While passionate and vigorous debates are welcomed on THIS thread... ignorance or intolerance is not.

So, please accept my apology if you have been offended in any way by anyone on this thread. And know that I will neither tolerate nor ignore such insensitive conduct/comments... for my response to such conduct/comments will be both swift and blunt.

And know that such comments do not reflect the views of the Nicky Anosike and AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski fans who frequest this blog daily.

And flyguy... I don't agree with you that the Washington Mystics are going to "suck" this year.

While I think that General Manager Angela Taylor (formerly in the Minnesota Lynx front office) is unethical... I do think that owner Sheila Johnson has finally turned the page... and the future is bright for her Mystics with monster talent like Marissa Coleman, Crystal Langhorne, Alana Beard, Matee Ajavon, Lindsey Harding, Monique Currie, Tasha Humphrey, Chasity Melvin and Nakia Sanford... and with a solid head coach like "The Plank," Julie Plank.

You had better take a second look at the Mystics, flyguy. The New York Liberty are gonna have their hands full trying to matchup with the new-look Mystics... because "The Plank" will have 'em taking care of the ball and playing some real defense this year. And when their turnovers go down and their defense heats up... watch out, baby!

As for the Chicago Sky, flyguy, I don't agree with you here, either.

Have you forgotten how Chicago raised a lot of folks' blood pressure last year in their last-minute push for the Eastern playoffs -- after Sylvia Fowles returned from the Beijing Olympics?

Sylvia has fought her game in the pros. And if she's healthy, she'll have all of the supporting cast she needs with talent like Candice Dupree, Jia Perkins, Armintie Price, Kristi Toliver and (my favorite) Jennifer Risper.

Chicago will definitely make it to the post-season in the East... in spite of their coaching.

In fact... I think that there are going to be a lot of unfamiliar faces in the Eastern Conference playoffs this year... and one or two unfamiliar faces in the Western Conference playoffs. And one of those faces in the West will have whiskers and will purrr like a kitty-cat... Sounds like my Minnesota Lynx.

Hey, and if you want you can watch the Saturday game, and the 1st half of Sunday as well. On the website you go to the link "Mecze", from the drop-down list of 4 you take "mecze" again. Then the links to all 4 quarters of Sunday's game come up. Below them there's a link called "nastepne", this takes you to page 2 of 41 where you have all 4 quarters of Saturday's game. So have fun :)

ronb711, Bezet and 5 jest najlepsza are all the way from Poland. They found us here in the states and have helped deeo' and myself to follow Nicky while she has been in Poland since January with links to websites, photos of games, videos of games etc. They truly have been very helpful to us.

Maybe one of these days the WNBA, FIBA and the leagues in other countries will all get together and give us links to team websites, their schedules and webcasts of games in ONE place, so all we have to do is point and click. Then it would be a breeze to follow players overseas. Wouldn't that be awesome? I'm curious as to whether other countries can view the WNBA webcasts or are they restricted? We have run into that problem while we have tried to view oversea games a couple of times.

I agree that players gain experience and confidence while they play overseas. I like the idea of them being able to keep in shape through the winter, gaining more knowledge from other coaches and other veteran players.

I don't know who you all are or where you live but I'm glad to see the recaps and the interest from outside the USA. As far as the women playing overseas? What can you expect!! This is thier career and they make good money outside of the USA. Besides think of the experience they are getting. Granted the game in the USA is played a bit different than outside the USA (there's less of a post presence outside the USA and more outside shooting) but as with any sport you adapt to the conditions. I just wish that somehow that FIBA and some of the overseas leagues and the WNBA could get together with regards to scheduling so that thier schedules don't conflict. How about some of the team backers outside the USA backing a new WNBA team or two. Maybe that would allow more WNBA markets to be opened and allow more spots for some good playes both USA and others to play making womens basketball even stronger - Just a thought. Afterall the overseas backes seem to have the money.

Deeo', I was in the club today morning. There is a bad message for you unfortunately.
They talked to Nicky and she said that she'll take all her game-jerseys to the United States.

But there is the light of hope. They also said, they will try to make an additional Nicky's jersey.

Deeo', there is one thing, I'm afraid. They in the club are now very, very busy and they have on their heads many matters (the three-days' quarter-final tournament of Championships of Poland Basketball Women Juniors begins in Gorzów tomorrow).
Let's have hope, they will remember about you deeo'. Let's hope.

Oh, my goodness... what a game!

It was not good for Gorzów Wielkopolski... or my heart. (lol) But it was SOOOOOO good for our players!

Now, they know what it's like to be in a real fight! ... to get knocked down and have to pick yourself back up! ... to weather the heavy blows and still stand toe-to-toe and fight!

You don't have to tell Nicky Anosike or Lindsay Taylor to jump into the fray and fight... because their fists are bloodied.

You don't have to tell Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk or Justyna Żurowska to jump into the fray and fight... because their fists are bloodied.

You don't have to tell Coach Dariusz and the fans to jump into the fray and fight... because their faces are red... the veins are bulging out of their necks and foreheads... their tonsils are sore from yelling!

They showed their hearts... and their guts! And I love it!

There is no more fear... of Lotos... of the finals... or of losing.

There is only opportunity...

There are 11 other teams in the Polish Women's Basketball League... who would give anything for an opportunity to play in the finals of the Germaz Ford Ekstraklasy... RIGHT NOW!

They wouldn't care if you told them that they would have to start down 3 games to none (3-0). They would WANT that opportunity! Any one of those 11 teams would gladly SEIZE that opportunity -- no matter how slim the odds -- to play for the gold!

One game at a time is how KSSSE AZS PWSZ is going to climb back into this finals.

One basket at a time... one rebound at a time... one defensive stop at a time... that's how you climb back into this thing.

We dominated the boards against Lotos (31-23) and limited their second chance points. OUTSTANDING! Rebounding is all about DESIRE! And 31 rebounds really showed our desire to win.
live.plkk.pl/plkk/mecz.html?game_id=2487
js1.live.iskiereczka.pl/plkk_2487.html

But 22 turnovers proved to be too much to overcome. Lotos picked our pockets 15 times... and we turned the ball over another 7 times. We have to take better care of the ball. We owned the boards. Now, we have to protect the ball.

I agree with you, 5 jest najlepsza :), we need a better game out of our guards in game #4. Trying to win a game without good guard-play is like trying to steer a car from the backseat.

Lindsay's effort was awesome today! But more boards should be on her agenda in game #4. Three boards are not enough.

Nicky Anosike brought "The Big Nasty" with her today. And that always spells HARD-TO-HANDLE for the other team. Again, Nicky led her team in scoring and rebounding with 21 points, 8 boards, 3 blocks and 2 assists. But I know that Nicky would gladly trade any of her points or rebounds for the victory.

I am proud of our effort today! Just as I will be proud of our victory tomorrow!

And for all those like my friend, Cloppy... who believe that American players are wasting their time and risking their WNBA careers overseas... you had better wake up and smell Miss. Coffee! In the McDonalds scheme of things... in the pocketbook... where it counts... the WNBA is the Happy Meal... while the overseas leagues are the Big Macs!

And if you love basketball, Cloppy, you should seize the opportunity to follow your favorite players overseas... to support them in whatever they do... wherever they do it.

But for the VISA commercial Tamika Catchings did last year... she is relatively obscure in the media in America. But Tamika is beloved and very famous in Poland. When she got injured in Gorzów Wielkopolski -- on her opponent's homecourt -- the fans in the stands chanted "Tamika, Tamika, Tamika..." as testimony to her popularity and in appreciation for what she brings to the game over there.

Would it have been better if Tamika got injured in Indiana, Cloppy... rolling on the floor... crying and holding her face... wearing a WNBA jersey?

No!

Whether Tamika suffers an injury in Poland or in Indiana is irrelevant, my friend. What is relevant is that she recovers.

Thanks for the recap of the game, 5. That was just an unfortunate accident today with Zohnova and Catchings. I hope she's alright. AZS should have tried to get more of Lotos' players to foul out today. That would have been my plan. You had 1 player to foul out in the 4th and you had at least 2 with 4 fouls. Leciejewska and Jujka picked up their 4th fouls at the end of the 3rd quarter, why not try to eliminate them from the game? Those are 2 of your best scorers.

I don't think that some of Gorzow's players are playing their best basketball. I don't know if it's nerves, just trying too hard, or exhaustion. It would be nice if they all would be able to score tomorrow.

Also, what does this word mean? It doesn't translate.... poldystansu

Thanks again, I would wish you luck, but I think WE need it more!;-)

Game over, 81:74 for Lotos. My, the 2nd half was crazy. Lotos was coasting along with a 17-point lead when Catchings collided very unpleasantly with Zohnova. It appears Tamika got either elbowed in the face or poked in the eye or both (although it definitely wasn't intentional of Zohnova). Catchings fainted and had to be reanimated by the team doctor. When she regained consciousness she was crying with pain and had to be taken to hospital on a stretcher. After that tempers were running high, several more nasty incidents and technical fouls. Lindsay Taylor had about 10 free throws of which she made 9. Then Nicky and Justyna Zurowska combined for a terrific spurt and the game was tied. At the very end, though, it was once more Lotos' pure skill that won us the game. Once again Paulina Pawlak showed nerves of steel with a clutch three-pointer and then Katia Snytsina added several points which settled it all.

Lotos showed real character in today's game and I'm proud of my team. After such a horrible event they seemed shattered but they rallied at the end and through huge determination won the game. Apart for Pawlak and Snytsina, I must praise the young Polish centers Marta Jujka and Magda Leciejewska who were on really good form and weren't afraid to take responsibility on their shoulders when the game got close. As for Gorzów - the smaller players really disappointed. Breitreiner was OK, but Richards and Czubak had a very bad game. Zohnova had probably her worst game of the season and added to that was the situation with Catchings in which she didn't come to any physical harm but certainly suffered terribly mentally afterwards. But the big girls showed real fire. Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk showed real nerve for a teenager and Justyna Zurowska fulfilled her role to lead the team as captain to perfection when Gorzów sensed their chance. Nicky was fantastic and Lindsay Taylor too. I always liked those two but I really admire them after this game. Lotos won fairly and squarely, they were the best team overall, but Nicky and Lindsay played their hearts out and I'm really sorry for them that they had to taste the bitter pill of defeat.

Gorzów lost a huge chance for victory today, which they will certainly rue bitterly as now it's 3-0. To win 4 games in a row against Lotos is an almost impossible task, although - you never know what may happen. The big question is about Catchings. If she does not play tomorrow that will make it much harder for Lotos to win. We will have to wait and see what the verdict is at the hospital. What is certain is that tomorrow will be the most electrifying game of this whole season for both teams. I can't wait for it to start :)

tamika catchings is very accident proned the last couple years. i hope she is ok and won't have to miss any of the wnba season. thats the only thing i hate about our players playing overseas. they get injured over there and then poof, they miss the wnba season which is what we all really care about. i wish the wnba could pay our players as much as they make overseas so they wouldnt have to go over there to suppliment their income. but i know thats impossible.

5 jest najlepsza, what happened to Tamika Catchings in the 3rd or 4th quarter? They brought in a medical team and she left on a stretcher? She wasn't even in the game at the time. Did it happen previously because she was sitting most of the 3rd. And what happened for the technical? Did the Lotos bench get the technical? I thought that AZS was going to pull it out at the end. But Lotos' defense was too much and they kept scoring, while we kept trying 3's.

I quite agree with Cash and Fluyguy, it would be horrible to cut Nicky's jersey in half! I'm a lucky possessor of a shirt of Margo Dydek's and I would feel like I was committing sacrilege if I was to cut it in half.
Meanwhile AZS and Lotos are battling it out and I'm watching of television. Lotos is 10 points ahead at half-time but Nicky is playing an extremely good game for Gorzów - she showed several terrific moves under the basket and even blocked Tamika Catchings! And at the end of the 2nd quarter I had the opportunity to see Nicky coast across the court in a fast attack - that was quite something :) Lindsay Taylor is playing well too, but overall Lotos is playing miles better than Gorzów.

Tamika was on yesterday's game. She was smiling. She got flowers from one of Gorzów fans. The whole audience was clapping and chanting her name: Ta-mi-ka !!! Ta-mi-ka !!! Ta-mi-ka !!!
It was amazing !

Oh my goodness, Bezet. What a terrific win!!! And all without Nicky (who fouled out in the 3rd--:-(). What an awesome game for Zohnova to nail those 2 free throws in the final seconds. Zurowska, Breitreiner, Zohnova and Kaczmarczyk really played their hearts out today. I'm so happy for the team and the fans of Gorzow. Now all they have to do is win 3 more in a row. Nothing is impossible, now that AZS PWSZ can see that they can compete with Lotos.

And that was so sweet of you to get that brochure autographed for deeo'. Nicky doesn't realize what tenacious fans she has. lol (As IF we would forget to watch the WNBA and the Lynx, after following all of her games overseas).

Hey, cash and flyguy.

Cash, I did miss the message you're talking about... because I was struggling alittle... hitting and missing whenever I felt up to it. But thanks for asking, Big Money. I must confess... I'm truly blessed. (lol)

It's just that when you're feeling great, you have a tendency to slack off of the regimen that makes you feel that way. And then the ol' ticker gives you a wakeup call... and you had better get back on the schtick, sister... or you will leave here real quick and in a hurry. (lol)

I'm back on the schtick, Big Money!

And I will watch tomorrow's game... AT HOME! (lol) (lol)

I sure miss not being able to save the play-by-play boards for yesterday's game. It was hours later before I could find out what actually happened in those last 6 seconds. My computer and I were on lock-down. (lol) I even 911-ed my brother to text the final score to me on my cell phone. (lol) Boy, was I relieved. Cash, I didn't know that we had a foul to give when Samantha Richards fouled after we took the lead.

I'm PUMPED for game #5!

Tamika Catchings is back... thank God for that!

She has stitches in her eyelid. If there is still swelling... I hope that she will use her better judgment and sit this game out. I would hate to see Tamika subject herself to further injury by trying to play with impaired vision. She needs her peripheral vision... and she needs to be able to look upwards. We all know that Tamika has a heart of a lioness and a deep dedication to her team, her teammates and her fans. But if her vision is impaired... in any way... she should sit.

As for Nicky... "The Big Nasty" is locked, loaded and ready to reek havoc in Gdynia!

Here is a link to the v-i-d-e-o r-e-c-o-r-d-i-n-g (5 minutes) of the last minutes of our last game (KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzów - Lotos Gdynia 65:64). Anne Breitreiner was fantastic when she after her 3-point shot started motivate the team and the audience, with her hands up. When the score is AZS - Lotos 63:64, you can see Katerina Zohnova shooting twice for 1 point. After that is 65:64 and nerves were extreme high.

In the b-a-c-k-g-r-o-u-n-d of the r-e-c-o-r-d-i-n-g you can hear voice of Paulina Pawlak (#6), captain of Lotos. She says she didn't want to push our captain (#8) Justyna Żurowska.

You foul because time has run off the clock and the other team now has to reset. It's strictly to kill time (and make the other team try to inbound again).

Yesterday's game was absolutely terrific... I love basketball for such games as this! Tight defense, both teams fighting for every inch of the court, plenty of sweet baskets, and the advantage going from one side to the other like in a see-saw!

You all know that I support Lotos to win this championship - but I like Gorzów very much too, and I could not help feeling a bit sorry for them when they were down in the 4th quarter yesterday. I felt sure they deserved at least that one victory - however good Lotos is, 4-0 would be terribly unfair. Most unfortunately I missed the last few minutes of the game because I had to collect my mother from the bus station. I left just after Paulina Pawlak scored a 3-pointer for 64:58 barely 3 minutes or so from the end. I was sure it was over then. And although I was happy for my team winning the championship I couldn't help a tiny bit of regret.

Then some time later I came home, switched on my computer sure to see the triumphant news of Lotos as champion proclaimed on the PLKK website... and instead... surprise surprise... I see the impossible has happened: Gorzów has won! So as a result I'm off for another game tomorrow :) I can't pretend that I'm not happy to have this extra excitement :)

Now I know it was disappointing that Nicky got fouled out so quickly, but in the short time she spent on court she was terrific. She had several manouvres under the basket which were fantastic - she made the Lotos big girls (Matovic, Leciejewska and Podrug) look like helpless children. And some of the fouls called on her were really unfair. I must admit that the referees were definitely biased towards Lotos in this match - so all the more credit to Gorzów for pulling off the win!

From the Lotos point of view there are several positive aspects. One is that Catchings may well be back in action tomorrow. Another is that Monique Currie has woken up - after scoring 1(!) point in 6 games, she was back on fire yesterday. And finally, Katia Snytsina. The Belorussian forward is having a terrific series and yesterday she was in her element. She won the game for Lotos on Thursday and very nearly did so again today. Especially her buzzer-beater at the end of the 3rd quarter was magnificent. Snytsina can be a bit thoughtless on court occasionally, with stupid fouls and turnovers, but her attacking moves are sooooo sweet... I do hope that we in Lotos are going to keep her for next season! :)

Oh, my... Bezet! Bezet! Bezet!

Do you mean to tell me that you had Nicky Anosike autograph a finals brochure to ME?! ... On the day that Gorzów Wielkopolski won its first -- ever -- finals game?!

Oh, my! You ARE my angel, Bezet! I am very happy... and very moved by your kindness and thoughtfulness.

You have been a great ambassador for Poland... and a Godsend for me.

How can I ever repay you for all that you've done on my behalf? I am truly in your debt. Thank you... once again, my friend!

I must let you in on a little secret. I'm supposed to be resting (because of alittle heart ailment I have)... but I could not bare to rest with such an important game today.

So... I stowed away in a secluded area of our small restaurant and secretly watched the play-by-play of the #4 game of the finals.

The game goes back and forth... but I cannot cheer. I whisper, "Yes!"

Nicky fouls out of the game with two minutes left in the third quarter... but I cannot scream. I whisper, "No-o-o-o, Nicky!"

With 6 seconds left in the game and the score 65-64 (in our favor)... our Samantha Richards commits a foul.

And just when I was about to explode in disbelief... my computer screen goes blank. I scream something that I really cannot translate... and run down the aisle into the kitchen to find my mother turning the circuit-breaker back on and whispering, "How was your rest, dearie?" (lol) (lol) I laughed 'til I cried. (lol) (lol)

Busted! (lol) (lol) I couldn't say a word. I guess I wasn't as quiet (or as sneaky) as I had thought, Big Money.

So, it's only now that I find out how the game ended.

But there sure ain't nothing like a good fight! And KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski fought like wild tigers and barbarians... like someone who wants to be champion!

That's what I'm talking about, Bezet!

If you are willing to fight with all of your heart... and all of your might... you make your own breaks... and your own luck.

I mean... 5 jest najlepsza :), how do you win a game when...

... the other team out-rebounds you by 15 boards (39-24) and...

... the other team gets off 61 shots and nabs 13 offensive rebounds?

Well... you play defense like a bandit... and hold the other team to 37% shooting from the field. And you force the issue on offense to make the other team send you to the freethrow line 22 times.

And then you close your eyes... clinch your fists... and fight!

Today's fist-fight was won... at the freethrow line... and in the stands.

On Sunday... we have one more opportunity to play for the title... one more chance to fight for the right to be called champion.

Rest peaceful tonight, KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski... for tomorrow, we prepare to fight!

Tamika Catchings wanted to play in yesterday's game in Gorzów, but the doctors didn't allow her.

Probably she will play in tomorrow's game in Gdynia (Lotos Gdynia - AZS Gorzów). The decision will be announced just before beginning of the game.

I did not see your post when I posted... because... I think... I opened my post before you posted... and you opened and posted your post before I finished my post. I do that a lot, Bezet. It may take me hours to close a post. (lol) I may write alittle. Then fritter about... and come back to it later... before I finally post it. (lol) There was cash and flyguy when I opened my post. Then there was you... when I closed.

Yes, indeed, I watched your link. Thank you, Bezet!

Deeo' my friend, have you seen my last post ( Apr 25, 2009 11:54 PM ) with a link to v-i-d-e-o. You posted one hour after me, but you write nothing about this v-i-d-e-o.

Now a word about Anne Breitreiner. As “5 jest najlepsza” does, I like Anne very much too. Anne is a young girl (born: 07-September-1984), but she is a very ambitious and very responsible person. When she was playing in Lotos Gdynia and now, when she plays in Gorzów team, she also studies in Berlin. Now, it is a little bit easier for her to study, because from Gorzów to Berlin is not as long distance (135 km) as it was from Gdynia to Berlin.

I like the way Anne plays and the way she motivates our team to play better and to “never give up”. Anne is really a fighter on the court.

And now something else about Anne. It's a v-i-d-e-o about Anne.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hlBY6kKbnw

Isn't she sweet, nice and amazing?

Nicky Anosike Thread -- 2009

Bezet... I got the impression from someone in the PLKK forum that the news about Nicky Anosike not returning to Gorzów Wielkopolski was an unofficial report.

Has the club announced it? I did not see any comments about it on the team's website. I have made visiting the AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski (azspwszgorzow.pl) website part of my daily routine... along with Gorzow24.pl and Polska Liga Koszykówki Kobiet (plkk.pl).

What I did find out... after game #5 when Lotos clinched the championship in Gdynia... is that Tamika Catchings had booked a flight for the Saturday (the day after game #4) to return to the United States... thinking that Lotos would sweep AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski in four games.

But after Gorzów Wielkopolski won game #4... and even after Tamika sustained her eye injury in game #3... Tamika cancelled her flight back to the states to play in game #5 Sunday, stating this is my team, this is my town, these are my people... I can't abandon them.

Man... if that's not a heroine... a sparkling example of dedication, loyalty, leadership, unselfishness and honor... what is?

Ta-mi-ka! Ta-mi-ka! Ta-mi-ka!

Bezet... while I am saddened about the news... I'm glad that you said that Nicky Anosike received a "different" offer... because there is no "better" offer (in all of Europe) than to play for AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski.

The fans are fantastic!

The team is championship-caliber!

And the club is a First Class organization!

What better place to be... other than Gorzów Wielkopolski?!

Bezet, of one thing I am certain... I know that I will be returning next season... hopefully wearing (or waving) my replica KSSSE AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wielkopolski Nicky Anosike jersey. (lol)

Also... Bezet did you receive my message ("lifelines") yesterday? I sent it FOUR times. I'm not sure it went through.

I can see, being in "Mecze", pages with 5 finals games Lotos -KSSSE AZS PWSZ one-by-one and quarter-by-quarter.
.

Edited 2:
If you see at first a links to 4 quarters of the fifth game,
you should push on the word "następne".

"następne" you can see under a last (bottom), yellow rectangle (concerning (to) "I kwarta" - 1 quarter.

Unfortunately, Nicky Anosike will not play in 2009/2010 season in Gorzów team.

Before a moment in the local radio (Radio Zachód) V-ce-chairman of Gorzów club Ireneusz Madej said, that Nicky's manager has for Nicky a different proposal. Gorzów club has not enough money, to pay more than this proposal.

Deeo and Cash, thank you for adding me to your friend lists! I feel very honoured! It's nice of you to do that especially as I turned traitor - unti April 4th I supported Nicky and AZS Gorzów wholeheartedly but then stopped :P Unlucky that they had to encounter my Lotos or I would have supported them to the end :)

I must say that I'm full of admiration for your dedication to Nicky and her team. I'm sure she can't have any greater fans than you guys! It was a pleasure for me to be able to correspond with you. I sincerely hope that Nicky will return to Gorzów next year and you will be able to continue to follow her adventures in Poland. Or even better, maybe she could come to Lotos next year? I would love to see Nicky and Catchings playing together for my team! :)

I'm very happy with the outcome of this final. It was almost the best result possible (well, maybe 4-3 would have been more exciting, but still). My team finally regained the long-awaited championship, but not until after a very tight struggle with Gorzów who refused to hand the championship over without an epic battle first! And I'm very happy that Gorzów won the game on Friday because they really deserved it. Besides, it gave Lotos the opportunity to win the championship at home which was especially sweet.

There is no doubt that Catchings was a heroine yesterday. She was supposed to return to the USA already on Saturday but after we lost that game in Gorzów she insisted on postponing her flight until today and playing in the 5th game. She said "It's my team, my friends, my town, my fans. I can't imagine not being with them at a time like this." Boy, Catch wanted to get that championship so much. She was prepared to risk a lot to get it, but she wasn't being foolhardy - she knew that her safety was important and wanted to get some protection. The club answered her request by providing special goggles which she was able to play in without endangering her fragile eye. And in yesterday's game her contribution settled the matter. I really don't think we would have won without her yesterday - as a matter of fact, until half-time Gorzów was evidently the better team. Without Catchings Lotos would probably have been wiped around the floor in that 1st half - Gorzów was playing so well then. I don't know if we could have come back from that. But as it was, Catchings' efforts helped keep the score level until the break and then we were able to cruise away afterwards.

Catchings got the MVP of the finals and she sure did deserve it. But the whole team contributed. Alana Beard had a terrific game yesterday. Monique Currie's good form on Friday almost enable us to win that game. Ivana Matovic, Magda Leciejewska, Marta Jujka and Emilia Podrug fought heroic battles under the basket and played a huge part in our victory. Paulina Pawlak played in these finals like she never did before - excellent captaincy, very good playmaking and reliable scoring from the 3-point line. Katia Snytsina was our trump card in games 2, 3 and 4 with her incredible shots for 3. So I'm really proud of my girls for this fantastic team effort!

Gorzów lost yesterday but overall the season was an EPIC WIN. They can go out with their heads held high and you could see how happy they were yesterday. I don't think anyone expected them to come 2nd - everyone was sure of another Lotos-Wisla final but AZS broke the hegemony of those 2 teams. Every single player made a huge contribution but Nicky made the difference. Really. I'm not sure if Gorzów could have made it so far without the huge reinforcement of Nicky midway through the season.

I can only say that I'm sorry it's over - and I'm hugely looking forward to more epic battles between Lotos and Gorzów next season! Hopefully with the participation of your beloved Nicky and my beloved Breitreiner :)

Best wishes to you all!

Good Afternoon, Bezet... I missed you yesterday.

Now... you have me anxious... and curious! I can't wait to hear back from you.

As you can see here... the rat-killing has begun. (lol)

The WNBA season is grinding into gear... New bloggers are joining our forum trying to shake it up and make a name for themselves.

Our forum is not at all like the friendly, civil environs of the PLKK forum.

Some of these rookie bloggers can tend to be wacky and tacky... intrusive and abusive. In which case, you must bait your traps to get rid of them.

You'll find that they looove cheese. And they'll find that they can get all the cheese they want around here... in a rat trap! (lol) (lol)

> I think I can spell jackass.

Hey, whitedudeLUVSwnba... great! But most people DO know how to spell their own name. Well... at least... I see that you do. (lol) (lol)

Now, THAT'S a joke! ... or maybe not. It has a ring of truth to it.(lol)

> It is called a typo.
> Ever hear of that?

WhitedudeLUVSwnba, just how do you manage to misspell a word when this forum so graciously provides you with a "spell-check" button? "Ever hear of that?" Use it.

> AND my comment about Nicky was a
> JOKE directed to the Uconn / Tenn rivalry. Obviously
> you've never heard of a joke either.

Obviously, whitedudeLUVSwnba, you didn't realize that you were in the "Nicky Anosike" thread. The only thing funny about you saying that Nicky lacks morals and "loyality"... is that you can't even spell "loyalty". (lol) (lol)

Now. THAT'S funny! (lol)

> You talk about
> class and yet you make a comment on someone's
> spelling? Very classy.

Aw, whitedudeLUVSwnba... I apologize. Please forgive me.

It's just that you barged into this thread... with no regard for the climate, the people or the conversation of this thread.

Imagine how WE feel... when some stranger just bursts into a room where we are holding a civil conversation. The stranger then hollers something obnoxious (and untrue)... and leaves -- giggling -- just as abruptly as he entered.

I mean... you're welcomed to join the conversation, dude... but you are not welcomed to disrupt it.

I know that you are a new blogger... chasing the notorious "flyguy" around. But not even "flyguy" behaves the way you have here. His comments are blunt... yours are just annoying.

Now, whitedudeLUVSwnba, you know very well that you do not go on an obvious Tennessee thread and crack a UConn joke... without expecting to have your face swatted back at you.

C'mon, dude! You already know!

And if you don't... uh... welcome to the WNBA, rookie! (lol)

WhitedudeLUVSwnba... congratulations on UConn's NCAA Championship crown!

But whitedudeLUVSwnba... always remember that a crown has no glory if the wearer has no class.

P.S.-- For future references, the word is "loyalty"... not "loyality." You don't want folks to go around saying, "Loyalty?! You can't even spell loyalty!" I hate when that happens, dude. (lol)

Tamika Catchings is my hero!!!

Hey, flyguy... I see that you're in rare form today. (lol) (lol)

> You shouldn't worship people blindly.

First of all... I don't worship people. I worship God... whole-heartedly. But you know that.

You also know why I support Nicky Anosike.

I admire Nicky for having risen out of the inner city New York housing projects she came out of to accomplish what she has accomplished... and continues to accomplish.

But what you don't know, flyguy is that I, myself, see the faces of young girls and boys every day trapped in the same circumstances. The area our businesses are in is a notorious inner city community. I am licensed to carry a concealed weapon... and do so on a daily basis. This type of environment is toxic and tends to suffocate opportunity... hope... and its young.

The odds of some kid like Nicky making it out of the projects are not a betting man's odds. And for her to not only make it out... but to excel in basketball, academics and life... I laud her effort in hopes that Nicky will be an example and an inspiration to the millions of other kids starting out in the same type of environment that produced her.

> I think it's horrible that your
> girl Nicky won't give you a jersey too. Seems pretty
> selfish to me. She'll have lots of jerseys in her
> career.

And thanks, flyguy, for your comments. But all I was trying to do was purchase a replica of Nicky's jersey in Poland for 100zl or $40.

But... thanks to Bezet... the club Nicky played for... despite having a rule prohibiting the sale of players' jerseys... agreed to try to get one of Nicky's actual jerseys and have her autograph it to me... IF (key word "if") Nicky does not plan to take all of her uniforms with her.

In my e-mail to the club, I also stated that I did not wish to impose on their rules or Nicky... but that I just wanted a keepsake.

When the "replica" request turned into an "authentic" possibility... that's when I decided to split the jersey with cash... another Nicky Anosike faithful and my partner-in-crime.

That's why I didn't entertain any of you guys' comments about NOT splitting the authentic jersey. I wanted to share the "real deal" with my friend.

But now that that is no longer the case... I still want to buy the replica... which I hope the club still intends to make for me.

And flyguy, Tamika Catchings really did say, "My team, my city, my fans"... even though she might have been thinking the other. (lol) (lol) (lol)

Well Nicky Anosike is an ex-Tenn Lady Vol. She has no morals or loyality. Yes I'm a UConn fan. Lol.

That's not what she said. She said something closer to, "God, I'm not gonna get the bonus money if my team doesn't win." I think it's horrible that your girl Nicky won't give you a jersey too. Seems pretty selfish to me. She'll have lots of jerseys in her career. I'm quite sure she won't return next season. She's in it for the money and if they won't pay her, she won't play for them again. You shouldn't worship people blindly.

I hear you flyguy, I also read where you actually handed out a few compliments about jumanjijam, roswell, wisconsin and even deeo':

Dee makes a good point here and there as well, but is more emotional about things.

Yes, deeo' dear, he posted that yesterday. Were you ill yesterday, flyguy, or just feeling kind of mellow?

I can't say that I call myself a jerk, however. Goofy, silly, or at the very worst an idiot, but never a jerk. (The definition of jerk: a contemptibly naive, fatuous, foolish, or inconsequential person). Now does that sound like you, flyguy? Nah, I don't think so..........Oh, and I am the only one that can call myself an idiot, I just wanted to remind you of that. (lol)

Yeah, I guess I wasn't here all the time. I would pop in and out though. Stay for a week and then go. There was a time when I thought fan voice and I would drift apart. But alas, I couldn't stay away.

I call myself a jerk all the time. I'm really just trying to entertain myself here. Hopefully, I can entertain a few others in the process, but if not... to hell with it. I think I'm funny.

WDLW-I'm sure that people will begin trickling in when the season starts and then you can't get a word in edgewise. I really just got involved with the WNBA last year, I had watched all of the rookies play college ball and I followed them into the W, so it was my first off-season too. It has been pretty quiet this winter, except for deeo' and myself who have traveled all over Europe and lived to tell about it. (lol) I've had tons of fun following Nicky to Israel, then to Poland. I hope others have followed their favorites while they've been overseas.

Thank you Cash for the compliment. I like to create and respond to posts because frankly, not too many people here actually talk anymore. I still do not know why I keep getting mentioned in the same sentence with flyguy though. I post a thread, he responds, or he posts a thread, I respond. Thats because we are pretty much the only people that talk in this forum. Not like the old days. There used to be a lot of bloggers.

Hey, cash... This is like shooting fish in a barrel, partner... fish in a barrel. (lol)

> Yeah, I've heard of the spell check button. A typo means

What in the heck are you trying to say, whitedudeLUVSwnba?! You make absolutely NO sense... not even to yourself, dude. What are you? A congressman? (lol)

> It is pretty sad that you couldn't take a little joke. Maybe
> Uconn's championship stings a little for you. I don't know.

Oh, but you're wrong here, dude. I HAVE to have a sense of humor... just to read this mess you've written.

But where you miss the boat, whitedudeLUVSwnba, is when you fail to realize that jokes are supposed to be FUNNY.

YOUR comments are not funny... they're just childlike... and annoying.

If that's your idea of a joke... "I'll take 'The World Would Be A Boring Place' for $200, Alex." (lol) (lol)

> I didn't barge into this thread, its an open forum where
> anyone can join in and give their two cents worth.

And "two cents" is about all that your comments have been worth, whitedudeLUVSwnba!

You have nothing to say! You're just busting your chops... chasing "flyguy's" shadow around... trying to be seen... not heard.

You don't want a mature dialog. All you want is ATTENTION... like some kid.

Well, there are plenty of kids in this forum for you to play with. I'm not one of them.

But you'll find that even the kids in this forum are alittle more mature and mannerly than you may be accustomed to.

> My comments are just that. My comments. I'm not
> chasing ''flyguy'' around. What is that supposed to mean. I
> respect what flyguy has to say, just as I respect what

I don't even have to look at your profile to know that you've already created 8-15 threads -- about everything -- since you entered this forum FIVE days ago.

And your topics: "Who is going to start for the Sky," "Who is going to start for the Dream," "Who is going to start for...". Dude... you've got over 40 posts in FIVE days!

I don't have to look at your profile to know that wherever "flyguy" goes... you follow soon after. Check it out for yourself! I don't need to. It's obvious!

That's how you wandered into this thread.

And that's how you'll stumble into the next thread... chasing a fly... that cannot be caught... especially by the likes of you, dude.

If... as you say... you "respect what everyone else here has to say"... stop being so obnoxious and intrusive... in order for us to be more receptive and inclusive.

Stop all of the shenanigans... find a topic you have a legitimate interest in... and join in the conversation or debate.

You'll find that new bloggers like dynasty0207... who actually READ the conversation going on in this thread and gauged the climate of this thread before he/she posted... are welcomed seamlessly into this thread.

But others like yourself and Cloppy... who managed to offend the entire country of Poland in a couple of sentences while our Polish counterparts were interacting with us in this thread... are not welcomed here... or anywhere!

Heck... today, whitedudeLUVSwnba, you actually greeted our friend Bezet (in Poland) with your "jackass"......... statement. Now, is that "class" or just plain "crass"?

"Open fan forum" does not mean you have a license to upend and offend others. And it does not mean that you have a RIGHT to disrespect and adversely affect this thread or any other.

If you are capable of an intelligible conversation, whiteguyLUVSwnba... bring it on! You'll find us to be receptive... and responsive.

Otherwise... go sit at the kiddies' table... and leave the grown folks alone. (lol)

Next caller, big baller!

Big Money, where you at, kitty-cat?

Yeah, I've heard of the spell check button. A typo means that you don't notice your spelling mistake, therefore I didn't use it because I didn't notice I goofed when I was typing.

It is pretty sad that you couldn't take a little joke. Maybe Uconn's championship stings a little for you. I don't know. Without little jokes here and there, the world would be a boring place now wouldn't it. I can't help it if you don't seem to have a sense of humor.

I didn't barge into this thread, its an open forum where anyone can join in and give their two cents worth.

> I know that you are a new blogger... chasing the
> notorious "flyguy" around. But not even "flyguy"
> behaves the way you have here. His comments are

My comments are just that. My comments. I'm not chasing ''flyguy'' around. What is that supposed to mean. I respect what flyguy has to say, just as I respect what everyone else here has to say and that is why if my little joke offended you, then I am sorry. But remember, this IS an open fan forum site. I am also NOT a new blogger here. I joined this forum the day it started a few years ago, left for a while and now I decided to rejoin it under a new account because I forgot what my old passwords and username was. I have probably been around this forum before you.
> Now, whitedudeLUVSwnba, you know very well that you
> do not go on an obvious Tennessee thread and crack a
> UConn joke... without expecting to have your face
> swatted back at you.
Like I said, it was a friendly little jab/joke. I am sorry that you can't take it. I actually have a lot of respect for Tenn and what they've accomplished over the years. Tenn & Uconn are rivals, that is a fact and I looked back at some of the comments you made about Geno and how Charde Houston is better now that she got away from him. If you don't want a Uconn fan coming in here to and taking a stab at Tenn in a Tenn thread, then you should not take stabs at Uconn in a Tenn thread. It works both ways. I still mean no disrespect to you but if you can't take it, don't dish it.

> C'mon, dude! You already know!
>
> And if you don't... uh... welcome to the WNBA,
> rookie! (lol)
I'm no rookie to the WNBA or the forum. You would know that by looking at my profile.

Deeo, about Chamique Holdsclaw... February 6th was NOT her 1st game in Poland... she came to Poland in January 2007, joined Wisla Can-Pack Kraków and helped them beat my Lotos 4-3 in the finals that year. Barely a month later she retired from the WNBA. And THEN... in October 2007 she joined my Lotos! Wow, we were so thrilled then. And she sure played her heart out for Lotos... we in Gdynia had a very good impression of her as a player and as a nice person. Her behaviour in Gdynia just doesn't go along with her behaviour elsewhere, where she was inconsistent and leaving her teams in the lurch (like LA). No, in Gdynia she was extremely motivated and had a very good influence on the rest of the team. I even had the privelege of interviewing her for Lotos PKO BP TV (the website which has the videos of this year's finals) and found her a lovely person. Generally we in Gdynia felt really priveleged to have her on our team for the 2007/2008 season. We were going to have Catchings alongside her already then, but Tamika got injured so she had to postpone her arrival in Gdynia for another season. Shame... Holdsclaw with Catchings would have made a phenomenal duo!

In May last year Holdsclaw moved back to Wisla, which was a big blow for us in Gdynia... She began the 2008/2009 season as a huge star for Wisla, she was playing fantastically. But then her knees injury came back. In November she had to go back to the USA for surgery. She did indeed return to Kraków on February 6th 2009, but her knees still weren't healed and she was in such a bad state that she had several scoreless(!) games. There was no point in keeping her so she was sent back to the USA on February 26th. So that's the story of Chamique Holdsclaw in Poland... quite an interesting one, really. We in Gdynia were lucky because she stayed healthy throughout her season here and really did do the team proud. Whatever bad experiences other people have had with her, in Gdynia we saw her from the good side.

Apology accepted. We can play nice, and shake hands, but now and then I still may have a buzzer hidden in my palm.

Neither do I, flyguy. Nighttime is my time... (lol)

I just read where Tamika Catchings got $200,000.00 to play for Lotos PKO BP in Gdynia, Poland... for just a "few weeks," the article said.
The Women's Polish Basketball League article went on to say: "...four months we were able to see Tamika Catchings - women's basketball LeBron James. Her play was phenomenal, the only, unique."

I really enjoy bridging the overseas leagues with the WNBA homefront. I've learned so much.

I learned that Chamique Holdsclaw is not coming out of retirement. She's coming out of Poland... TS Wisła Can-Pack in Kraków, Poland. (lol)

She became the face of the Ford Germaz Ekstraklasa (highest women's league in Poland) when she was signed on Feb. 6, 2009... and was on a great team with Candice Dupree (coming off of the bench), Dominique Canty and Marta Fernandez... before they cancelled her contract after only 12 games on Feb. 24, 2009... citing "ill health" as the reason for the split.
74.125.45.132/translate_c?hl=en&sl=pl&u=http://www.wislacanpack.pl/home/%3Fakcja%3Dnews%26id%3D1592&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dplkk%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4SUNA_enUS256US257&usg=ALkJrhgXWYpMwFnGfIca4sHxT1...

So, what's up, flyguy? Please 'splain this to me. (lol)

By the way... Tamika replaced Chamique as the face of the Polish league.

She used to be a real nut. I say that with love, of course. Then once she started paying attention and following the league for real, she formed actual opinions about things and started to get it. I'm gonna go ahead and take all the credit for that. ;-)

Cash... Flyguy... Not only did I not have the horse... I didn't have the dog... the cat... or the mule that ran behind the winner of the Kentucky Derby, Mine That Bird, when he headed down the clubhouse stretch. (lol)

I wanted to take off my shoe and throw it at him to slow him down... but he probably would have just put it on and kept right on running. (lol) (lol)

I'm still waiting on Friesan Fire to cross the finishline. He's due in by Thursday. (lol)

And yes, cash, I'm exhausted! Open 24 hours... two bars... and rain EVERY day. The old gray mare just ain't what she used to be. (lol) But I bet that even I-I-I can beat Friesan Fire... in a foot race... while eating a pork chop sandwich and drinking a slurpee. (lol)

I mean... all of my horses were dogs... Friesan Fire, Mr. Hot Stuff and Hold Me Back. I should have entered my trusty dog Pappeno in the Derby. At least he would have bit the heck out of the winner when he ran by him. (lol) (lol)

I see that there is nothing new going here... aside from the news that Lauren Jackson has stopped holding the WNBA hostage. How good is she going to be anyway after that ankle surgery?

My mom's best friend hit the exacta, Cash. She won about $1,030 on her $1 bet. Though she boxed 3 horses so the bet actually cost $6. They can finish in any order in a box. 6 possible combinations at $1 each, in case that's confusing to anyone. The best part... she and her husband weren't going to the track, so I placed the bets for them and for my parents. She gave me $100 out of her winnings for my time.

Thanks for the info, easy56.

So, if Tamika Catchings and Chamique Holdsclaw had played together for Lotos PKO BP in Gdynia, Poland, 5 jest najlepsza :), that would have been a first... in the pros.

cash... don't you remember both Candice Dupree and Chamique Holdsclaw coming off of the bench for TS Wisła Can-Pack Kraków to dust our clock earlier this year in the Poland Cup?

Evening, everyone. About Chamique.....last October when I began looking at the FIBA website, I saw that she was playing for Wisla and doing very well. But then, I noticed that her name just disappeared from their roster in mid-November. I didn't know what happened to her, then she showed back up in February for a few weeks and didn't play many minutes. So thanks 5 jest najlepsza for the explanation. I know it depends on what kind of surgery she had done, but don't you think that's a little too soon to be back on the court?

And deeo', I did notice that Tamika's picture is on the top of the PLKK website now instead of Chamique's. And Candice Dupree came in about the time Chamique went out, she must have been her replacement.

Hey, 5 jest najlepsza :)... Hey, whitedudeLUVSwnba...

5 jest najlepsza :), please tell me... if you know... where Chamique came from when she arrived in Poland in 2007.

I read in an Women's Polish Basketball League article that she came from "Sydney." Is this true?

She's sort of an enigma to me... in the years that followed her last WNBA appearance. Maybe you can help me piece together her path upto her reemergence in the WNBA.

Even with her injuries in Poland this season, Chamique averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds... coming off of the bench in the later games.

And by the way, 5 jest najlepsza :), Tamika Catchings and Chamique Holdsclaw played together during the first women's triple-peat NCAA Championships by the Tennessee Lady Vols in the late 1990s.

Did they play together in the WNBA?

I think Holdsclaw's past demons are behind her now. I think she will be reborn with the wnba by playing in Atlanta. I think she is going to be very good this year and a good teammate. the dream are lucky to have her at this point in her life
Pic is me in the middle of Seimone Augustus & Lindsay Whalen. Never thought they'd be teammates when I had this picture taken a few years ago.
